[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
higgyfan replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Zacha hasn't played C for some time. Meyers for Geekie Garland for Roy UFA Lybushkin or Miller UFA Lazar Pettersson - Miller - Boeser Kuzmenko - Horvat - Podkolzin Dickinson - Geekie - Hoglander Highmore - Lammikko - Lazar Lockwood Hughes - Roy OEL - Schenn Rathbone - Lybushkin Demmers - Burroughs LTIR Ferland + Poolman -
They had enough on their plate in terms of signing players. Besides, they have just as much cannabis stench as what Vancouver has Try doesn't like that.

I'd rather JT any day over Kadri. Way too wrapped up with his ego and doing stupid. -

That $3.2x2yrs for Kassian is brutal. Foegels is similarly bad. Can't see them unloading those two without adding a sweetner or retaining salary. Dickinson had his worst season in 4 years, so chances are he will improve in the upcoming season. Still, I'd take him over the two in Edm. -

Haven't heard anything indicating a rebuild coming from the team management so far. -

Replacing 63 goals and someone to take faceoffs for Pete is next to impossible. Of course, they would have a bad season. Depending on what the return is (young players/prospects/pics, rather than established players), trading Bo and JT would pretty much be the beginning of a rebuild. -
I don't think any line on the Canucks would be improved by sticking Gaudette on it. He doesn't score at a top 6 level and he doesn't play defence at a bottom 6 level. Maybe the Coyotes pick him up for minimum contract. They just need bodies; they don't care about winning. Gaud would do very well in Europe. He'd score a lot of goals and the fans would love him.

OEL has another 5yrs on his contract and he very well could be a 2nd pairing dman right until the end. It really depends how things go; both for OEL and Rathbone. If Jack starts to pick up his game (as I suspect he will) how long will he wait to move up into the 2nd pairing role and how long will the Canucks fork out more salary than a 3rd pairing dman would ever get. That could very well be the 2nd road block. The Canucks could decide to trade him at some point. Anything can happen in 3 or 4 years in the hockey world.

[Signing] Canucks re-sign Brock Boeser
higgyfan replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Burkie was an awesome GM. Gillis did a good job bringing in some great support for those guys. But it was Burkie's team. -

Good grief, Sunshine. You keep repeating your comments over and over. Why don't you save your breath and wait to see what the team looks like in the fall? Go out and enjoy the summer and leave it to the pros to do what needs to be done for our team. -
That's all very nice, but the cap dumps (and there are several) have to go with a 'sweetener' which usually means young player, prospect or pic. JR also says he wants to load up on those. Meyers can be traded to Kracken or Coyotes (they are desperate for a middle pairing RD), but I don't see the others going without the bonus add ons.

And most of them, at least...have won a SC.

[Rumour] Poolparty wants out again
higgyfan replied to The Arrogant Worms's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Would be a first for our Canucks -
It seems odd that the military picked up a player who is 25 yrs old. I wonder if he has some kind of previous commitment to the army. If it's due to his recent signing; well there are others in the same position (Kuzemenko). We'll see if this is a specific situation, or if it will escalate over the off season in the NHL.

Probably don't want the long term that will be attached to JT. They have some up-and-coming LW + C talent coming up the ranks. Sheifele might be a good option for short term 2C. The trade won't be as much as Miller either. They should have picked up Miller last year. I think they would have made it to the SC final. Then make a big run for next year's final.

[Report] Jets hire Rick Bowness as head coach
higgyfan replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Tough job ahead for Rick. Jets have several unhappy players and are in a tough division. Apparently the Rangers are looking at trading for Sheifele https://www.nhltraderumor.com/rangers-eyeing-a-mark-scheifele-trade-this-offseason/ -
Gaudette won’t be re-signed by the Senators
higgyfan replied to Me_'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We've seen this time and again. Dahlen, Shirikov, Goldobin, Boucher and a growing list around the league. Can score some goals, but are horrible defensively. If a young player wants to stay in the NHL, he better learn how to play defense.
