  1. Leafs this leafs that...blah, blah blah. WTH...they scored again. It's Miller time!
  2. He spent too many years in Leaf pjs and sheets. Atta boy Bo. Oh I mean...we should trade Horvat.
  3. His game has taken a big step up this year. Great core player for this team and he's only going to improve!
  4. Exactly. I clearly remember most of the posters on this board last season were thinking the Nucks would be contenders in seasons 22-23 or 23-24. Nothing has changed. Just because they made some magic in the playoffs last year, doesn't mean they are suddenly a contender. I still think that this team has a bright future and am excited to see the lineup next season and beyond. What I really want to see, is for JB to trade Pearson for a 2nd and Sutter for a 4th at TDL (or earlier). If Rousell can be traded (retain $) for a late pick, that would be great. Somehow, the Loui contract needs to be dumped during the offseason; by paying his bonus and getting him to agree to retire, or trading him to a team with lots of spare cap. Maybe some GM will take the Pears 2nd, Sutter 4th and a prospect (that has NHL possibility - Lockwood/Jasek??). Regardless, the team needs to add toughness and have gaping hole at 3C and a RD. This can be done via UFA (Laughton - 26yrs) and (a player like Montour-28yrs or Larsson - 27yrs). These players add the toughness the team needs and are young enough to sign them to a longer term, so that the team can develop their own players that can eventually replace them.
  5. https://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/miracle-on-ice-star-mark-pavelich-dies-at-treatment-home-1.5336162 "Pavelich was undergoing treatment at the home as part of a civil commitment for assaulting his neighbour in Cook County, Minnesota, in August 2019, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. Pavelich thought the man had spiked his beer. He was charged with felony assault but Judge Michael Cuzzo found he was incompetent to stand trial because he was mentally ill and dangerous. According to the judge's order from December 2019, a psychologist found Pavelich was suffering from delusions and paranoia. Another psychologist found he suffered from a mild neurocognitive disorder due to traumatic brain injury, likely related to repeated head injuries." Another victim of excessive violence in hockey. RIP Mark
  6. Agree. The team will look quite different during the next two seasons. If JB plays his cards right, he may be able to unload some salary cap and pick up a guy like Laughton, Goodrow, Coleman or K.Miller in the upcoming UFA market. Along with prospects like Podz and the two you have mentioned; this team could change its face quite rapidly. This season is what it is, but the future looks good.
  7. Was that who made that great pass from the dzone before Boeser got it?
  8. Edler has a NMC not a NTC. He asked for an NMC because he does not want to play for any other team. Stating that Alex should sign a contract for 700k is ridiculous and indicates you are either trolling, or you know very little about fair contracts in the NHL. Furthermore, The Leafs (15yr rebuild) and Avs (8yr rebuild) appear to be finally looking like they might make some noise in the P/Os. The Leafs have yet to make it past the 1st round in the playoffs and the Avs just made it to the 2nd last year. Speaking of the Avs, did you know that they have had 7 top 10 picks; 5 of them #4 or less?
  9. At this point, I don't think the Canucks will offer Edler that kind of term. He doesn't appear to want to play anywhere else, so I think he will accept their offer of one year contracts with NMC until his game is at a level where he can be replaced by Juolevi or another young player. Right now, he's a middle pairing dman and the team needs him. He does a lot of heavy lifting for this team and is a stable influence on the youngins.
  10. So little hockey in the past year. He needs to get a good string of games to get him going.
  11. To be fair, the team as a whole are underperforming. Luckily it's a short season and our misery will be over when the weather starts to get really nice. Still, I do feel hopeful about the future of the team and believe they can do some decent retooling in the off season. Oh, and the possiblity of a top 5 pick will pick up our spirits as well.
  12. Regretfully, I think I would do this trade. Although Pete and Quinn are fantastic players and a lot of fun to watch, I believe Eichel and Dahlin are more complete players. Most fans will give the edge to Eichel, so that's a no-brainer. In my mind, Dahlin plays tough minutes; including the pp and the pk. He puts up a lot of points and plays a physical game. In the coming years, he will develop into a significant IMO, the Canucks win this trade.
  13. Could easily be a top 5. SB will be looking for a new RFA contract, as well. There are better alternatives UFA's available in a similar price range. My personal favourite is Scott Laughton. Other good 3Cs are Wennberg, Janmark, Hyman, Iafollo, etc; with similar salary and no draft pick required. My dream 3rd line for 2021: Motte - Laughton - *Ferland (if he can)* or Coleman Line can score, defend and physically damage the opposition. Coleman could play on Bo's line while Podz gets his NHL training from Motte and Laugton on the 3rd.
  14. Overall, it kind of sux for the Cdn teams. But then again, the NHL is generally slanted heavily in the US teams' favour. The big question mark is how ready will Podz be? I think he will be able to join the 3rd line after several games. If he can jump up to the 2nd by January, that would be fantastic. Miller/Bo/Podz = The freight train line. I've always been interested in seeing what Motte could do on that line; maybe he could play there until Podz is ready. Definitely need to find a solid 3C for next season. Need an upgrade on RD as well. I am hoping that the Nucks grab the Pearson 2nd and any other pick or prospect they can get and put it towards unloading Loui's 6M. If there ever was a time to have some extra cap $, it is in the coming offseason.
  15. The changes aren't enough to improve the team, so I would prefer to play out the year, get a top 5 pick and retool in the offseason. Definitely need to deal with the bottom 6. Need a solid (Laughton) 3C and a healthy Ferland/or Ferland like player(Coleman) and a grindy (Goodrow)4th liner. Hopefully, Podz will be ready next season. I dream of a Miller Bo Podz line at some point. It looks to be frightening to play against.
  16. Certainly would be a novelty draw, but not really the best situation for the team. If the Canucks trade Pettersson, it has to be for a big, powerful C, somewhat like Dubois. Hughes is smaller and less physical than Pete.
  17. Good points mil. I don't think the Canucks (should) add to the team until the offseason (unless something came along that is spectacular value), so if they have to retain salary for either contract, it wouldn't be an issue. Perhaps they can bump up the 4th to a 3rd pick for Sutts if they retain $ Is there any word on how the NHL will carry out the Playoffs? I can't imagine teams going back and forth over the border. Wonder if they'll do an Edm bubble situation like last year.
  18. A 2nd for Pearson and a 4th for Sutter is a fair trade. Keep in mind that Sutter is a UFA at the end of the season. These are at TDL, so the salary cap will not be much. Playoff teams need to stock up on players to take a run. What's Covid got to do with it? I believe the requirement is 2 negative test while isolating for a few days.
  19. It didn't start out that way. The 2nd pp minutes were reduced over a number of games because they couldn't get anything going.
  20. Yeah, the #1 PP is doing fine (although this group of talent should be doing better). The real worry is the #2 PP, which is downright dreadful.
