I mean if we keep them here and they get no ice time and no roles they could also stunt their growth. Are goal is not to develop them into 3rd/4th line players that barely get any meaningful minutes. If they never get that ice-time and important role minutes they’ll never develop properly. Practicing with NHLers doesn’t mean much when you’re struggling with the ice-time your getting, struggling to get any meaningful minutes or sitting out games. Especially now that the team isn’t playing great. It’s not exactly the best environment for them. Forcing players who aren’t ready to take the next step on an underperforming team is probably the worst thing you can do for them. I would much rather them get the chance to be important players on a team, being relied upon to play a lot of meaningful minutes. They’re aren’t getting that here and are struggling. And it’s not like they’re gonna spend the season there.

It doesn't mean much when they're struggling with the limited time they're getting they're getting when they're playing. Hoglander's averaging 12 minutes a game and Pod is getting 13 minutes. In Abbotsford they would be getting 6-8 more minutes each #1 PP time and PK time they won't get here. BB isn't gonna give them quality ice-time. He's trying to win games and they're not proving to him that they can stick in the lineup or are worth the added responsibility. On top of that we have a forward heavy lineup this year and Boeser's back. Neither of them might not even be on PP2 Sedins are involved in the player development department which the Ryan Johnson, who's also the AHL GM, is the Director of. They already spend time with the AHL team, probably more time there than with the Canucks since that's their job. So either way they get Sedin time. This is from an article on the Canucks website two days ago in regards to their induction to the HHOF.

I am sure if you pay him enough he'll come coach.
-
He mentioned that the guys they want to move(who they feel are not fits) are tough to move because nobody wants them atm. Implied that they might have to move out others who have value.
-
The main thing he mentioned was the loose style. He said that Demko playing lights out last year was a big part of wins. That the style we play in front of him is not sustainable.
-
JR talked about structure. Nothing bad said but also no vote of confidence with the coaching. Doesn't like the word rebuild but build instead. Pretty much said they're open for business in terms of trying to free cap and get younger but said some players on the team he feels aren't a fit are hard to move since nobody wants them atm. Implied they might have to move guys that have higher value. Wants to re-sign Bo. Proud of the way he's playing and how he's handled the situation. If they can't get a deal done then deadline move.

He's gonna be a 27 year old UFA. If he scores around a PPG pace or even a little less I expect a lot of the league to come calling. We might not be able to afford him. -
Yeah but they should be playing games and not sitting. IMO send them to the AHL for a bit. Let them play 1st line minutes, find their scoring touch and build their confidence. This playing and sitting isn't great and now that Boeser's back there will be less ice time going around. Same goes for Rathbone for that matter. BB said Dermott might play this trip and he'll probably be in over Rathbone. We have enough D on the roster as is.

This team is pooched, why aren’t we playing the kids?

With the posted practice forward lines it looks like Hoglander will sit one out. -
IMO the top 3 in this draft could all be argued as generational talents.
-
Also has a more refined 2-way game.

They move him when Nemec outplays him is what I meant. He becomes expendable and is still a valued trade asset.
-
I don't see the point in using assets to move him in a rebuild. It would be costly and doesn't he have full control with a NMC or does that get nullified with the past trade?. Worst case he's a veteran that will play with and help a young D develop which isn't a bad worst case scenario. Only 4 more years after this one.

Marino is the stop gap for Nemec. By the time he's ready they'll move Marino who will still be cheap and in his prime. 3rd pair D are easy to find.
