  1. If Boeser is for sale, Minni pays the biggest lute for Sir Boes. We're talking their 1st (14th overall) + Dumba for Boes + Tanev. In reality, all of this speculation on the Boeser contract/signing is BS.
  2. To be fair, Gaudette was a 5th round pick; Boes a 1st round. Most rookies are treated gently when it comes to their 1st year; mostly people want to give them some time to adjust and learn where they can fit it. I don't think Adam is worth a 1st round pick in the draft this year either, but he will likely improve his game over the next few years. I mean , look at Burr. He managed 9pts in 81 games and already 25yrs old. It's also easier to learn the NHL game as a W than a C.
  3. Yeah, the 2011 team had the better roster for sure. The 1994 team were not projected to go as far as they did, which made it all that more exciting. They went through incredible odds, but still managed to win most of their battles and came closer to winning the cup than any other Canuck team. Fans were disappointed, but incredibly proud of their team. The 2011 finals were full of controversy and as you say, a depleted team lipping into the final game. This team was projected to 'win it all' and the fans were not only disappointed, but feeling very cheated. Of course, some of the awesome fans of Vancouver decided it was a great time to riot in the streets after both final game losses.
  4. So true, Jimmy. Not a good idea for a team management to treat a ufa badly either as it could come back and bite them later on. Best to wait until next year when Loui's NTC becomes modified, (he has a list of 15 teams on his no trade list). His salary drops to 4M (still 6M cap hit). Makes it easier to trade at that point (even if some retention is required). I'm not to worried about Loui's salary cap right now as the Nucks aren't desperate for cap space yet. If it keeps JB from blowing a wad on another big contract that's fine by me. I don't want to see my team end up in cap hell like so many of the others.
  5. Nigel Dawes is the leagues 2nd best in points and 1st in goals. KHL has really lost it's status over the years..
  6. And what a great battle it was. The best TEAM the Canucks ever had. All heart and pride. I've never seen a team that deserved the SC more.
  7. Seeing as I think his speed is very good, I disagree with your comments. The 2 web pages I offered are considered some of the best sights for their scouting reports. Whenever I've had a chance to watch the US team he looked like a good skater to me. So, here I am defending a player who isn't even in my top 3 (reasonable) picks for the Nucks this draft. Regardless, I think Caulfield will drop in the draft, just as De Brincat did, but not as low. Probably around 15th or so. Oh be quiet, Alf. We already know you hate undersized players; except the ones that play for the Canucks.
  8. According to The Athletic's information, I quote... "I chuckled when I saw Boston in the short camp. Even with 81-inch giant Zdeno Chara, the likes of Frank Vatrano, Matt Grzelcyk, Torey Krug and Brad Marchand — all listed at 5-foot-9 — bring down the average. Without Chara, they’d be an average height of 72.1, by far the shortest team in the league." According to said article, Boston comes in at 23rd overall for weight.
  9. Yep...bit is the key word. Gretz and Coff points are out of this world. Can's see anyone topping those guys.
  10. Based on the previous season totals, they surely are. https://theathletic.com/210035/2018/01/12/sizing-up-the-nhl-2017-18-nhl-teams-by-age-height-and-weight/ The only data I see on the net for this past season, is the following, but I don't have a subscription. https://theathletic.com/579795/2018/10/10/sizing-up-the-nhl-2018-19-nhl-teams-by-age-height-and-weight/
  11. OK, we agree to disagree on Caulfield's skating ability. Perhaps your view of small players makes you a tad bias against them? St. L and Wa are big teams for sure, but so are Dallas, Winn and To (Who didn't fair well this year). Boston and Vegas (last year) are a fair bit smaller and have managed to defeat a number of teams in playoff rounds. Pitts has done pretty well in the past as well. It seems pretty even when you compare the number of teams that are on top of the size chart with the bottom that are not playoff ready. Pretty even steven. Will be interesting to see how the Bruins fair with the Blues.
