  1. Marchment goes from being barely a 4th liner to 1st liner in one season. Like Copp, he will want a huge pay raise for those 54 games last year. Sounds like a high risk/high reward (maybe) situation.
  2. I'd rather the AZ return and keep Garland. Kakko, Schneider +Chytil or Kravtsof That late 1st + 2nd rounders could end up bottom 6 FW or 3rd pairing D (or even not making the NHL). Canucks end up with a certain 1st pairing left shot dman, which the team already has at least 1 and then there's OEL and who knows how Ratthbone will do in the coming years. The draft pics are any good will also be years away from having any impact on the team.
  3. I think the team management are taking their time to do their 'due diligence' with the Miller situation. They know that there are a lot of fans that will be unhappy if Miller is traded. They would certainly want to at least 'appear' that they did their best to sign him, but just couldn't manage the required $/term. On the other hand, there will be fans that won't think the trade return for Miller is enough and that will cause a great deal of whining.
  4. With your logic, I'd say he's closer to being 24 than 26.
  5. Well, we haven't had a 1st in a while, so at least we have one for this year
  6. Seems like a solid trade to me. Necas fills a gap on the Nucks and is just 23yrs. Already showing offensive upside. I don't know that Bear will ever be a partner for Hughes, but maybe OEL and certainly a solid partner for Rathbone. We are yet to see what kind of player Hogs will be. Obviously offensive upside, but unsure of his defensive capabilities. He's still very young. Dermott is a solid 3rd pairing defensive dman with little offensive. Similar guy to Bear, but bigger frame. Necas wins this trade for me.
  7. Of course. Even if the Canucks were last place in the league, they would get #3 at best.
  8. Yak was a bust, but he's calling Nuge and Hall scraps, which is ridiculous. Not to mention their former #6, #7 + #10 pics to help out. How many teams get to walk away with 6 top 4 picks in 6 years? Or should I say ten top 10 in 9yrs?
  9. I agree about losing a 2nd round pick. My problem with pics and prospects (RDs) is that they will take years to play on the 1st pairing (if ever). Even Schneider is a long ways from being Hughes' partner. I would love it if the Canucks could get this done...Garland for Matt Roy straight up. That way, Quinn gets a partner right away, which affords the management time to acquire and develop a young RD (or 2) that could replace Roy in a few years.
  10. I believe that would be 'a bum and a piece of trash who could be replaced by a beer league player'. But hey...6 gms have signed Hunt in the past 9 years, but Heff knows better than any of those 'bums'.
  11. Not saying he should be re-signed, but calling a dman that scored 17pts in 50 games 'useless trash' and a 'bum' 'that brings nothing of value' is unwarranted. He did his job as well as expected.
  12. Another fan whipping boy. He performed above his pay scale 17pts in 50games is not bad at all. If those (potential NHL) stats could be found in a Euro leagues or beer league, the player would already be in the NHL.
  13. Larsson wanted to go to Seattle; he signed a NTC with them. Sure would have been a great fit on our team though. Myers for Geekie C-r
  14. Absolutely. Best case scenario is if Koskenvuo is ready to back up (hopefully) Demko in 6yrs. To have another quality tender coming along (a couple of years younger) would be good team management.
  15. Maybe the Cnds high 2nd from the Coilers? Dipi's development should stand for something. Afterall, it takes years to develop a goalie. Maybe they are packaging Dipi + Pearson for a player. I'd add Hogs as well, if it meant acquiring Barron, but I don't think Mon would let him go.
  16. I have trouble discerning what Hansen said and what you may have added here. Could you clarify? Thx
  17. Good to hear. Wouldn't want to see him on our team. Don't like his attitude; and I sure don't like his lack of hockey sense. Hope Ott don't give up too much for him.
  18. From what I've read about Koskenvuo, he has the skills and size to become a very good goalie. Just needs the development time(19yrs). He will play for Harvard this season and will probably go for the 4yrs and then play for Abby. Hand-picked by Ian Clarke, so I think the kid has a great chance. Clarke was working with him via video last season. Theissen is farther along (22yrs) but he doesn't appear to be progressing well after his 2nd college season. I see that he's backup to an undrafted player that is a year younger
  19. He's the perfect extra for injuries. I see him as the 4th RD and the 5th or 6th RW. He'll get lots of ice time during the season.
