Good point. Just doesn't seem to have a clue, does he?

Ha ha. I just had to give Taylor a shout out. He took a lot of flack for being an underachieving 8th overall, but I think he worked hard during the games. As for being a tough guy, his problem was that he was a big guy with a kind heart. The horrible loss of his fiancé had a negative effect on his career.

I think Jake needs to be traded; more for his sake, than the teams'. Imo, he is extremely immature for his age, which is creating havoc on his development. Playing in Vancouver may be a dream for Virtanen, but it is also a huge distraction; especially for a young man that can easily get distracted by the amount of attention on 'the local boy'. Being a top 5 pick increases the fan expectations and the notoriety. I suspect that if he were traded to big, American city, he would automatically become 'just hockey player'. The lack of attention and lower expectations may support an environment where Jake could focus more on his game, rather than 'being a superstar in his hometown'. If he doesn't put a solid effort/commitment into his game, he runs the risk of being traded again and sadly, it's anyone's guess where he ends up. I

Taylor Hall is an excellent player, no doubt. The Canucks are going to struggle with cap issues this year, so it would be very unlikely for them bring on a 9M contract. They have to re-sign Marks, (hopefully) Toff and replace/resign Tanev; which may only happen if they can somehow unload the Loui contract. Poor Taylor though. He will be 29yrs old in November and has only played 14 playoff games. The majority of Canuck players will have 15 games under their belts after tomorrows game. Hopefully he will find himself playing on a decent team at some point during his career.

[Proposal] Virtanen to Montreal

My brother-in-law's uncle has a friend who's 2nd cousin knows a neighbour of a sister who used to have a friend who knew one of Jake's teachers in grade 10. -
I am not a Jake hater or lover, but I do find him a very frustrating player to follow, due to his inconsistancies. Imo, coming to camp out of shape shows a lack of commitment and focus on his hockey development; especially if it's true he was physically unprepared for his team's playoff run. His going out to a bar with his buddies two days before entering the bubble also shows a lack of commitment and immaturity. I don't know if he sat in the doghouse for full 2 years, but he certainly has had a lot of time in it. I would suggest his reason for being there are due to the lack of commitment and focus on his development. I agree that he is a good complimentary middle 6 player, but he has had to earn it by learning a more complete game. That is not 'trying to fit a square peg in a round hole'; it is forcing him to learn to play hockey the right way. Jake is 24yrs old now. He needs to begin showing the consistency that we're all waiting for. He can start off by competing in the next two with the same energy and grit he did in game 5.

Well, hockey is a team sport and the goaltender is part of the team. Isn't that what happened during last year's playoffs when the Binnington bailed the Blues out a few times? The comeback started just after the halfway mark of the 2nd. 3 unanswered goals and holding the opposition at bay for the entire 3rd period (without 2 of your top 4 dmen) shows a lot of character and dare I say it...Moxie. This is something that has been lacking in our team for quite some time. As I said earlier: when the Nucks are playing their fast - paced, high energy, tape to tape game; they are very difficult to play against. At the moment, they haven't learned to play this way consistently. Fortunately, that will improve with time.

Doesn't really matter though, does it? If it did cross the line, it was after the buzzer, so it's still a W. The Canucks with 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd and held the Blues off the scoreboard for the 3rd. The better team won. Incredible victory for this team; especially without 2 of their top 4 dmen. The learning curve for this team right now is huge.

Crucial game for this team, not only because of the win. The development and character building we are watching during these games is the future of the young core. When they play that quick passing elite kind of game, they can beat any team. They just need to build on the consistency. I'm getting goosebumps at the description that somebody made regarding Podkolzin "a high skilled Motte". Make my day! Oh yeah...and F...U Mr. Ferraro...
