This is why the Canucks needed to bring Bruce back as coach. I think he should be here for a couple of years. He communicates so well with the young players and knows when to push and when to back off. The team will bringing in younger players for the next few years, so it will be great to have a head coach like Boudreau helping them along. He's a bit of a 'teaching coach', which is perfect for a young team.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
higgyfan replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
When it comes to trading Miller, the management should acquire the very best player(s) they are offered. It doesn't matter if they get an RD return, if the return includes a top-notch prospect. The team can find an acceptable RD in other ways (UFA, draft or trade Garland for Matt Roy). The window hasn't opened for the Canucks as contenders, so they can wait for the (Miller trade) prospect to develop to NHL readiness and then trade him for a similar quality RD or a top draft pick. For instance, if they pick up Lysell from Boston; let him develop for 2-3 years; then trade Lysell + ? for the best young RD they can find. -

Millers Value (Discussion/Proposals)
higgyfan replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think Debrusk and Garland have similar value and cap. I don't think Garland alone gets Crouse. Besides, the Coyotes probably don't want to do a trade back with Nucks. Much rather acquire Roy from LA. He would be great alongside Hughes. Straight up for Garland. -

If Bergeron retires, I can see Boston making a run for Miller. JT is a Boston kind of player. Miller for Debrusk, Frederic + Lysell + 2nd I don't think the Bruins will trade Carlo, no matter what. That's ok 'cause...Garland for Matt Roy straight up (Kings) Trade: Debrusk + 2nd for Lawson Crouse(AZ) *Vancouver ends up with Crouse, Frederic and Lysell for Miller. Myers for Geekie (Kraken) Copp (UFA) Pete Brock Crouse Bo Hogs Pears Geekie Pods Frederic Lammy Locks Dixie Hughes Roy OEL C. Miller or Lubushkin (UFA) Demer Schenn Rath Poolman -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Besides, Miller plays with way too much passion for that bunch. -
You may be right. He just suffered his 2nd concussion this year, in a recent playoff game. Apparently the Kings management are very concerned.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
higgyfan replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I don't think there is a trade with the RAgs. They blew their wad on Zib, so Miller is just the one that got away for them. If there was a trade, I would not want Chytil, Lundkvist or the 26th overall. It has to include Othmann and or Kravtsov. -
I have 2 issues with this trade (and I may be way off base). I recall a lot of talk about Kaliyev not wanting to bother with the defensive end of the game. In fact, that was why he dropped in the draft. I can's say I have kept up with his development, but it may still be an issue. I really like Grans, but again, he does have some defensive issues. He is considered a high risk; high reward kind of prospect. He may end up as a top pairing offensive dman, but if he can't play defense, his value drops. Maybe the Nucks hit it out of the park with this trade or maybe not. Miller to LA for Turcotte, Roy + Grundstrom. Turcotte is very good at all aspects of the game; is a great skater and has a very high IQ. He can play every aspect of the game; both offensive and defensive. Roy is a heavy defensive dman that has some offensive upside. Grundstrom plays an aggressive game, is a good skater and is very good on the PK. Of the 3, Turcotte will be a star player (who plays a well-rounded game), but the other 2 will be very steady and hardworking players and very good at the role they are assigned. I think all 3 of these players would make a huge difference for our team for many years.

Some of the most Christian-like people I've known, were never Christians.

If Brock continues to play the way he has this past season, the Nucks will never have an A1 PP. He's supposed to be the #1 sniper on the team. Thankfully they still have Pete, but with the possible loss of Miller, the PP ain't looking too good.

Aidan has more developing to do before he is a sure thing in the NHL. In particular, his skating isn't there yet. I think he made the right choice to stay at NE as he will have +++ time to work on his weaknesses than he would in a pro league. At this point, nobody knows what his potential in the NHL will be. For comparison, Adam Gaudette had 21 more points in his third season at NE. I really doubt another NHL team will be beating down his door to sign him.

If they sign Brock to $6.5mx3 and he has another year like last season, he will be very difficult to trade (and not worth that much). Brock has become a power play specialist, while Garland has the best 5 on 5 record on the team. He is also a terrific play maker, which there are too few on the Canucks. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/analytics-garland-canucks-5-on-5-production#:~:text= Garland is the Canucks best forward at,Chiasson (0.75) 14 Jason Dickinson (0.55) More Judging by points per 60 minutes at 5-on-5, the Canucks really only have two first-line forwards on the team — Garland and Miller. [Proposal] Ugh... seriously? Podkolzin is traded??
higgyfan replied to HKSR's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I would take Clarke over any of the RDs that have been in Miller proposals. -
If there were a chance for the Nucks to pick up Clarke, I'd want the management to do everything possible to make that trade happen. Unfortunately, Brandt looks like he'll be a #1 RD and will be ready for the NHL within the next couple of years so I don't think LA would trade him. With Poughty on board for 5yrs, Sean Durzi, Matt Roy and a host of RD prospects, they really could trade one of the other RDs and hardly feel it. Even if our team could acquire Clarke, I think it would be straight up for Miller. At the moment, Byfield is their guy and Vilardi is trending towards the bust area. Still, he's a big physical guy and they have a group of smaller C's in their prospect pool. Of the remaining Cs, I really like Trucotte; although he is 5'11" he is pushing 200lbs and he oozes skill. IQ, elite skating, play making C, great passer and hard to knock off the puck. If they take one of the other RD (personally like Matt Roy; he would be a perfect partner for Quinn), but they have lots of other younger players that might be available; most of them being offensive dmen. JT Miller for Roy, Turcotte and Grundstrom. Roy gives the Canucks time to develop a prospect they pick up in the draft or in another trade. LA also need a top 6 RW. What a scouting department the LA Kings have put together. Hats off to them.

It doesn't sound like the Nucks will let him walk (even if they just sign him for 1yr to see how he does). At this point, I really can't see a team paying Brock $8m x whatever. He just not worth that amount.
