  1. Recent Mock Expansion Draft https://soundofhockey.com/2021/03/11/sound-of-hockey-mock-seattle-kraken-expansion-draft-3/ So who do Canuck fans choose to go to Seattle... Jake, Adam or Kole? I would not be happy about losing Kole, as he is having a breakout year in Utica.
  2. Scott Laughton UFA Canucks will have to pay him more to get him, but will stay be way less than Domi. Just a year older than Max and will likely get around $3.5-4m X5. Tough as nails, relentless, great defensive skill and solid offensive upside. Get er done Jim.
  3. Nothing in the article that Sabres or Canucks fans don't already know. Both teams have had more than their fair share of bad luck, bad management and bad teams. Let's face it, more recent expansion NHL teams get a way better deal than what the Nucks/Sabres had. Looking at the regular season stats for both teams, one realizes that the Sabres had a better record in the earlier years, whereas the Canucks were better in the later years. If you're a boomer, your memory of those endless years of no playoffs or the inevitable 1st round losses. If you are a millennial and have been watching the team for the past 20 years, the team probably doesn't look near as bad. Regardless, never winning a Stanley cup for 50 years is pretty f@$#%@g bad! Found it amusing that the writer is a leaf fan though. I mean, lots of cups when NHL had 6 teams, but none since. 53 years. And then there's the more recent 15yr rebuild. Fascinating.
  4. Benning was hired in late May 2014, so his first showing in playoffs was the loss in the 1st round of 2015 We don't know whether the rebuild plan was even a thought at that point. Imo, the rebuild should have started the following year (15/16), but they still had the Sedins and tried to fix the team by'retooling'. It didn't work and once again the Canucks failed to make the playoffs. So, starting at season 2015/16, the team did not qualify for 4 consecutive years, in the 5th year (19/20), they got to the 3rd round lost in game 7 following year. Most likely, the team does not qualify this year. At best, we can only say that the rebuild has been 6yrs; starting in season 15/16. Who knows when the owner and/or management decided to actually commit to a rebuild. I fully expect this team to make the playoffs next year, as they certainly have the talent and with a bit of tweaking, they will be very solid. I can't think of a team (in recent years) that has had a successful rebuild in less than 6 seasons; including the 'lucky lotto' teams that manage to claim 1-3 overall picks during their term.
  5. I agree that Hamilton would be a huge addition to the team, but for how long and how much $? Dougie is in his prime and there will be a lot of teams (American teams) that will be bidding for him. Wherever he ends up, I would think his term will be at least 6yrs. For Vancouver, it would likely come in around $8m X 7. For the Canucks to do this, they would have to allow for the contract, the Canucks would have to either Schmidt or Myers and probably not re-sign Edler. Hughes - Hamilton Juolevi - Myers/Schmidt (would prefer to keep Schmidt, but relying on Seattle to pick Myers isn't a sure thing). Rathbone - Hamonic? Now the left side becomes weaker. If Edler takes a significant cut in salary (and depending on what Hamonic wants); they may be able to squeeze Edler in, which makes the team defence much better. The Hamilton term could become a problem later on when ELCs are becoming RFAs and the RFAs become UFAs with big $/term. Hopefully he isn't signed with a full term NMC.
  6. Miller was a top 6 player in his last 2yrs playing for the Rangers (56pts and 58pts) if you include the 18 games he played for TB after the trade. As you have stated, TB had great depth in their top 6 and decided to move JT to the 3rd, as he can play the 2-way game very well. Miller is a similar player to O'Reilly, who is a team leader and a very difficult fellow to play against. He is a key player on his team. Like Ryan, JT is the one that often brings the puck into the o-zone, when everybody else fails. He is great along the boards and manages to keep the puck in the zone. His puck distribution is excellent. Miller is a rugged, quick and smart player who is a key part of the top line. I'm not sure why you are diminishing Miller's contribution by addressing Pete's physical struggles. Perhaps it is bothering you that JT may become a C? I wouldn't worry if I were you, as Pete is an elite player, who may very likely end up being a franchise player; probably as a 1C. Yes, Pete is getting a lot of attention, but Boeser, on the other hand, is having his best year. Brock is built differently and can withstand the hitting, holding, tripping, etc that the top line endures. Pete will always be slight physically, but I believe he will end up being more like the Sedin body type, in the coming years. The Sedins also took a lot of pounding when they were young, but were able to withstand it later on.
  7. Yes! Price shutout!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. C'mon Coco, Nucks won't be a lotto team after this season anyways. We're good.
  9. I'd have to see the 'game winners' in context. The game winner in a 3-2 game would have more importance than the winner of a 7-2 win, would it not? How many game winners has Keller or Virtanen this year? I agree that Keller's cap appears to be too high. I'm not sure what you mean by 'even $ over Jake? Are you meaning double what Jake gets (+5m)? Right now that seems fair, but for whatever reason, the Coyotes decided to go for the full meal deal of 8yrs. Time will tell whether it was a good decision or not.
  10. That seems like a huge overpayment for Keller...But, Jake is 2yrs older. When Jake was 22yrs; 70gp-15-25pts. Keller is 22yrs old; 24gp- 8-10-18pts (+60pts in 82gp) Virtanen is 24yrs old; 23gp-3-0-3pts. Keller was a beast in last year's playoffs; 9gp -4-3-7pts Virtanen in playoffs; 16gp-2-1-3pts. I think that Keller's projection is much higher than Virtanens'.

  12. I gave up the dream that Jake will ever reach the potential of his ranking. I rate him on his consistency and level of commitment. But for a few games, I would rate him pretty darn low. If he can play like he has recently, for numerous games, I would be impressed. Would love to see this happen.
  13. Agreed. When he's moving, he's very creative and that's when his magic happens.
  14. Statement game. I don't think the boys want to see a change in GM or coach.
  15. And signed too?!! You will be wearing that with pride for many years to come. Lucky you!
