Nah, just the Hughmungus troll.

I agree, although it is likely that Sutt's NTC includes Edm as a team he can't be traded to. Edm could use more cap space How 'bout Kris Russell cap dump 2yrs/ $4m and B. Manning (buried) 1yr/ 1.75m Total 5.175m LD still on ELC not named Juolevi. They would probably pick Brisbois or Sautner 2nd round pick.

Yeah, I don't get the comparison to Bertuzzi at all. Todd had Jake's current point total within his first 2 years in the NHL. Bert was mean and intimidating; a real game changer. So far, Jake is a pussycat in comparison.

Guess he didn't like Larionov's comment stating that Goldy was going to "pay the price with the summer workouts".

Stanley Cups (Pre 1968) before and after Expansion.

Why even bother playing for the SC, when you know that eventually...it will have an asterisk? -
Stanley Cups (Pre 1968) before and after Expansion.

Along with the EDs came a greater search for players outside of (mainly) Canada, which led to huge numbers of good players coming into the NHL from the US and Europe. The game has grown with regularly improved equipment and advanced strategies for player development. The scouting of players has also progressed. Most of the (cupless) expansion teams mentioned have had great chances at winning the cup and perhaps one of them just might this year. When a SC game goes to game 7 overtime, anyone can win it. I am much more concerned about the growing disadvantages for the Canadian teams in the league, what with the weak $, high taxes, gold fish bowl media and less appealing cities. The best managers, staff, coaches and players tend to choose the more attractive situations. I don't think the pioneers of the greatest game in sports should be asterisked. -
Zucker's contract, 4yrs @5m and a (M)NTC could become a problem unless he becomes the best the team can do for a top 6 LW. He just might though, if you consider the lack of C depth on the Wild this year. With play-making Granlund saucer passing to him last year, he managed 33 goals, which was the highest on the team (Parise was injured for half the season). He's definitely got great hands for scoring goals. Pettersson would likely make him a star. I don't know why Minny lets him go for cheap. The player I would love to see alongside Pete is Tyler Bertuzzi. The Wings are loaded with an incredible crop of LWs, including some promising prospects developing nicely. Tyler is only 24yrs old and will become an RFA after next season. His character and the way he plays seems like the kind of player management are looking for. He's like a high end Motte. Fearless, plays hard, buzz bomb agitator with top 6 skill. Detroit is very week in both R/L D; especially LD with Kromwall becoming a UFA. Perhaps Hutton or Tanev and a 2nd? Always scary dealing with Stevie Y, he's no fool and I suspect he really likes Bertuzzi. Me thinks Stevie would want 2020 1st though.

I think it would be a deal breaker for other teams as well. Baer needs to return in good health next season and have a great few months and then maybe another team might make a trade. It's too bad though, I think Baer could be a valuable top 6 player, but for the injuries.

Yes, it is odd considering the previous two drafts. I think the USD team is showcasing their player very well. Makes you wonder how well the individuals will do without their teammates. Those kids have been playing together for quite a long time, so there's bound to be a lot of chemistry there.

No, but I know of some Canuck fans I'd like to send packing.

I am ambivalent as well. I agree that using the draft is the way to go, but I also think that the team needs to continue making headway. I would like to see the team as contenders by the time the current core is around 23-27 yrs old. In order to do this, the team needs to upgrade players in key positions, which will help the core players reach their potential. This is unlikely going to come from the prospect pool, as those players are 2-4 years away from joining the club. Allowing young players to percolate in their development process is not a bad thing. We all know that LW and RD are needed right away, but it would also be great if a decent RW could be added to support Bo's line. If management chooses the route of signing high end players, they must be very careful with the big cap, terms and the upcoming Ex Draft. High end UFAs usually demand big salaries, long terms and NTC/NMCs, and that could be deadly for a team as it comes out of its rebuild. There is also the effect these signings could have on upcoming star RFAs and their signings. Every year has great UFAs coming up, so the team doesn't have to overload this year. Another choice for management is to sign UFAs that are solid players, that can be signed for shorter terms without the limiting clauses. A player like Maroon could be a good fit on Pete's line (he certainly fulfilled the need on McDs) and RHD Stralman could be good alongside any of the LD. For Bo's line, maybe Justin Williams on the right side. I wouldn't think that any of these guys would be expecting a long term or limiting contract. Give them extra $ if it keeps the contract short term, without limits. The big problem with adding to the team (even though improving), is what to do with the players they are replacing. Tanev, Baer and Sutter need to be healthy in order to get a decent trade, so should remain with the team for the short term. All RFAs should be retained; 2-way contracts for the unproven ones or simply let them walk. JB should be on the lookout to trade or package in a trade for any of these players. Canucks need to deal with Spooner and Schaller via trade, buyout or send to Utica. Next year will be the time to deal with Loui.

So long Honey Badger. You were one of my favourites. Live long and prosper!
