  1. All 3 of those players have full NMCs. They make their own choices, so I doubt any of them would be agreeable to go to Phoenix (or any other bottom feeder team).
  2. I think Myers will be traded this offseason. If he's traded for a pic, the $6m can easily bring back 1 or 2 UFA RD that are suitable. I don't see Poolman as the answer to the team's lack of RDs. The Canucks do not need to bring in an all-star dmen to play alongside Hughes or OEL. They need grinding, defensive guys that can play +18mins a game. Somewhat like Schenn. UFA players like Miller, Lyubushkin and Ruutu come to mind. I like Miller, as I think he has a lot of potential, but has had the misfortune of playing for Buffalo the past 3yrs.. Lyubushkin would be a very good choice, but he may be inbigger demand. TB may be bringing Ruutu back for another season. Even getting 1 of those dmen would be significant for the Canucks. Hughes Miller/Lyubushkin OEL Schenn Rath Burroughs/Demmer JR has spoken about the lack of defensive system on the Canucks, which will likely be the #1 priority for the new d coaches. I think there will be a solid improvement on the defensive end in the coming season. Of course, the search for a much younger RD (of similar defensive qualities) will be ongoing.
  3. The more I read about this kid, the more I like the pick. Did you know that he tied P. Forsberg's record for most goals in the SHL for a 17yr old. Well, read on. I don't know if this has been posted before. Some interesting tidbits. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/7-fun-facts-about-canucks-draft-pick-jonathan-lekkerimaki
  4. Always a good idea to include a link so peeps can find out the details behind this rumour. https://sanjosehockeynow.com/san-jose-sharks-jonathan-dahlen-qualify-rfa/
  5. Great! Being creative and flexible is the key for Canuck management.
  6. The purpose of my post wasn't to argue the possibilities of specific trades; rather, just to indicate that trades can and will happen. As far as I am concerned, any trade for Miller has to include a viable RD for Hughes.
  7. The Kraken don't really have much in the way of RD. Larsson and Borgen are the only natural right shots; the others are lefties that can play right if need be. That's why I'm always proposing a trade for Myers to Seattle. Myers would be a great fit as their 2nd rd.
  8. Yikes. The mood is changing quickly and fans are becoming really negative. We haven't even gotten through UFA yet and there's still +++ offseason to go. Peeps are forgetting that we have a number of young players that will be returning to the Canucks a year older and with another season under their belt. Last year had a lot of ups and downs, but once Bruce pulled them together, the group of players became a team. Hughes, Pete, Demko, Podz, Hogs will be better players, Kuze and Rathbone might be great additions, Brock has something to prove and Bo has shown how he can up his game (as he did when the team was fighting to make the playoffs. There will undoubtedly be 2-3 additions to the team, regardless of the Miller trade. I do believe that Miller will be traded, but probably not for the gold mine some fans thought. Many things can happen over the next couple of months. For instance... perhaps Carolina steps up to a Miller for Necas + Pesce + 1st or Jersey goes for Garland for Mcleod + Foote maybe Kraken want Myers + Hogs for Donato + 2nd then Coyotes want Donato +(Kracken) 2nd for Crouse and Ducks want Pears for(Bos) 2nd and Vegas wants cap relief Ferland + (Car) 1st for Roy Crouse Pete Brock Kuze Bo Podz/Necas McLeod Roy Podz/Necas Foote Lammy HMore Lockwood Hughes Pesce OEL Miller/Lyubushkin Rathbone Schenn Dermott Burroughs **Vancouver still has their 1st and (Bos) 2nd for 2023 You may like all, some or none of these trades and that's fine. I only made the post to support the notion that there's lots of time for trades to happen this offseason. 6 trades in 1 season may be unlikely, but 3 would still help our team by supporting the core.
  9. 9 yrs is a long time in hockey years. What makes you think that all or any of those players would still be around?
  10. If Jason can be a consistent 3LW, I would be ecstatic. I would be very happy if he could reach his ceiling in Dallas. Nucks need to forget about him playing C.
