  1. If that was my daughter, I'd be the happiest Nuck fan in BC! Not really. Kind of stupid wasting his youth on a woman he doesn't like very much. Good times!
  2. 4-0 Rags Welcome to the Stanley Cup Playoffs kiddies. Go practice some more...come back in a couple of years.
  3. The fact that Brock's emotionally fragile right now is a no-brainer, but it will pass in time. It's not quite a year since Duke passed, so he is still dealing with his grief. Brock was very close to his dad and the loss has taken it's tole on him. It wouldn't surprise me that the thought of being traded evokes even more loss; teammates, friendships, sense of belonging, etc. All the memories he has of being a Canuck. It will be good for him to go home and hang with his friends and family again. It wouldn't surprise me if he comes back with less sadness and a lot more excitement for the game of hockey.
  4. I can't recall ever hearing of another team coming to camp early, in any sport...have you? Kind of sets a precedent that the players union might have issue with.
  5. I seem to recall a few years ago, that teams were not supposed to contact players (regarding their training), during the offseason. Pressuring players to return before training camp is kind of like your boss asking you to return to work before your vacation is finished (with no increase in pay, of course).
  6. Exactly. As do Malkin and Letang, who are a good value for $6.1M Sid doesn't owe the team anything, in fact it's the other way around. He's been playing for a below value contract for years. I still think he will continue on as Captain of the Pens with a shorter term (NMC) for 2-3yrs.
  7. Sid's contract is $8.7m for 2 more years. He's one of the most prominent players in the history of the NHL. A true generational player who is the face of the Penguins. I think Sid will be in charge of where he plays hockey in the future, but I think he will continue to play for the Penguins until he retires.
  8. At face value, those stats are not good for Lekker. This season was dismal for him, what with mono to start and then an injury later on. Good to see has returned to form for the playoffs. I find the SweHL (top league) a more interesting stat. Lekker has the better stats and his +/- is far better than Ohgren and Oslund's pro #s are non-existant. I think Lekker's performance in the pro league is what the Canucks based their choice on.
  9. It's up to the management to protect the players in these situations. It was horrible to watch the media drilling Peterson; absolutely disgusting. They need to take steps to ensure that this sort of questioning can never happen again.
  10. Now that you mention it...I was thinking that if the Nucks don't like what's available at 11, they could trade down to the Kraken ( 20oa) for a 2nd (probably +50oa), as they won't get by the Avs). Van pick Calem Ritchie(C-r) at 20th + Bonk (RD) or Strabak (RD). I don't know if Nucks have to add a sweetener for the Kraken to accept this trade.
  11. Wouldn't be surprised is the Canucks are facing a lawsuit over this situation.
  12. I've read that, for a bonsai, he doesn't skate well.
  13. Love this guy. He knows how long the fans have been waiting for a SC and wants to fix it.
  14. I don't care for it either, but I don't think it's due toTocc being 'mean spirited'. I see Tocc as being 'old school'. He was a 6th round draft pick and worked his way into becoming a tough as nails power forward that could score. Problem is, I don't think that style works too well with a different generation of players. Kuze is an important player on our team, so I would think that if it becomes a problem, PA would step in to sort it out.
  15. Actually, I think Hughes would embrace the role. According to Tocc, Quinn is the most competitive player on the team. I get the vibe from Pete that he'd rather focus on his game and he's more reserved guy who doesn't really want the media engagement. Whereas Quinn, is very direct and more outgoing. He seems quite talkative with the press. Miller, Pete and Demko are great leaders as well and there will be others as the team continues to retool. I think the leadership group on the team is solid
  16. Out of pity, he gave it to the Canucks to put in their locker room.
  17. 2 Stanley Cup rings. Atta boy Jonathan. Enjoy the next stage in your life.
  18. The Bruins is a team that players are willing to take a pay cut to be signed. They often follow up with career stats. Also...they have such a good scouting dept that they don't have to bother about top picks. Just an incredibly well put together team by an incredibly well put together management department. Every year peeps say that the Bruins will have to rebuild, but it never seems to happen.
  19. Keeping in mind that the OEL savings is $8.83 in the 1st year, $5.58 in the 2nd, then drops to 6yrs at $2.8x2yr and $2.4x46yr (payments complete in 2031). Whatever contract(s) are signed have to be sustained beyond the 1st 2 years. Also, it may be difficult finding a trade for Boeser, Beau, Garland or Myers without retention or cap return. Myers is probably the easiest, as he is UFA next season, but his $ should be earmarked for Hronik's raise. I'm not saying this can't happen, but it's a difficult plan to complete successfully. UFA is an expensive way to replace the players that are traded. Garland, Beau (if retained or cap returned) OEL ($ for 2yrs then a huge drop) and Myers $ should be switched over to Hornek contract. I can't see how they can keep Boeser with his contract. Not sure where Poolman and Pears fit in all of this. Next season Miller $8 kicks in, the following it's Pete + Hronik and then next is Kuze. There are also the various young rfa's looking for new contracts. I suppose it can be done, but it will take some kind of wizardry to do it. Sure hurts my brain even thinking about it.
  20. I'll bet he already does; probably the glorious Oilers or the laughable Leafs. Both teams that have had remarkable wins in the draft, but still have managed to sputter in their team development and SC dreams for countless years.
  21. I doubt the Lightning win the SC, but they sure won't lose in the 1st round to the Leafs. They are still as brutal tough team with a lot of skill.
  22. Yes and deservedly so. It was the same for the Oilers, years ago. Hopefully this leaky boat will be fixed and headed off into a more satisfying direction in the upcoming years.
  23. I think he goes at the TDL. Hopefully the Canucks will bring a dman that can handle the battle in front of the net by then. The d is rather small on our team.
