  1. Doesn't usually work well on the internet.
  2. These are not words that are bandied about carelessly. Simply go through the Canuck roster and see how many players could be described this way. Maybe 7/8? He reminds me of Stecher, who I really didn't think would stick with the team when he was signed. Troy has become the 'dark horse' since then and is developing into a decent NHL defenceman. Teves is just a year older and appears to have many of the traits that Stech has utilized to develop into the player he has become. I am hopeful that this player can do the same.
  3. Why stop there? Add on fans of other teams, people that don't watch hockey, maybe run a survey in China. There must be a few more out there. Seriously though, StarGirl, the only similarity between Raymond and Virtanen is that they are fast skaters. That's it.
  4. Yes! You, Zhukini and Someone makes 3.
  5. And then he had a really bad concussion the following season.
  6. New name for the team: The Vancouver 420 with a logo of a big reefer (with native art of course). Nobody could complain that that has nothing to do with the city eh?
  7. His statement was a part of a conversation he had with PP before the player left for Finland. PP stated that he never heard feedback while he was playing in Utica. Not Johnson's job. Maybe coaching staff's job, but they haven't commented on PP's statement, so I can't get an accurate read on it.
  8. According to Johnson, Petrus needs to improve in the wall play, the compete and physicality before he returns to the AHL. He will get +++ ice time playing in Finland, so hopefully he can improve in those areas. It would be great if he can return to the Comets for next season. For a winger, 5'6" will make his road to the NHL very tough indeed.
  9. It's hard to say. His ice time is close to the lowest on the team, which indicates that he wasn't ready to be playing at that level. Just because he wasn't playing many games, I would think that he was still benefiting from the practices and certainly had +++ time in the weight room. The AHL is a developmental league, but the teams also have a responsibility towards their paying fans and owners. Developing a winning environment is important for the players, owners and fans. It looks to me that perhaps they should have moved Petrus earlier on. Palmu is a long shot to ever play in the NHL (6th round picks usually are). He has an uphill battle for sure.
  10. Not sure why peeps are blaming Johnson for the 'lack of communication. Clearly Palmu did this interview from Finland and is talking about his experience when he was on the team. This sounds like an issue (if there actually is an issue) with coaching, rather than GM. The statement Johnson makes from Nashville says that he talked to Palmu and explained to him what areas of his game required improvement. This statement is dated Dec.13. Comets GM Johnson: “Petrus is a good player and has a good skill set. It’s other details of his game — the wall play, the compete and physicality — that we feel still need to come along a bit. And playing sparingly is not the right process in his development.” No surprises here. It seems to me Johnson was pretty clear with Palmu on what he needs to do before returning to the AHL. "Many players underestimate the difficulty level of the AHL". R. Johnson Which translates to many player are reassigned to lesser leagues to continue their development.
  11. I'm thinking Guddy wants to be in the NHL and Try doesn't.
  12. Guess you forgot the season he scored 25 goals. Nuck fans would go nuts if Virt had a 25 goal season. I don't notice Virt falling down a lot though and I never saw Raymond lay out the kind of hits that Jake does. Well besides the skating, I don't think they have much in common after all.
  13. Baer is the best LW on the team; he would definitely have to be replaced by a player with equal or better skills (and more $). It's hard to say what he would be like in SC playoffs, as he's only ever played 2 games. He looked really good during Utica's run a few years back and he played well in his Jr. year. Baer has really improved his defensive game as well. The big concern of course, is the concussions. Regarding Tryamkin...nothing new here. Still another year on his KHL contract, so it will be a wait and see situation until the following season. Luckily the Nucks maintain his rights, so hopefully they can get something done. Fingers crossed.
  14. This. He will need to refine his game and make it simpler. I've never seen Hughes described as having low hockey sense, in fact, it is routinely suggested that he has great vision in his scouting reports. Aside from physical strength, the other weakness pointed out is his useless shot. He will need to put on more muscle (which might take a year in Utica) and I don't see him scoring much, but he'll get a lot of assists. Put him with a big and fast RD who is a more complete dman (Trouba please) and he will shine.
  15. If you think Bo lacks intensity, you probably having been watching the games. Who carried the team on his back throughout all those injuries? Yeah...Bo. He's a clutch player that wears the team colours; always.
  16. It's really hard to say, as we just see these guys in tv clips and read some of their comments. We don't know how they interact with their teammates. Captaincy isn't always based on who is the best player; see Toes/Kane. Bo seems to interact with his teammates a lot and I have heard former teammates mention him several times (just as Burr did last night). He seems to have the qualities of a good captain and certainly shows that he never gives up during a game. He already seems like the captain. If the team chooses EP, I would be fine with that. Bo is still a team leader.
  17. I don't think so. Pyatt is 6yrs older and has less offensive/defensive upside. He's going to Utica where he' ll be a good addition, although the Utica fans can't be happy about losing Archie.
  18. If his December stats are a signal for progression, he is far better. 9.40 I think it was. We'll see if this is a temporary 'blip' or a statement of his development.
  19. Yeah, I think he will be in for a bit of a shock in his first few NHL games. He won't get away with some of his plays and Green will be on him if he does any 'puck watching'. His other weakness is his lame shot. He is much more of a playmaker than a shooter, which should be ok with the firepower up front. I would love it if the Canucks could somehow acquire Trouba from the Jets, as he would match up well with Quinn with his physical game, speed and heavy shot.
  20. Way back when you were young and naive, eh Alf?
  21. They had to tank at the lottery or JB would have picked Nolan, Heiskanen or Maker.
  22. Yeah, I don't know what the relationship a penguin has with Pitts, but the logo is awful. I think the original Ana ducky one was gross as well. It's a controversial topic in Canuck land and it never goes away. The last time I saw a survey it showed that the majority of Nuck fans would rather keep the Orca. Everyone seems to want the VANCOUVER to go away though. I have to admit that I didn't mind the Johnny Canuck that was posted by @kilgore
