Sadly, Bries has shown very little that implies NHL ready defender. He'll be 25yrs in July, which is getting old for a rookie prospect. His AHL record hasn't been all that inspiring as well. Really hasn't played much hockey over the past few seasons.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko
higgyfan replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
It remains to be seen, Alf. I doubt Kane re-signs with the Oilers, but I don't see Kuzmenko jumping into the lineup and playing better than Evandar. I doubt he is gifted Hyman's spot with Drysaddle either. It's not very common for a 26yr old KHL player to jump into the NHL and become a star. His age and statistics are very similar to this guy... https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=133881 -
Very sad and pathetic at the same time. When he started his film career, it didn't take long for him to climb to the cream of the crop. He was becoming one of the better actors of his generation. How far he has slid downhill in the past few years. He'll have to work his arse off if he wants to turn this sinking ship around. Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr, who had horrific addiction issues, managed to straighten himself out and has since become one of the best actors of his generation. One watch of his portrayal of Charlie Chaplin and I knew he was going to have a great career.

I think the LTIR is included in the contract in case a player can no longer play due to injuries cause by playing hockey. It will continue for the length of his contract. He has lost his desire to play due to the serious injury he would risk getting if he continued to play hockey.

Feel bad for Ferland. Such passion for the game to be shut out the way he has. The reality is that even if he passes the medical expectations, he has only played 14 games since the 2018-19 season. He's been out for 3yrs, so it would be unlikely that he could still play at the NHL level.

That's one big noggin

Millers Value (Discussion/Proposals)
higgyfan replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
If anything, this thread is showing that fans are divided in their expectations of a Miller trade. Ranging from very sparse to extreme returns is what I see. Someone is bound to end up with the correct combo, but it could take most of the summer to see how this ends up -
Don't mind the cap hit, hate the term.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
higgyfan replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Don't know what you mean about being 'smug'. You said that Bo would be 30yrs by the time the Canucks would have a team that could actually beat any of the 3 top teams in the West. Then it would take time to meet the next level in the east. Your projection is 4 yrs minimum and now you are talking about most of the other teams in the west are ahead of the Canucks in the building team race. That seems like a long way from 2025. -

So what do you think? The Canucks might make it to a conference final in 2030? SC final in 2032? Might be easier to sell the team to Houston. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Agreed. Boston seems like the perfect fit for JT and he wouldn't be a rental. Miller for DeBrusk + Frederik + Lysell. With assets like: Debrusk, Garland/Boeser, Hogs, Lysell and Rathbone I don't see a problem finding top pairing you RD. Already, I can see Garland for Matt Roy. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Lots of teams have done well in the regular season and then drop off in the playoffs. Maybe someone touched the President's Cup Have a look at their individual playoff records. The only one that played really well was Verhaeghe. Just not good enough coming from the star players. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Maybe not. Unfortunately for the Panthers, it is unlikely they'll ever get close to the SC with the current team, so they might as well start blowing it up. They have some pieces that would get some decent returns for their rebuild. -
[Discussion] KADRI KANE TYPE OF PLAYERS...
higgyfan replied to hockeygod77's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
He certainly has a long track record of unsavoury behaviours and activities (accusations), but it appears he has never been convicted in any of the charges to date. Still, it might be wise for a team to stay away from a long term contract, which he is likely looking for. -

Absolutely. How 'bout Bennett for Matt Roy? They would like his physical game. -
[Discussion] KADRI KANE TYPE OF PLAYERS...
higgyfan replied to hockeygod77's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I don't compare Kane to Kadri. He has off ice issues, but on ice he is valuable power forward that has great offensive skills. The 'stories' behind his off ice issues often seem enhanced or contrived; so far I don't think there's been any arrests or conviction. There may be something around the 'locker room cancer' but that's pretty hard to determine as well. I don't think Kane would be stupid enough to play in Vancouver. The judging eyes would have him under the microscope and it would just turn into an unhealthy scenario. Kadri is another story. He is a very dirty player and will do anything to reach his goal(s). His intent is to distract or contain, but sometimes it seems he crosses the line and the intention changes to hurt his opponent. Anyways, he will demand a huge contract and teams will be lining up to get him. I prefer a solid, blended group of players that are focussed, passionate and disciplined, with everyone playing their best in the role/assignment they have been given. -
