If we manage to clear a winger on top of Myers we can probably add a veteran 3rd RD(maybe Schenn?) and a solid 4th veteran C to that roster. The more C and D depth the better for the playoff push.

Compher could be pricey as he’s one of the top guys, it could eat up a lot of what we already pay in Miller’s new deal and it can take a while to find the right deals for the right players that fit in well. Not everything lines up perfectly. Getting players with having had off-years that weren’t on par with their cap hits on a record breaking team wouldn’t be my go to example. We also then have to consider what market would be out there for Miller when we’re in an off-season where players are more readily available both with teams looking to trade guys out at a less than ideal market value due to cap restraints and in free agency. All things considered I reckon nobody would be lining up to pay enough of a premium to warrant a trade for us to consider. The better time would have been prior to this offseason.

That still doesn’t guarantee that it makes us a better team next year. To replace Miller’s output would require significant additions that might take more than an off-season to acquire. Perhaps further down the line depending on the assets back but management’s focus in on next year. I was team trade Miller and rebuild on the fly but management made their decision to compete now. Any trade would have to make us better next year and I don’t see it possible that quickly personally.

We traded high picks for a top 4 RD and bought out OEL for the purpose of creating cap to add more players to help us compete.

Just lock the f**king thing already. We have past moment the moment of rebuilding and there’s no trade out there for Miller that makes this team better next year.

Fischer would be a good add to our bottom 6 as well as some of the C names out there. Winger though so low priority. Familiarity with Tocchet. Size, physicality, PK ability and can produce decent numbers for a checking forward. Clear a winger first.

2.5-3M is the max cap I’d give Soucy. We could look at Niko Mikkola who could be a cheaper option as well.

Pesce is the better defenseman without a doubt.

More D depth the better. Injuries happen and you need that depth for the playoffs. Those young D will cook on a stacked AHL team then get the call when guys get hurt as they always do. I would look to add some NHL vets too. Don’t slouch on Ds and Cs depth.

I don’t think he has top 4 potential. 3rd pair? Probably a more realistic possibility. Will he be worth that 2nd we spent? In the end probably not. I guess what’s next is to see whether or not he’s capable as a 3rd pairing guy.

A lot of quality maritimers on US teams though as there are prairie boys. He’s a #4 D and the Devils have two young LDs in Bahl and Hughes 3.0(on top of Nemec) so letting him go is probably an easier pill to swallow.

He seems like to no brainer move to me. No risk, low cost. If he pans out Schenn 2.0 but younger and bigger. Could end up carrying a 3rd pairing for years which is what you need. D(and C) depth is super important on a playoff team.

Brzustewicz and Mynio don’t look too bad. Really though a lot of these more recently added guys(including the NCAA guys) are wait and see.

Willinder, Brzustewicz and Mynio are pretty nice additions to our prospect pool.

Doubtful in regards to cheaper price of acquisition as there will probably be no lack of suitors in play. In terms of contractual demands that would be the dream. He’s a bonafied #2 defenseman.

Tough to say atm. LA could ask for more in the division as well. Better idea when I see guys around 17th develop and how Hronek and Durzi pan out on their new clubs.

There would have to be an extension in place most certainly since he’s gonna cost a bit of a premium to trade for as well.
