  1. Nope. Graphic depiction of a local sea mammal. Also includes native artwork. Johnny Canuck is a political cartoon hero (not necessarily a lumberjack) and later turned into a WW2 hero.
  2. I don't like cartoons on hockey jerseys. Looks unprofessional and childish. The current jersey has too much crap on it, what with shoulder badges and 'Vancouver' over the orca. My preference is just the orca, plain and simple. You don't approve of Orcas?
  3. And...Boqvist is almost a full year younger. He will be an awesome dman for Chi.
  4. Agreed. Gaud has proven he can play at the NHL level and it is apparent what he needs to work on to reach his potential. In Utica he would be the #1C and would have huge opportunities to increase his offensive game and skating abilities. He would be a real bonus to other offensive players on the team; especially a guy like Dahlen who needs some help improving his 5-5 game.
  5. And this season he well easily surpass the last one. At 22yrs (in 3 weeks) he is nowhere near his peak yet. Elias has a ways to go before he is in the McDavid discussion.
  6. Good point, Lou. He's in very new territory this year, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the change in his game. Hopefully we will see more Burr like comparisons.
  7. Yeah, Goldy does lack the intensity which will stop him from achieving his potential. I still see the LW position as great a need for the team as the RD. Very sad about Baer. Really thought this was going to be his breakout season.
  8. I haven't been a Goldy fan, but I have to give him credit for the improvements he's made in his game. It will be interesting how things shape up when Baer returns, as they will be competing for the same position(s). I think Baer is the better player overall, but he has had health issues and is 3yrs older. I think Green will move them around the top 3 lines to see where the best fit is. My preference is to have Baer in the top 2, but given his overall game, he would probably do a better job that Goldy on the 3rd line.
  9. Roussel is having his best season ever with 15 pts in 32 games so far. If he can stay healthy, he will easily beat his previous years totals. It would be awesome to see him put up 10-12 goals this season.
  10. Yes, it would surely stop headhunting, but I think it would probably put an end to most hitting altogether. Hockey is so fast and physical that a concussion can be the result of a clean hit, turned ugly due to the 'victim' dropping his shoulder or changing direction. The initial action is too quick to redirect in time to nullify the hit. There is no fault or intent in these situations. In the majority of cases, intent to cause injury is not factor. I think most players would seriously ease off on hits, rather than face a 40 game suspension. Now if you're talking about guys like Tom Wilson, who have had several violations (and very dangerous plays), then yeah...throw the book at them.
  11. I don't think they will be competing for the same job, as Gaudette will likely become the 2-way 3C and Madden will probably have to play top 6 RW. Gaudette's skating looked really good last night and he has a larger frame that he will build on. He will replace Sutter when the time comes. By the time Madden makes it to the NHL (if he does), Gaudette will have 3 or 4 years under his belt.
  12. I'm just a hockey fan and know very little about brain injuries. I do know that there have been many players (in all contact sports) throughout the years that have suffered dearly; both physically and emotionally from these concussion. I hope you're right, mil. Only the future knows for sure and she ain't telling us nothin'.
  13. He's been going through the concussion protocol for almost 2 months now. Combined with 4 previous concussions, I'd say his chances of a complete recovery isn't great. Crosby still complains of symptoms now and again, so I guess it's and individual choice. Personally, I don't think a few years of NHL hockey is worth risking one's future brain health.
  14. Suggestion: Stop reading this thread.
  15. Yeah, I don't know that anyone would want that on their hands.
  16. The Nucks hold their cards tight to the vest when it comes to injury updates, so it can be difficult to keep up. Regardless, the concern for his long term health is still there.
  17. You sound like my dead Grandpa. Wholly assumptions Grandpa!
  18. It would be very sad to see him retire, but it would be far worse to see the results of yet another hit to the head. He's fought so hard to get well, but it seems the rate of progress is not good. How very frustrating for him.
  19. My concern that he is one more hit away from being far worse than done in hockey. I sure hope his medical advisors know what they are doing and that they are clear about future potential head injuries.
  20. He's had a tough season with injuries and has only played 13 games. His #s are very similar to Marky, although Marky has played 10 more games. Panther fans are beginning to think that this season might be the beginning of the end for Lou.
  21. A 5'6 young man that was a 6th round pick in the NHL draft. Don't know why anyone would be surprised by this situation. Nobody to blame here, certainly not the Comets or the young man in question. Palmu has good skills and a lot of heart; just doesn't have the size and strength to play the NA pro game. It is best for him to go home and get the toi that he needs to improve his game.
  22. The expansion is several years away, so the roster may look quite different then. I can see guys like Sutter, Tanev, Baer, Guddy, etc traded by then. Also, there are quite a few rfas to be resigned during those years and some of them will have moved on as well. Eriksson will be a MNTC by then, which means he can be traded; so he can be left unprotected. I can see the Canucks making a deal with Seattle to take Loui at 50% retained (he will have 2 years left on his contract and they will pay 2m each per year). Canucks also offer up a draft pick or a roster player in the package.
  23. Best case scenario...Flames take them out in the first round. Flames are a better team overall; so are the Preds, Jets and Avs.
  24. Yeah, Hunter is a true hockey mind for sure. My buddy, who is a good hockey mind, says your buddy is full of $&!#e.
