  1. If they go 4+4 they will lose they will lose either Cirelli or Cernak. Whatever way you look at it, Seattle will take one of Cirelli, Cernak, Foote, or maybe Mathieu(rfa).
  2. Next year could look quite different. Sutter is gonzo, Roussel should be traded (retain some salary) or bought out, only one of Gaud/Virt will be here. One way or another Eriksson will be gone. Some excellent UFAs will be available. *Ferland/Coleman Laughton(3.5m) Motte(1.22m) Goodrow(2.5M Beagle(3M) Mac(825.0) Gaudette(1.5m)
  3. The only other option for 3C is Gaud and he's far worse at faceoffs or handling the defensive chores (Sutts is still an effective shutdown guy who plays a lot of PK mins). Also, this year Gaud can't score. I can see JB trading Pearson, Sutter and maybe Benn at the trade deadline. Benn is good depth and the other two would be very helpful to a contending team. As far as Jake goes, I wouldn't mind Green trying to spark him on the 2nd line, but I don't think there are any guarantees there.
  4. I was thinking of TB. They have a lot of good FWs, (8 are signed above the $4.5 mark), which means they could lose one of: Johnson, Cirelli, Kilhorn, plus a bunch of RFAs including Mathieu (who is looks promising). In the D department, they are also looking to possibly lose one of Cernak or Foote (both RDs). I haven't looked at other teams, but it wouldn't surprise me if some of them are running into similar problems.
  5. Except for teams trying to unload a player they can't protect at the ED. They'll be wanting to get something (likely a pic or prospect for the player). It could be a windfall if the Nucks could pick up a good FW, if they decide only protect 6 they can add the new guy.
  6. Wouldn't that use up a year of his ELC though? Unless there's drastic change, the Canucks are likely to be playing golf after the regular season. I think they should sign him for next season.
  7. In Burr's case, I think coaching for the Canadiens is a dream. He grew up loving that team; it's his homeland. I can see him eventually getting the #1 job in Montreal and then (as with all coaches) he will be fired and head over to Vancouver. So happy for him. What a tremendous career.
  8. Just turn it on to see the goal. For a second, I thought the Nucks were playing the Wings. In fact, the Coilers even looked like the current Wings on that goal
  9. The amateur draft will be held on July 23–24, 2021
  10. I don't see any point in picking up a player who will be a UFA at the end of the season. Especially as he will have to isolate for 14 days and then attempt to fit into the Nucks team/system (however long that takes). The ED makes all trades difficult. If per chance the Canucks find a player that comes with an ED dumping price tag, they will have to determine if he should be protected over Hughes, Myers or Juolevi. Otherwise, he's just a short term rental.
  11. I agree that Eichel is a better C than Pete and his physical superiority makes him a more complete player. The 2yr difference in age needs to be acknowledged though, as both players have almost identical #s in their first 2 years in the NHL. This year appears to be an anomaly for many players throughout the league; including Pete and several of his teammates. For whatever reason(s), EP is not performing as expected, but at just 22yrs, it would be unwise to think that what you have seen is as good as it gets for Petterson. I really don't know what Buff would want for Eichel, but I really doubt Chatfied or Virtanen would be included on the mix. I suspect that 8yrs of top 10 draft picks and 9 years of no P/Os, would indicate that they aren't searching for more draft picks either. They have some excellent players on their team who are struggling, so they might want to shake things up a bit. More like restructuring than rebuilding; the team as it is, is looking like a team with no chemistry or character.

  13. They sure do. I like the dark blue sooo much better than the current blue.
  14. I don't get worked up about the really daft proposals. There are some very young and inexperienced fans onboard, as well as sprinkling of fans who understand the endless (short term and long term) details in running/building an NHL hockey team. I'm certainly not one of those. It's great that the more knowledgeable fans can share their experience and educated views with others on the forum. Regardless, it's just a fan board. Have some fun, a few laughs, learn something new and GCG.
  15. In reality, if we "ignore all that and go with what makes you feel better so we can make bad decisions and affect the future of the team" isn't what will happen. It's fun for fans to gab about what they want to see happen for the team, but the reality of it, is their ideas rarely come to fruition.
  16. I don't think what you, me or anyone else on this board thinks or feels has a factor in what management chooses to do. The Teams's management group are privy to a lot of details regarding the team's future that fans are unaware of. I would find it hard to believe that they haven't considered the concepts of what you are stating in your post.
