  1. Oh, but that's on an exceptionally 'good' day
  2. Sid may be 5'11, but he weighs in at 200lbs; while Conor is 5'10 (on an exceptionally 'good day') and weighs 165lbs. That is a significant difference when dealing with the board battles. So I'll give the benefit to Brock (when he feels like it). Earlier in this thread a poster put up a comparison between Brock and Conor analytics, which clearly show that Garland is (currently) the better player. One can see this simply watching the games. Anybody calling themselves a Canuck fan is hoping that we'll get to see the old Brock return. Time is of the essence.
  3. For sure. It's clearly in his head and/or in his (injured) body. If it's due to injuries, he may never be the player he once was. If the past rehabilitation didn't fully mobilize the (wrist or back) injuries, It may have become more of a chronic situation.
  4. Not if it includes foot speed. If that's the case, then it is a worse problem than the good speed issue.
  5. There's been so many changes since Tryamkin played for the Canucks, so I think it could be viewed as a fresh start for him. As you have mentioned, there would be a lot of perks, in terms of comfort level with the effect of the Russian injection on the team. The biggest factor will be the term and cap hit.
  6. Don't compare this kid to Gaudette and Madden; offensively skilled players geared to play in the top 6. They can't make the NHL because their offence isn't good enough for top 6 and they don't have what it takes to play on the bottom 6. McDon has a more complete game and seems to have a competitive nature that could land him into a bottom 6 situation at some point. Be sure, if this kid can end up on the Canucks 3rd or 4th line, we should be very happy. With his skills, he would likely make a difference on whichever line he plays on.
  7. Nucks need to pick the best available C at the draft and then find a way to sign Livingstone. Nobody will care about the 1st or the 2nd that was traded away. Add a capable 3C UFA (placeholder)x2yrs and a scrappy bottom 6 W and we're good to go. If they can find these 2 players via trade; even better.
  8. Don't worry Alf, be happy. Bo has left the building. Let it be.
  9. I know it hurts and you're feeling angry, but this in due time shall pass my friend.
  10. Alf, you're starting to sound like a jilted lover. Breathe deep and let him go.
  11. I would think it imperative for Tocchet to have a good look at Hogs' game. He will no longer be waiver exempt. So he may not get another chance. Send Podz down for a while and give Nils some ice time to prove himself. Podz has already made the team, so let him go to Abby and work on his offence.
  12. I can see some teams circling back to JT after their failure in the playoffs. The way he's playing right now is driving his value up. There may be a very enticing offer after the SC final is played and through to the draft.
  13. I understand what you are saying, but don't agree that the way things have been will be the same in the future. One thing we know about Miller, is that he loves to be challenged. Tocchet knows this and is challenging JT to take on the leadership role and play the game 'the right way.' Tocc's influence has led to various improvements in Miller's game. He is proving he can be a significant C and play the game like a power forward. His defensive game is solid and his passes are complete. So far, he is managing to stay in control of his emotions, but retain his passionate drive. Whether he is chosen as the C or not, JT will be a significant leader on this team for quite some time. Pete will do it reluctantly, but Miller would embrace it.
  14. Definitely; they need to assess his skill level. They will probably rotate him up and down the lineup to see where he might fit. That way, they will be able to tell him what he needs to work on in the offseason.
  15. The Islanders want Bo to score goals and win faceoffs. I wouldn't say he 'stuggles' defensively; he is better than average. NYI are a defensive team that are lacking in offence. By adding a +30g player, they have improved their game a lot. It will be interesting to see how they fair in the playoffs.
  16. Bo is a proven 30g scorer, which is something the Islanders haven't had in many years. NYI are happy. His increase in points this year was no accident; he worked hard throughout the offseason to improve his shot, which will sustain his 30g seasons and maybe even add a few extra goals along the way.
  17. Nope, not an excuse; just a greater challenge for him to meet. He's used to scoring goals without a playmaker. He'll be fine.
  18. I always find it odd when folks that follow professional sports, struggle with understanding how an injury for a pro athlete can have such a significant impact on his/her game. And then there's the high stakes that push the player to 'play through the injury; only dragging the process into an even longer, downward path. I'm glad they have shut him down for the season and am hopeful that he'll come back ready to play next season. If he plays like he did last season, I will be very happy. Nucks need a healthy OEL.
  19. Has Bo been making excuses? As we have witnessed, Bo has the ability to adjust his game and do the 'one man scoring machine' as he did with the Canucks. Not such an easy thing to do in the east, but he'll find a way to score.
  20. For sure. The work PA put into acquiring Kuzy has me feeling more positive about the Livingstone signing. If he has to offer up more than other teams, so be it. If he can sign Livingstone, then I think can convince Hirose to join the team. This could be a huge game changer for the Canucks.
  21. Unfortunately acquiring Livingstone is a huge part of improving the defence. PA has to do whatever can be done to get this kid signed. I would be like acquiring another 1st round pick; probably top 10. I like that PA is also interested in Livingstone's defensive partner (for the 3 seasons) Akito Hirose. They both played their Jr years in the BCHL and have had similar #s during their entire careers. I notice that they were born just a week apart. A nice pair of defensive bookends. Get 'er done PA!!!!!!
  22. Barzal is a playmaker. It's been a long time since he has had a goalscorer to set up. The team/fans were really excited to see what kind of numbers the Barzal/Horvat pair would put up. Sadly, his injury is the main reason that Bo's shooting % has fallen off so badly.
  23. Well...just like they were offered the choice whether to get vaccinated, they will also have the choice to accept donated blood, or not. All is fair in the free world.
  24. The Nucks will have a good look at him when he joins up for the rest of this season. They'll have a pretty good idea where he stands, in terms of other young players. Podz has made the team; the coaches love his game. The problem for Hogz is that he is an RFA at the end of the season and will no longer be waiver exempt, which might work against him.
