  1. We need a PTO or two.

I'd love to see them bring Jujhar Kharia and Serron Noel on PTOs.

  2. Hockey players have such boring nicknames these days. It’s all Millsy, Petey etc. They just don’t put any thought into them anymore. It’s sad. I realize there are a few exceptions, like The Kuz Missile, but most are boring.

Hockey Players are inherently boring people. It's one of the reasons why interest in Hockey has been waning in recent years. Whereas leagues like the NFL and the NBA capitalize on there players personalities, the NHL seems to actively retaliate against players who show flashes of personality.

I feel like that's reflected in mundane hockey culture from Connor McDavid, the world's best player, having the personality of wet cardboard to these terrible nicknames that all end in "y".

If the NHL is going to grow in the age of social media it needs to do what the NBA is doing -- encourage players to have Youtube channels, podcasts, TikTok accounts, and whatever where they're interacting with fans and each other more. Spittin Chiclets shouldn't be the only hockey podcast in town and yet it feels that way.

  3. Vegas has no future, they'll win the cup tonight and then won't be heard from for 7 or 8 years, old team, capped out, as a Canucks fan Im excited about the next 7 years, we have an elite young core, just need to surround it, need to shed some contracts this summer as well

They won a cup and that's what matters. They pushed it all in and won big. They'll be around for the next 2-4 seasons but yeah, when the drop off happens, it'll be big and bad. It'll be interesting to see how Vegas fans react to a rebuild.

Yeah but in the meantime watch Petey force his way out if he doesn't like the direction the team is going next offseason.

  5. Any recommendations for a good restaurant Jollof Rice in Vancouver?  Heard good things and would like to try it.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

VanSuya in East Vancouver is really good. It's probably the best Jollof Rice I've had in Vancouver.

  6. Woah, would of never thought i'd see frankie corrado anywhere again but he's on the TSN pannel as analyst, doesnt seem to bad.

      Quantum

He's a natural analyst and I think he's gonna have a long career being on TV. I really like him as a guest on Donnie & Dhali. He speaks pretty glowingly about his time with the Canucks and has so much respect for the Sedins, Bieksa, and Jannik Hansen among others. It's nice to have him and Bieksa sort of repping the Canucks on TV these days.

  7. Watching a lot of Dahlin with the Sabres.  He might be the worst top pick ever.  Slow, and a DUMBO.  Our baby cousin franchise got a LOSER with that pick.

  8. So we loved Bruce last year and now he is the problem? SO CONFUSED

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Bruce is not the problem here. It's a roster construction problem. As well as a general "attitude" problem from a good chunk of the players.

  9. Whats worse, losing picks or having to carry dead cap?

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Dead cap. Can't get rid of it once you have it. With picks, there's always the chance that a pick can be recouped.

For instance, yeah the Canucks traded a 2024 2nd in the Dickinson/Stillman deal but if the Horvat contract talks go south and he decides he doesn't want to return and the Canucks make a deadline deal, there's always a chance that a Horvat deal could recoup that second (along with getting other picks). Not saying that'll happen but that's one scenario where they can get a pick back.

  10. Lowkey believe Seattle is a Pacific division dark horse if Wright and Beniers can contribute to what's probably an underrated top 9 and Grubaeur can bounce back.

I really don't think Graubner can bounce back. He was horrendous last season.

  12. nathan rourke's younger brother burning it up in his junior team. he is another QB. looks amazing.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

If Kurtis Rourke gets passed by the NFL, I can totally see him doing what Nathan's doing and come up to the CFL and dominate for a bit before making a legit NFL run. My hope is that when Nathan gets his NFL shot, we can replace him with Kurtis!

  13. Does anyone know if there is someone I should be watching out for on TPS Turku? I will be going to one of their games soon.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Do you know who they are playing? Because if you can, you should try and watch TPS play the Pelicans. The Pelicans have Canucks prospects Lukas Jasek and Viktor Persson on their team.

  14. i wonder if montreal would move either arber xhekas or arvid hendriksson for dipietro?

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

It would be cool to get Arber Xhekaj into our system. Not just because of his surname but because we could use another young (under 23) d-man in the system.

That said, I don't think they'll part with either because they have a similar goalie in their system at the same age in Cayden Primeau -- who, like DiPEtro, could probably use a change of scenery.

