  1. Yeah, I think so too. Our guys were clicking pretty good in the ozone a few times. They just have to deal with the heavy hitting going on. It can't be easy always having to watch your back. They will prevail.
  2. Great looking dog, GM. Beautiful, soulful brown eyes. I lost my best buddy in January and still feel the loss. Moxie was 12yrs old. 72lbs. Collie/G. Retriever mix. Always at the ready to play.
  3. I love Tof's game and it seemed like, for a short while, that our team finally had a real top 6. I was so disappointed when he got injured. It would be fantastic to have the lotto line along with Bo, Pearson and Tof as our top 6. As far as trading Boes, well that is plain nonsense. Some peeps just don't understand that sometimes it takes a player a lot of time to heal from injuries. When I saw the team play the jets, I knew right away that Boes' wrist was ok. So happy to see the return of the speedy wrister.
  4. Sweden's population is more comparable to Ontario, which has half the # of cases and 3000 fewer deaths. Canada's death rate is higher due to the horrible situation in Quebec's care homes. I haven't heard anything about genetic immunity. Right now it sounds like speculation. I think the reason the death rate is lower than the previous pandemic in 1918 is: 1. The general health and the modern healthcare systems are far superior nowadays. Imagine what the death rate would be like without ventilators. There was poor access to face masks, hand sanitizers and even soap and hot water. 2. WW2 was in full swing. The soldiers in the trenches were facing horrible living conditions; their declining health made them vulnerable to the flu. More soldiers died from the flu than actual battles. The movement of soldiers and return to their homelands spread the infection. 3. The Spanish Flu lasted for 2 years and had 3 waves. The first wave was considered mild, but the (mutated) 2nd wave was devastating. Covid 19 has only been in full force for several months. Experts are warning us of a second wave in the fall. They are saying that it will likely be far worse. We know very little about the new Coronavirus, so anything is possible. At the very least, it should be taken seriously and everyone needs to be following the protocols. Seeing as the virus is more infectious indoors, due to poor air circulation and close quarters, I don't see colder weather as a plus. Covidiots will just move their parties indoors. Same goes for the restaurants and bars.
  5. Kole has impressive #s in the AHL last year. He will have decent size when he fills out and can be a scrappy player when needed. I could see him starting on the 3rd line and then competing with Podz for the 2nd later on.
  6. And here I thought there would be some news on Juolevi. Silly me!
  7. A terrific hockey player; an awesome Canuck; and a wonderful British Columbian. All the very best wishes for a great retirement.
  8. There's no way Jake would have been picked in the 2nd or 3rd round. Have a look at that draft year; there's questionably 10-15 players in the 1st that have played better than Virtanen. Yes, he has not played like a 5th overall is expected, but nor have many other people in his draft played as well as expected.
  9. Jake may never play like folks expect a 5th overall draft pick should, but comparing him to a player that couldn't make it to the NHL is unfair. Goldy never became an NHL player because he couldn't learn to play the complete game. Virt has shown improvement in his game each season so far. He now can play on a checking line or a scoring line, which makes him an asset to the team.
  10. Regular season type BS calls. Laughable really. Somebody tell the refs that this is the SC playoffs.
  11. Hopefully the bulk of these new cases are people that are already in isolation due to the contact tracing. Some of them will be having symptoms now and would probably want to be tested. Unfortunately, it seems that the increase in infections is a common factor in phase 3. If this continues as it is, I suspect we will start seeing restrictions in our daily activities at some point. Lots of businesses and their employees will suffer and there will be more debt racked up in our province. Nevertheless, I sure am getting tired of hearing about all these yahoos out partying and having a great time, while the rest of us are doing our best to follow the protocols and keep the infection rate down. I think it's time to get the word out that stiff fines are coming their way. Just need a few recipients to set an example and the word will get out very quickly.
  12. Well said, Rick. Way too early to be comparing Hughes (after 1 season) to the greatest D man ever. Quinn might even reach or surpass some of Orr's stats and maybe even his awards; especially since Orr only played 10 season (only full games in 4 of them). And then had to walk away from the game in his prime. We all know that Orr contributed so much more than just his point stats. He was a tremendous leader on his and was tough as nails. He also turned Esposito, Hodge and Bucyk into elite players. I do see a lot of Orr in Quinn's skating, as he weaves through multiple players and takes the puck to wherever he wants. Hughes is a special player and will blaze his own trail. He will stand out on his own merit; regardless of what current or past dmen achieve.
  13. Seeing them jell as a team and become a much more difficult team to play against is huge. They are developing individual and team character, which also bodes well for the future. Speaking of the future...it sure is looking bright!
  14. Unlike Dahlen, Hogs' style of play will always make him useful as a bottom 6 player. Keep in mind that Hogs has been playing in Sweden's top professional leaque for the past 2 season, whilst (22yr old) Dahlen continues to dwell in the lower level SEL. If Hogs' development continues at a good pace in the SHL, I have no concerns about his performance in the AHL. I wouldn't be pencilling him into the top 6 within the next couple of years either. I'm not even certain about the idea of Podz jumping into the top 6 as quickly as others are suggesting.
  15. Lots of Covidiots here in Canada... Thousands rally in downtown Montreal to protest Quebec mask rules | CBC News
  16. I was really turned off the 'Covid' games; especially after watching an earlier game (Montreal). I missed the fan reactions and it just seemed like there was no feedback for the Refs questionable decisions; giving them way too much power. I didn't watch the 1st Canuck game, but checked out the 2nd/3rd periods of game 2. Short term: I got hooked and watch the reamining 2. I am so impressed with out team, each and every player. It's so great to see the previoulsy injured guys playing how we always expected them to play. Brock has his guick release back, Sutter has his SC game back, Tanev plays injury free, Pearson playing like a playoff beast, Meyers removing anyone coming near the net and of course, the injury plagued...Olli Juolevi getting his first NHL game under his belt. Really excited to see how this team is coming together. Their character is no longer in question. Thinking about the upcoming rookies (Podz, Hogs, Rathbone, etc) is making me feel giddy about the future of the Vancouver Canucks
  17. So true. Blaming the health and government officials for what our homegrown covidiots are doing is senseless. Seems they are also piglets as well... https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/johnson-lake-environment-damage-camping-covid-19-overcrowding-1.5679181 These kids that are ignoring the protocols, think that they are invulnerable. Unfortunately, this is a new virus and nobody really knows what to expect in the future. Just because a person has a mild case, doesn't mean that they have gone unscathed. Their lack of discipline has put us in a precarious position; espeically with the possibility of a 2nd wave in the fall. It won't surprise me if all parks and campgrounds are shut down in the near future; ruining the summer for everyone else. It will probably put the reopening of schools on hold, which is awful for the thousands of children that really need to get back to their routine.
  18. Great to see the boys battling so hard, the way they did. They really showed what the Wild really are.
