[Proposal] One Proposal and Steal with the Leafs
higgyfan replied to PunjabiCanucks's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
No to Kadri as he is heading into Torres territory if he doesn't get his sh*# together. He will have to change up his game significantly to do so, which may have a huge effect on his 'truculence'. No to Kapanen. Yeah he's putting up great #s, but look at who the C is on his line. He would not put those kind of #s on Bo's line; nor would he handle the heavy game that line has to play. The Canucks need a player like Josh Anderson, Boone Jenner or Tyler Burtuzzi, but would have to make a trade for those guys. I think I would weep with joy if JB found a way to acquire Anderson, but can't see the Jackets letting him. -
Kraken The kraken (/ˈkrɑːkən/) is a legendary cephalopod-like sea monster in Scandinavian folklore of giant size. According to the Norse sagas, the kraken dwells off the coasts of Norway and Greenland and terrorizes nearby sailors. Authors over the years have postulated that the legend may have originated from sightings of giant squids that may grow to 13–15 meters (40–50 feet) in length. The sheer size and fearsome appearance attributed to the kraken have made it a common ocean-dwelling monster in various fictional works. The kraken has been the focus of many superstitious sailors passing the North Atlantic and especially sailors from the Nordic countries due to their close proximity and its Scandinavian origin. Throughout the centuries the kraken has been a staple part of sailors' superstitions and mythos being heavily linked to sailors ability of telling a tall tale. Yeah but Miller brought some toughness to the team and protected the youth. -
Which player has impressed you in the playoffs so far

2pts in 2 games is twice as much as TO love child Matthews. -
Great. Maybe he doesn't need the ECHL after all.

I was surprised by Pettersson for sure. He became an NHL 1st line C, despite not playing C in Sweden. A+ Bo's incredible season was a surprise as well. Despite playing most of the season with questionable linemates (the season before he had Vanek and Boeser), as well as having to take on defensive duties with the Beagle or Sutter injuries. This year, he put up 1st line points, carried the team on his back often enough, took care of d-zone duties and sealed his captaincy. A+

Doesn't make any sense for the Canucks, so I call this rumour BS. Hughes will put up Gardiner #s soon enough; Edler already does (and will be re-signed for less than Gardiner) and Hutton will stay until Juolevi (or whomever) is/are ready. Need to have opportunities for the youngin's to join the team. Canucks need a RD

Tkachuk is looking like a huge pic for the Flames. Similar to Marchand, although I don't see the defensive game in Matthew. Hate both these players, but I can't deny how good they are. Oli remains a ? mark for the Canucks and the injuries have really slowed down his development. I find it hard to believe that he will ever become as important to the Canucks as Tkachuk is to the Flames, but if he becomes a top 4 dman I will be happy.

You might be right about Bowey, but he does have a blazing point shot, fantastic speed and a physical presence, which doesn't make me think of Pouliot. Detroit has (3) 2nd rounders in this draft...how 'bout Nucks 10th + 4th for Bertuzzi + 2nd (35 overall)? That way the Canucks get two chances in the 2nd round to pick up a decent RD. Not sure if Detroit would let go of their 35th overall though. Bertuzzi had a breakout season and looked tremendous down the stretch. TB Pete Boes or Pearson Bo TB

The problem with dealing with teams that are having cap trouble, is that they always want picks or prospects in return. They don't want NHL ready players that will put them over the cap. I would look at Detroit for 2 players that could be a great fit for the Canuck. It would probably mean giving up the 10th overall though (Yeah, this would be tough to swallow, but I think it makes the team better. Canucks get Bowey(RD) and Bertuzzi (L/R W). Bowey has a good point shot, skates well and is a physical player. He struggled in TB due to so many great dmen. Hasn't had many games with the Wings. He would look pretty good alongside Hughes. Burtuzzi is coming into his own and putting up some decent points. He can also skate well and play a physical game. Canucks become a much tougher team to play against with these 2 players. He can play on the left or right side, so could play on Bo or Pete's line. They were both drafted the same year as Horvat. Detroit ends up with 6 and 10 in the draft this year. They have Hronek (RD) and Zadina (LW) banging on the door to join the team and would easily replace Bowie and Bertuzzi.

[Discussion] Making a deal with the Devil!
higgyfan replied to SuperJr's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think Jack has a similar style to RNH, but his skillset is far more impressive. I hear him being comparable to Kane rather than RNH. As far as Brock goes; he will never have the elite skating or playmaking/passing skills that Hughes possesses. I do agree that it would be unwise to gut the youth core in a trade to get Hughes. This is what I would like to see as well; especially if the management team have their eyes on a player within that range. There will likely be a couple of very good players in that range that might be had in a trade. -
Now yer talkin'. More would have to be added, but Trouba would be a true #1 and rhd too boot.

All joking aside, can you imagine a line of Hall Petes Boes -
Really hoping big Jim finds a way to move up in the draft.

Yeah, whatever happened to that? -
Does anyone know how ED eligibility for a goalie is determined? # of games? # of seasons? Demko will only have +/- 8 games this season; does that count as a full season. Anyways...I think if they only keep one of our goalies, it's got to be Demko. He is only 23 (24 in Dec) and has played in a whopping 7 nhl games. I thought he played well in the majority of those games. Also, he has not had any significant time to develop his game with Clark. On the other hand, Marky (29) didn't really start to show well (as a backup) until he was 26 and then became a #1 after 2 yrs of working with Clark. Luckily, the Nucks have 2 seasons before the '21 TDL to make this difficult decision. By that time, Demko will have had almost 2 full seasons as a backup and the advantage of working with Clark.

Probably. It's been a long, gruelling season for Elias. He's pretty much carried the team and taken a lot of pounding along the way. Doesn't surprise me that he's fallen off in the later stages of the season. Put some muscle on this summer and he'll be good to go in September.