  11. Florida, Texas, Tennessee, or any other team that is in a state with no or low taxes and a very low cost of living.
  12. Yes, I realize that. Just pointing out that teams will be checking out the top 3UFA forwards, hoping to avoid losing young prospects. Yes Forsberg went for top $, which will be the case for the other 2. Soon there will be teams scrambling to get Miller.
  13. Why would they whilst there are UFA players like Forsberg, Kadri, Gaudreau and to a lesser degree; Malkin, Giroux, ect? A team can pay the big bucks for one of the 1st 3 guys, but don't have to trade away any young players. Things will pick up once those 3 are snapped up.
  14. Other than the year Pete was injured, JT has played mostly the 1C alongside Pete and Boeser (6-40-9). Later on this year, it was with Pete and Pears. Meanwhile, Bo linemates have been...Pears, Jake, Loui(), Hogs, Podz, occasionally Garland and Brock. The only top 6 players in that bunch are Garland and Brock, who was struggling this year. He has had to play alongside less than 2nd line skilled players since he joined the team. Hopefully it will finally happen this season.
  15. I don't know why he's so put out. Slafkovsky was considered the #1 pick by an awful lot of people and NJ had the luxury of using their pick for a team need. Sure, the Coyotes went out on a limb, but hey...who you want to play for, the Coyotes with their tiny arena and 500 fans; or the Kraken that have a real fan base and a great arena? Neither is probably what you're thinking, but one of them were bound to pick him anyways.
  16. It wasn't until JT joined the Canucks that he became a 1st line player. Before that he was a 2nd liner; a 3rd liner with TB. His numbers were similar to Bo's, but he played more games in each season (Covid didn't exist then). It makes a huge difference when a player gets to play alongside an elite linemate with 1st line minutes. The other factor is that JT was a good enough player that he could adapt his game to being a #1C playing 1st line minutes. So basically, Miller joined the Canucks at the same age that Bo is now and that is when his career took off. Bo has rarely had linemates with 1st line skills; often times not even top 6 skills. You give him better players on his line, his points will go up. It's a no-brainer. Bo is certainly in the top 10 of 2nd line Cs, but he would be much better with skilled linemates. Where on earth did you get the idea that a NHL captain gets $1m or $2m over his value? Sounds kind of far-fetched to me.
  17. I'm not disappointed because I didn't expect a huge outcome from the draft. After the 1st round, the projection for pics becoming consistent NHL players drops rapidly. As far as the other pics, I liked the goalie, the Russian D and re-Pete (sorry, I can't remember who to credit that to, but I love it). I was hoping that the Nucks might take the risk to pick Miro (my guess he becomes one of the top players in the draft), but I do think Lekkerimäki will become a top 6 FW on our team some day. As far as Miller not being moved, I wasn't hung up on it happening during the draft anyway. As others have mentioned, the opportunity for a trade will increase after UFA has passed and the top UFAs have been signed.
  18. Absolutely! Nurse is seriously overpaid, but that contract probably justifies DeAngelo's asking for a huge payday; maybe in the +$10m range. If that's the case, I can see why Carolina would let him go.
  19. Please tell me this pick was the goalie Clarke wanted.
  20. Hurricanes pretty much gave DeAngelo away. Either he was asking for a massive contract that they could not justify signing, or they didn't want the player on their team; which would be odd considering he's the best dman they have. My sense is that DeAngelo is asking for a ridiculously huge contract. After all, Nurse got $9.25m, so you can only imagine what DeAngelo thinks he can get It will be interesting to see the contract the flyers sign him to. If they can't sign him, they only lose the 4th rounder.
  21. Way more skill, but issues with skating. Definitely a much better player than Brendan though.
  22. Geekie has a lot of skill, but his skating is a concern. His brother had skating issues as well, but has managed to get it to an average NHL level. It will be a little more difficult for Conor, as he will likely be playing against top 6 players when he reaches the NHL.