A more likely scenario would be maybe be a Primeau for Dipietro swap. Swap the goalies who need a change of scenery with each other. They are the exact same age, 23. Both would have fresh starts in the organization. And Primeau could be a better long term third stringer for the Canucks than Dipietro and be a D'Elia replacement after next season.

  15. Who has higher fantasy upside between Jiricek and Mintyukov?

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

I think Jiricek has the higher chance of making the show this season and that's why I think he has the higher fantasy upside. Mintyukov is an OHL guy and I expect that's where he'll play most of the season except for maybe a handful of games to start the season. With that said, Mintyukov has the higher ceiling as being an offensive defensemen whereas Jiricek has the higher ceiling of being a defensive defensemen.

  16. what 3 players on the team do we need the least?

  17. Conor Garland, 3rd round pick 2024 for Scott Mayfield, JG Pageau. Who says no?

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Garland says no because he's like "please, I don't want to shave my beard!"

  18. is joshua a center or winger? 3rd or 4th line? better than dickinson or pearson? JR says he should make the big club this season.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

I believe Allvin and Rutherford see Dakota Joshua as a 4th line C/W. He'll likely play on Lazar's wing on the revamped 4th line this season with Joshua spotting in for Lazar as the C on certain draws (Joshua is a lefty, Lazar is a righty).

  19. Toronto is going to limp in to a wildcard spot and get crushed in the 1st round.

Toronto getting destroyed in the first round of the playoffs is always a treat.

  20. collin deliafirst player on canucks, born in cucamunga, california.  i think JR said that joshua would be playing on the canucks next year. he was on donnie and dhali this morning.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

Yeah, Allvin also said that he envisions Dakota Joshua on the roster too. Dakota Joshua did sign a 1 way contract. It sounds like Lazar and Joshua will make up 2/3 of the 4th line. There will be competition to fill the last part of that line.

Colin D'Elia is going to be in competition with Spencer Martin for the backup spot. I think Spencer Martin is going to win out because he will have a year of working with Ian Clark by the time training camp opens and Martin impressed last season in his games with the Canucks last season. Colin D'Elia as the 1A in Abby mentoring Silovs is good and D'Elia has experience with Jeremy Colliton since he was a goalie for Colliton in both Rockford and Chicago when Colliton was coaching in that organization.

Also if D'Elia does win the backup job, I believe Demko/D'Elia will be the first California born goalie tandem in the NHL.

  21. I wonder if Brandon Sutter might possibly return next season?

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

I think his career is over. His post covid symptoms seem serious. The interview he did on Sportsnet at the end of the season showed how bad of a state he was in, could barely get through the interview. His breathing still seems to be an issue in everyday life. Hopefully he's improved. I think the move for Sutter would be to take on a developmental role... possibly with the Canucks (Van or Abby).

  22. we need to free up cap space, urgently. poolman, dickinson garland, myers are who im looking at. i think the dream would be to trade dickinson and poolman and bring in a 4 million dollar RD to replace poolman and kuzmenko to replace dickinson. i like the idea of holding onto miller and trading him at the deadline 50% retained if need be.

    1. Quantum

      Quantum

      Garland isn't an issue.

Poolman and Dickinson are definitely albatrosses.

Myers has value but if they can move him for cap relief, do it.

Getting out from under the OEL deal would be huge if they could move him to Boston or something this summer.

      @Ghostsof1915 https://www.tsn.ca/barry-trotz-nhl-coach-1.1817265

He's stepping away from hockey for a little bit. My feeling is that he'll take over a team midseason, one that he thinks he can turn around in a hurry. Detroit, Winnipeg aren't very good options for him. Winnipeg is over the hill and Detroit is still rebuilding.

My bet is that Sergei Federov will be named the Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings by the draft. He seems to be the quiet favorite and has deep ties to Steve Yzerman.

Marco Kasper, an Austrian prospect playing in Sweden, has also gone public about interviewing with the Canucks. The Canucks are doing their due diligence with the prospects that are going to be available in the first round.

The reason why the Slafkovsky news was note worthy is because he's slated to go Top 3 in the draft and the Canucks dont pick until 15th. The New Jersey Devils have been open about potentially moving their 2nd overall pick and with all the JT Miller rumors, there could be a fit there for a blockbuster trade.

Most likely scenario is that the Canucks stay put and keep their pick and possibly pick up another 2nd at or near the draft.
