  1. I want see some goals this weekend against SJ....hopefully off a set piece for once!
  2. What's worse is that the system is fairly gutted. In the top 100 prospects they have 3 and Pompey barely counts as prospect anymore since he is with the big club.
  3. With the delicate arms that young pitchers seem to have, I wouldn't bring him back this season at all. I dunno who the Jays pitching coaches are at all the levels but they appear to be arm shredders. While I don't believe in pitch counts and overuse, there is something wrong when all your promising young arms are broken down by the time they arrive.
  4. I was thinking of going down for the Sat night game and staying the night but with the exchange rate as it is and my wife's drinking ability at live events (the more expensive the beer the thirstier she seems to be), I don't think it will happen. Instead, we went to the Cs last night. I saw on TSN all over the internet that the Jays were in the market for Mat Latos. Now that would be a good pitcher to get.
  5. Your priorities are not the Canucks' priorities.
  6. You are reaching. Canucks have limited cap space. They need to fit Sven under and still remain flexible. On top of that, if they want to give a young player a taste for 9 games or whatever, his salary counts too. Either Sven signs for cheap, the Canucks move some salary out to give him a better deal or they trade him. There really aren't too many other directions this can go.
  7. When you choose to live in a fire zone, earthquake zone, flood zone, etc. and cry when said disaster wipes out your home, you get zero sympathy from me.
  8. I hate the rain. Let the province burn!
  9. Doesn't matter if he was drafted or not. They traded from their surplus to get a forward. Your other statement is a lie. They have too many prospects so they moved one. You have proof they just gave up on him.
  10. As long as you were not drafted out of the CHL, you just have to be 18. However, most USHL players commit to college programs so it's rare that there are many 18-19 year olds in the AHL. http://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2012/8/1/3213217/bruins-nhl-chl-ahl-agreement-CBA-talks-2012
  11. Who says anything about giving up on them? Trading from your team's strength for another team's strength is just smart trading. It doesn't have anything to do with giving up on them or some lame ego trip. I am not claiming to have any more knowledge of the GM job than anyone else but the trade market is simple. It works on the basis of supply and demand. But really, your opinion on the matter is more based on your dislike of Benning and his perceived inability to make trades that you think he should.
  12. You do know that once you have a surplus of one, you can trade from that surplus to cover a deficit elsewhere. As long as they stockpile quality forwards, they can hit up a team that has too many young defencemen.
  13. Let's hope it translates into a NHL skill set. There are lots of players who look great in Jr/college only to fizzle in the Pros.
  14. My coworker brags about having high standards and he is the most sexless guy I know.
  15. Tim Brown was getting a little too old and his lack of flexibility made him expendable. I am not worried about KR/PRs anyways. Bigelow, Hawkins and Murray-Lawrence should all be just as good and all will add some versatility to the lineup by being able to play other positions.
  16. I caught the tail end of a documentary last night about food waste. It's fascinating yet disheartening how much unexpired and edible food is tossed in the trash when there are people that go hungry and die from lack of food. On top of that, it has far reaching effects on the environment too. All that usable food decomposes in landfills and creates excessive amounts of methane gas which puts a strain on the Earth's atmosphere. Not to mention that landfills are a disgusting by-product of civilization.
  17. Playing sheltered minutes for half a season at the NHL level to get his feet wet and then expanding his role as the NHL season progresses. I want this to be the new model for first rounders as in the salary cap world, you can't afford to wait 2-4 years for a high drafted player to ripen.
  18. Why is it Translink's fault that people like yourself cannot figure more than one way to get to work? Move closer to your job? Can't afford to? Maybe you need to reconsider where you live and work then? Can't afford a car? Find yourself a job that affords you the means to do so. There are plenty of other options out there but it's easier to sit here and blame everyone but yourself. By working, you have a responsibility to arrive on time and if you have to use public transit as your excuse more than once, perhaps you need to look into alternate arrangements. As a former user of transit, I understand the plight of the user. The only bus that goes by my work leaves the skytrain station at inconvenient hours for me but I survived for many years. It meant having to get up 3 hours before my shift to ensure I arrived on time. After putting up with this for far too long, I decided I had enough of it and bought a vehicle. This eats into my disposable income but I made the choice to be on time and that required incurring extra cost; which appears to be a foreign concept to many people.
  19. It's unbelievable that you rely on a service that lately has been quite unreliable. Try being proactive instead of pointing the fingers at someone else. Carpool with coworkers? Drive your car if you have one (assuming you take transit for convenience)?
  20. It amazes me that people do not have a backup plan to get to work if transit is down. Then they have the nerve to blame translink because they have failed to make alternative arrangements on their own.
