  1. Kind of a chancy top 6 though. Will Podz, Kuze and Mik all be able to produce top 6 #s? The other concern would be having JT, Kuze and Bo becoming UFAs at the end of this season, followed by Podz and Pete the next season.
  2. Be be thankful that they also passed on Tketchup, Sergachev and MacAvoy
  3. You could be right about Kakko. I've heard that he's struggled with some timely injuries as well. Still...a 21yr old 2oa is an enticing deal. Having too many high end rfas is easy to fix. Just trade one of them to unload a cap dump, acquire pic/prospect and/or add some toughness to the team.
  4. I'd rather Kravtsov than the 2nd. I think the Rangers might do that. I've read that he can play all FW positions, which could come in handy. I like that he can play the defensive side of the game. "A big, skilled winger that can play up and down the lineup and provide scoring in a number of roles. He brings grit and physical size, but could be more assertive in throwing his weight around more. Displays excellent speed on the rush and in zone entry, but could backcheck quicker. Plays well in his own end and takes away lanes. Very good hands and awareness. Kravtsov has the potential to develop into a staple top six forward that can produce at the next level. [EP]" Kakko (21yrs) + Schneider (19yrs) + Kravtsov (23yrs) would be a great infusion of youth on our team. I am a huge fan of JT, but this trade would sit very right for me. I'd obligated to cheer for the Rangers in the playoffs next year. JT must win a SC.
  5. I don't know why peeps are saying that. He didn't ask to be traded to the Jets; it was a case of Laine wanting out of Winnipeg and the Jackets wanting to make the trade. No competitive hockey player would want to land up in the Peg for long term. PLD has told them he won't be signing an RFA contract with term. After all, he's a rising star at 24 yrs old. Why wouldn't he want to play on a team that is heading in the right direction towards being a contender. That's not the Jets. They are a mess.
  6. The Kings have multiple LWs now and all their C are L shot as well. With the departure of Brown, they are really thin at RW. Not seeing the need for Fiala on their roster. Kaliyev is their top RW now
  7. When does he become a UFA, Hairy?
  8. That's the right way to go for sure. It would be stupid to let him walk at this point. Did JR indicate his reasoning as to why it is risky to trade a young goal scorer (compared to any other young player)?
  9. Still a bad comparison. Dries has 59 NHL games and 9pts. I have concerns about Brock as well, but there more about his injury issues. I think he will work very hard during the offseason and come to camp ready to play. If he doesn't prove himself this season, he probably never will.
  10. What? Sheldon Remple has played 11 NHL games so far and hasn't scored a single point. Brock has never played 82 games, so it is unknown what he might have scored. Maybe someday we'll see what he can do in an 82 season.
  11. That seems about right. The problem with Brock is that he is a bit injury prone. It may be a rare thing for him to play an entire season, which will affect his point totals.
  12. Middlestadt (who is useless) + #9th overall for a bona fide tweener 1st/2nd fully developed C is underpayment for Bo. If the Sabres want Bo, they can skip Midds and add Alex Tuch to the 9th overall. Alf...you of all people bringing up Middlestadt in a trade. Shame on you!
  13. I like both these trades, Dude. Our team ends up with two promising RD prospects, a great middle 6C-r and another 1st round pick in '23. I don't have much hope in Andersson making the NHL, but the trade for Grans is still a good one. Well done!
  14. We have all lived the disappointment of being a Canuck fan. Another underlying disappointment is the lack of a franchise #1 pick in the draft. Can you imagine having Ekblad or Matthews instead of Joulevi and Virtanen? That's a lot of bad luck for our team. You look at Colorado with a 1st, 2nd and two 4ths is not the only story. They managed to get an elite player who dropped to them at #4 (Makar) and then again when they picked up Byron at #4. That's a lot of good luck for the Avs. Being an American team is definitely an advantage in acquiring UFAs and signing players to reasonable contracts. You have to give the Avs credit though. They have a tremendous management team that has great scouting of Jr talent, as well as professional talent; along with a GM that makes great trades and balances his cap space perfectly. They deserve their success.
  15. I believe it's a tourney within Russia. Why shouldn't he get out there and play some hockey and entertain the Russian people during this horrible time? Even if it were a larger tourney including other nations (which is not likely), I wouldn't judge him if he played. We have no idea what's going on in that country. It is quite possible that refusing to join a national Russian team would be considered as an active protest against (specifically) Putin and would have serious consequences.
  16. Kinda makes ya feel kind of sick, doesn't it. I could have added Washington with generational Ovi and Backstrum(4oa). It ain't easy being a Canuck fan
  17. Would have taken the NJ one except for the lotto protected 1st. Ended up taking Boston's offer. Carlo would be awesome alongside Quinn or OEL and Lysell would become a star alongside Pete.
  18. Via trade for promising prospect; such as Miller for Othmann(+) or Brandt(+). It's no more risky than a top 5 draft pick; in fact, I think the odds are better because the prospects show how they have improved since since the draft.
  19. The first one I take in a heartbeat. The second one; not so much. Mayfield I like a lot, but will be 30yrs old next season and I'm not certain that Wilde even makes the NHL at this point. Pls post a link of these rumours if you can. Thx
  20. I think the only way that can be done is a one - for one trade ie Miller for Brandt. I can't see a rebuilding team that has a top 5 pick wanting to move it.
  21. If the management don't already know whether those 3 players will be elite enough to win a SC, they sure are running out of time. For a team that never falls to a pick less than top 5, the team has done well by those 3. But it is true, most teams that win the C have an elite core of top 3 picks. Offhand, I can only think of the Blues that have broken that pattern.
  22. I think other gms are thinking the same. He is a very good player in many ways, so he definitely adds a lot of value to any team, especially a contender. Most of those teams will only want him for this season; unless they have insurance that he will sign a reasonable contract in the off season. I suspect that the Canucks will sign him if it looks like he will go for a contract that they can afford. $7.5m x 7yrs. If he is in that range (or a bit higher-certainly not $9m), a team on an upward trend towards contending might want to re-sign him. Is there anyone that thinks JT will get $9m x 7 yrs? Seems ridiculous to me.
  23. There's that...but I also get the vibe that if Miller's return isn't outstanding, there will be some unbearable whining to read through.
