  1. Wow. Hawks giving up on a 3oa pick, who is just 21yrs old. Maybe they know something no other team is privy to. Wonder if his injury last year is of the lingering kind.
  2. I sure wish the Nucks could have picked up another 1st. Miroshnichenko will fall to mid 20's in the 1st (or lower) due to Hodkins cancer (same as what Mario had years ago). Highly treatable with good prognosis, but he will more than likely miss his next season of development. Might see a bit too risky for our team to snag him. AZ will likely pick him up with their 2nd or 3rd first rounder.
  3. If the management want to trade him for decent value, they should let JT's agent talk to the team with the best potential return. If they have assurance that he will re-sign at an affordable contract, they will more likely make a good offer.
  4. Well, they had their chance in the Joulevi/Virtanen drafts for sure. Trading so many 1st round pick has been a problem as well. Luc Bourdon was the only RD they acquired in the top 10. I see there's a loy of 'coulda had Mayfield instead of Jensen' situations.
  5. You do have a point there, Strawbone. If he isn't traded and then signed, the Miller haters will be relentless. If he's traded for a less than expected return, the JR/Alvin hate will be relentless. It will be tough slogging through the various threads around here for a long time.
  6. Seems to me that the 'young RD that will potentially become Hughes' partner is a scarce commodity in the NHL. Maybe give up that dream and hope the return for Miller includes a young player with high-end potential. It might be easier to utilize a highly skilled young player in a trade for the appropriate RD. M. Roy would be an ideal player to play alongside Hughes until a younger RD can be acquired/developed. The Kings are so loaded with RDs, they just might move Roy for the right player.
  7. You said, 'Hot take, Miller had a career year and was only elevated to ppg or better after playing with Hughes and Pettersson, he's propped up by the young core and they will surpass him sooner than later. They're our most talented players, not him.' That sounds to me that you don't think Miller could be a ppg player without being propped up by H & P. That indicates to me that you don't see Miller as being all that much of a player. These days there are a lot of players in their 30's that are continuing to play well. JT hasn't been worn down by injuries over the years (12 games in 8 seasons) and his game isn't a bruising style.
  8. You don't appear to have much appreciation for Miller's game is all. So you would likely expect a lower trade return.
  9. Well, if you really believe that, then I guess you and Stawns will be delirious with the Lundquist trade.
  10. If it's true that JT is amenable to a 6yr contract, that makes him very attractive for a trade (I still think the $ will be too much for the Canucks; but a contending team would grab him without blinking for that term). I don't think his game will erode over the 6 years. His injury track record is excellent; 12 games missed over 8 seasons and none of them serious. If the Canucks were close to being a contender, they would jump at signing him for 6yrs.
  11. Show me the money!!!!!! Wonder how Dallas fans are feeling about losing him for nothing in return.
  12. Especially if he can improve his skating and get his game up to par
  13. Americans have grown up with the belief that they are the greatest country that has ever existed. The majority will always believe that. Things were pretty bad in the Nixon years, but it was just the draft dodgers that left the country and most of them returned when they were given the chance.
  14. And yet Garland was 5th in points on the team while playing very little time on the 2nd PP. All his goals were scored 5-on-5; compared to Brock, that stat looks very solid. He also has the best -/+ stat on the team. Overall, I think Garland has more hockey skills than Brock, but the sniper is what the team prefers. Seeing as the management signed Brock, I do think that Conor will be traded. I suspect there will be a lot of interest in him and there will be a good return for him.
  15. These teams are most mentioned in Miller trade rumours NYR, Phil, Pitts, Wash, Boston The only team that has a better C than Miller is Pits. Sid likely has an injury during the season though. More than likely, JT jumps into the #1C spot and has the best FWs on his line. Maybe he doesn't become the leader he is on the Canucks, but that's an unknown right now. I think there are a lot of fans in Vancouver that want to see Miller signed (for a reasonable contract). He brings a lot to our team and will not soon be replaced by 2 or 3 prospects, young players and or pics.
  16. I don't see a team paying Miller ++$ to play a smaller role. He will play either C or LW along the top line of any team. There’s no reason to think that his stats would drop by 25-40pts. Also, peeps are neglecting the fact that JT has been the C on Petersson's line. Unless Pete has developed remarkably in that role, you can't just replace JT by adding a winger to the line. Fans are underestimating the various tangibles/intangibles (besides offence) that he brings to the team. He will be missed by the players, coaches and fans.
  17. Good for Curtis! That's a huge jump from AHL to NHL team goalie coach. I would think he grew up cheering for the Leafs too. I wonder if this has anything to do with the DiPi rumour.
