  1. Brock comes across as a very special person who exudes compassion, loyalty, integrity, respect for others, openness & humility. Imo, he is a team leader and a burgeoning elite player. He has had to work through some tough injuries, but is always focused on what he needs to do to improve his game. He has managed to turn weaknesses into strengths, developing his game into a more complete player who has an impact with or without the puck. I expect that Brock will have a career season this year and any lingering trade discussions will dry up.
  2. Imo, both those players are more complete and have more value than Quinn (at the moment). Quinn should come in well under the $8m mark.
  3. https://en.khl.ru/clubs/spartak/team/ He shouldn't have any problem being the best player on this team. Alone in Russian; no family or friends.
  4. Quinn has only played 2 seasons (during Covid) and the last season was dismal for the entire team, for so many reasons. I think it's way too early to project his entire career based on these 2 seasons. Reinhart was a great player for sure, but his injury record is pretty bad. 3 seasons with less than 33 games (648 games in 11 seasons). Retired at 30yrs old.
  5. The people on the streets will likely never know his history. Glad he's choosing to leave the continent. Hopefully we will hear very little about him.
  6. Crosby. Heading into his 17th season and still putting up ++point per game in every one of them. Complete player in every way.
  7. Both Pete and Brock have had to face injuries in the early part of their young careers. The tag 'if he stays healthy' follows them when we have a discussion like this one. The best thing for the team, is to have the best player ending the season with the most points. That said, it would be awesome to see a tight 3-way competition between Brock, Pete and JT. I think Brock is going to have his best season this year and may be the dark horse in this competition. That's my vote.
  8. A wise GM would know that after sending an offer sheet to another team's best player, he could expect a similar response in return. With that, Montreal should have had JK already signed and ready to go for the upcoming season.
  9. Probably not, but the $6m is just for one year and (apparently) a new contract, with more term and far less $ will be secured for the following year(s). There's a lot more behind this story though. Carolina had approached the Habs regarding Koko before the offer sheet was presented. Also, it appears that the Habs have not done a good job developing their young players; mostly due to a lack of trust and sitting them during important games. It seems that Carolina likes the young Russian's game and believe he will develop into a better player in their system. If they're right, they will have a 2nd C in exchange for a late round 1st and 3rd. Not too shabby. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nhl/stu-cowan-hurricanes-show-confidence-in-jesperi-kotkaniemi/ar-AANXa57?ocid=BingNewsSearch
  10. I don't know about him qualifying as a 'quotable member of the media', but he sure has a huge passion for our team and likely reads every scrap of news about them. It wouldn't surprise me if a guy like this has a more thorough background on the team; player history, positions/roles, history of drafts/trades, etc. I don't have the time, or the interest level, to read every message on this board (or any other information site regarding the Canucks. I didn't know that the Sedins would be working out of Abby, assisting the development of the prospects (I had assumed they were going to be with the big club). Nor did I know much about the prospects he has mentioned; especially Woo.
  11. I had responded to the original post a couple of pages back. This was my response... "It was cuporbust's comment (which I should have quoted)... "Yes , it's concerning our prime minister has said things like he "admires basic dictatorships like China, because they can get things done" in a situation like this . One of the basic differences between a dictatorship, and democracy is the ability for people like you and me to have a say in those " created consequences ". What he basically said as one of the leaders of the free world is he admires how a dictatorship can make decisions, like this one, without you or me getting in the way" I was simply opining that considering the source of the statement (JT), I don't personally take much from it. It's just Justin."
  12. The discussion was about mandating vaccines at worksites and the consequences of this action. I believe this is considered (more or less) as forcing the non vaccinated person to be vaccinated. That this action is not a democratic action.
  13. Nuck fans hate Flames players. If Kole Lind had Dube's #s last season, they would be thrilled.
  14. No. It was cuporbust's comment (which I should have quoted)... "Yes , it's concerning our prime minister has said things like he "admires basic dictatorships like China, because they can get things done" in a situation like this . One of the basic differences between a dictatorship, and democracy is the ability for people like you and me to have a say in those " created consequences ". 15. Imo, Justin isn't terribly bright; or at least, very naive. We are all aware of the many stupid things he has said and done over the years. He're's the quote..." “There’s a level of admiration I actually have for China because their basic dictatorship is allowing them to actually turn their economy around on a dime and say, ‘We need to go green … we need to start investing in solar.’” https://www.ctvnews.ca/politics/trudeau-under-fire-for-expressing-admiration-for-china-s-basic-dictatorship-1.1535116 This just seems like typical Justin glorifying the 'swift' battle to create alternative energy sources. What he doesn't realize (in the moment) is that he has praised a government that is one of the most oppressive in the world. He's really not the sharpest pencil in the box, now is he? As the elders in my family often say..."one can easily see that there's a whole lot more of Margaret in that boy than Pierre."
  16. Exactly. For pro athletes, it's all about the quality of the team; not so much the city. If Buff had a good management team, the Sabres would be a very good hockey team and would be a popular destination for players. Look at Edmonton. When they were winning their cups, they had no problem signing anyone they wanted.
  17. The modern world has never seen anything like this pandemic (along with global travel), so we're really just pioneers trying to find our way through an unexplored land. For me, vaxed on not, everyone should continue to wear masks in crowed situations, maintain distance and wash hands. The only way to stop this virus is to keep reducing its ability to spread and hopefully it will burn out at some point.
  18. Bloomberg data is American. Our numbers in BC are significantly different. Everyone, who has received both vaccines, had them 8-12 weeks apart.