  12. I don't how you guys have devalued Caulfield's skated level to 'struggling.' Time to do some reading, boys... https://thehockeywriters.com/cole-caufield-2019-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ " What Caufield lacks in size, he makes up with in speed, a great motor and an unreal release." "He’s a silky-smooth skater that traverses all three zones with jump and jam." Strengths Deadly shot/release Skating and speed Soft hands Willing to go to dirty areas of the ice" https://lastwordonhockey.com/2019/04/15/cole-caufield-scouting-report/ Skating "Caufield is a very good skater. While he has very good top end speed, his best attributes are his acceleration and agility. Caufield can dart in and out of open space quickly. He changes speeds and fools defenders as a result. He uses his edges very well and moves laterally with ease. This helps him to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, both with and without the puck. As mentioned Caufield lacks size. However, he has a very strong lower body and powerful stride. This gives him excellent balance and he is tough to knock off the puck or beat in battles in front of the net." He may not be an elite skater, but he certainly is a very good skater whom, at 18yrs, has plenty of time to improve. Fact is, his elite goal-scoring skills make him the top shooter in this year's draft. If the team that chooses him has a top playmaking C to feed him, he will scores an awful lot of goals in the NHL.
  13. I like Soderstrom a lot; especially with Hughes (he has the talent to keep up with Quinn, but is also defensively sound). He is an elite skater, great hockey sense and actually does have an offensive upside (unbeknownst to CDC). While other kids are playing in Jr leagues, or lesser Euro leagues, Soderstrom is playing in the top adult league in Sweden. Doesn't hurt that he is a RD as well. Boldy is also a very good choice on the left side and his style of play seems like the ideal linemate for Pete. I also like Krebs, du to the lack of playmaking talent on the Canucks. If he ended up on Pete's line, his style of play would force Pete to shoot more. It doesn't hurt that he plays C and LW. I would be happy if JB picks any one of these 3 players.
  14. That applies to everyone on this forum. Might as well shut down this topic, if professional scouting is required in order to comment. It's just a fan forum Bro. Lighten up.
  15. Me thinks drummerboy likes the big girls.
  16. OMG Bo is sooooo underpaid. They ought to buy him a house or something.
  17. The 20goal players you mentioned earlier have at least 60pts (Voracek), while the others are pretty much a pt a game players. They have strong playmaking abilities, which I have never seen in Jake. He is a shooter, so I don't expect him to get much past the .5 pr game mark. As he develops the other aspects of his game, he may find a permanent spot on the 2nd or 3rd line. I don't see him as a good fit with Pete and Brock. I'm not sold on the low IQ line either, but that was brought up during his draft and was rated a 3/5, which gave him the permanent reputation. Jake seems immature for his age, which wasn't helped by rushing him into the NHL at a very young age (and being the home town golden boy made it even more difficult). As he matures, his ability to focus on the details of the game will increase, as will his awareness of his potential to create a significant role on his team. For me, Jake can be a frustrating player to follow, but it's way to early to give up on this young man.
  18. Boes' a shooter not a playmaker, whereas Pete is both. This is why it would be great if the Canucks select Krebs at the draft. Krebs is a pure playmaker and can play LW (although he is a C). His tape to tape passes will allow Pete to shoot more. Too bad we won't see Krebs for a couple of years, but maybe Baer stays healthy this year and can be a decent playmaker on that line.
  19. Lucic had 3 fights last year (same as Guddy) and one of them was with Tanner Glass lol. The real tough guy on the Oilers is Kas, who had 5 fights. The biggest problem is that the NHL doesn't care if their star players get targetted for dangerous hits and head shots.
  20. I have a feeling the Nucks acquire a late 1st. I'm thinking that NYR are really wanting rid of Shattenkirk's 6.5 x 2yr contract. JB takes the cap dump in in exchange for NYR (Jets) 20th overall. Probably need to sweeten the pot, but not by a whole lot. NYR are going for the big splash this offseason and will need the extra cap space. They also have a huge # of young prospects that are coming up quickly.
  21. Much better than the higher picks. Hopefully both teams will be a lot better by the time draft 2020 rolls around.
