  1. I did think Tierney would be a great trade, but thought Ott would find it slanted in the Nuck's favour.
  2. Shotgone Jake Not much to offer for Jake there, as team needs are 3C and solid, stay at home RD. Maybe pick up DeBrusk and flip him. Perhaps something in the prospect/pick realm. Jake/Loui for a late rounder maybe?
  3. Oh, another Green/Benning bashing thread. Certainly unnecessary, as its doubtful anything new can be added to the many pages and pages on this subject.
  4. I saw the Virtanen tweet, but haven't seen anything about the others. You got a link, Phill?

  6. Not really. He has a 10 team no trade contract that may or may not have Seattle on it.
  7. A lot of years. Hockey Boy is in his prime; the other two are still developing and are already better in P/O games.
  8. Not a fan of tanking. Seems to me, the only person that can create 'the tank' is the coach, as he determines who plays on each line and who their line mates are. I can't imagine asking a player to tank, as it goes against the makeup of any pro athlete that has any pride. The coach that agrees to attempt a tank, runs the risk of being viewed as deceitful, which could ultimately have a negative effect on player coach relations. It's a bit too early to determine who the top picks will be and even more difficult, as many of the top contenders are not even playing this year (so far). The way things are going for the Canucks, they will be a lotto team and maybe even end up with a high draft pick. Whatever the case, I hope they pick the BPA, rather than getting sucked into the fantasy of brothers playing on the same team. If Hughes is the BPA, then fine, but don't bypass better players for him.
  9. Maybe so. Marner has played 164 more NHL games though, which is quite a lot at their age.
  10. Definatly RD is a huge need; especially a guy that can play 2nd pairing. I think 3C is also a need; especially with Sutts last season. I forgot about the ED coming up. Hope JB and staff are checking over all the rosters in the NHL. Probably more than likely to find a RD, but I'm still hopeful for Scott Laughton. Flyers have so many good Cs that their bound to lose 1. Wishful thinking....I know.
  11. Debrusk is on IR. Nucks need a rough and tough RD more. I would much rather have Brandon Carlo please! Boston gets Virtanen and Chatfield. Van may have to give up another piece. I doubt Bruins would let Carlo go though. Bruins would rather trade Kevan Miller, who's rough and tough, but not as good as Carlo.
  12. I just named 10 rebuilding teams that have gone at least 10 years struggling. Some teams' fans went 17 and 22 years of horrid hockey. The Canucks were very competitive in the playoffs last season. This season is an anomaly. They will be better more competitive next season; especially if they end up with a top 5 pick in the draft.
  13. Well, I had some time on my hands, so decided to have a good look at some other rebuilt/rebuilding teams have fared. The Avs completed their rebuild after 10 years struggle. Jets took 6 years, but the (Atlanta Thrashers) only qualified for P/Os just once in 10 yrs NYI had back 2 back rebuilds. 16 out of playoffs and 6- 1st round loses over 22yrs. Hurricanes 9yr rebuild. Devils 8yrs and still at it. Blue Jackets 13 out of P/Os, 3 1st round losses in 17yrs. And then we have the mighty Leafs. 10 out of playoffs and 5 1st round losses in 17 years. Canuck fans are always arguing over when the rebuild started. I think the rebuild started when they were disqualified from the P/s in 2014. For the other teams, I only started the rebuild after they had a significant stretch of not qualifying for P/Os along with a small sprinkling of 1st round losses. Canucks rebuild stats are 5 out of playoffs, (1) first round loss and last season (1) second round loss. Not looking so bad after considering these other teams. I guess I could have added the Oilers, Coyotes and Sabres records, but we know how bad is bad. After looking this list over, I have surmised that a lot of Nuck fans are: impatient, Nuck centric, and spoilt.
  14. Podz won't be on the team until next season. A lot can change during the off season, so I wouldn't assume that next year will be a repeat of this one. Holding VP back another year would be a massive disappointment for him. Hoglander may be playing on a losing team, but he certainly plays like he is unaffected by it. Proving to himself that he is NHL ready is a huge step; especially realizing he's on the top 6. I'll bet he believes his team can be much better; even if this season is a loss.
  15. TO is showing the other Canadian teams that a proper rebuild takes a minimum of 15 years. Of course, we'll have to wait and see if they can get past the 1st round in the playoffs though.
  16. Now you're talking. That would make this season damn worth it. Can you imagine those boys skating all over the ice? Mind-boggling comes to mind.
  17. I don't know what's going on with JT, but he certainly can play better. Even so, he has 13pts in 11 games, which is pretty good considering that he is 'struggling'.
