  1. He wins some faceoffs and everyone think he has cemented a place in the lineup. While faceoff wins are important, the PP and the PK are actually doing rather well so far and one could argue that those are the times when you need to win faceoffs. Bo will have his day for this team but unless they make some room for him rather quickly, I can't see him sticking.
  2. That was their problem all season, no finish. If they only had Camilo still... All in all, a solid season. Making the playoffs is still a good showing.
  3. The same people bashing Hansen are willing to give a raw rookie with 0 games NHL experience the nod over him. It's just crazy when the fans turn on you.
  4. Predictable. This is a fan base who jeers winning.
  5. They already tried opening the purse strings and it failed. It's not necessarily about spending money, it's spending it wisely. Encarnacion is back so at least that should help plate a few runs. No need to give up on the season yet. 3.5 back of the wild card is not out of it by any means.
  6. Hence the use of the word 'essentially'. I understand what you are getting at but the bottom line is it is just another form of payment; transfer of funds from one to another.
  7. Bitcoin is essentially a credit card without the middle man that you pay to use it. It's an indirect transfer of payment from you to a vendor with one stop in between rather than the direct peer-to-peer transfer that Bitcoin is.
  8. Personally I like the idea of alternate currency but that what it is, just alternate currency; much like a credit card. You still need to earn an income to accrue Bitcoins and that income will have to be taxed so government run services can function. So while it seems like a really great idea to avoid being taxed on your purchases, the tax you are avoiding is used predominantly to fund essential services. Entities like education and health care would have to be funded solely by the users and the costs set by the suppliers.
  9. Whitecap deserved a better fate yesterday. For a team that struggles to score and gets a lead only to have it evaporate on a phantom call in the box is a tough pill to swallow.
  10. The Great Outdoors 6.5/10. Could have been funnier but overall still amusing. John Candy eating the Ol' 96er still makes me laugh.
  11. I like that you added this to the JS thread and did not create a new thread like someone else did....WTG!
  12. So says the guy who took 8 years to finish a 4 year degree and amassed an astoundingly average 2.8 GPA. You should have taken your own advice.
  13. Injuries are just an excuse for poor play. Plenty of players get injured, come back and never miss a beat. It was like they were never gone. Schroeder is a depth forward with little upside. He is going to have a hard achieving Andrew Ebbett status in this league. If qualified, he likely plays in the AHL and has a chance to be the first call up if he plays well there. This is the best case scenario for him.
  14. For a team that is STARVING for secondary scoring and had multiple openings all year in the top 6 due to injury, he didn't bring anything worth while to the team. Speed alone does not make you a good player. His production sucked. He scored 3 goals, 2 in one game. Players who want it, take the chances given to them. JS had as good as chance as he could have had last season and came up empty.
  15. Or they could see him as a waste of time, effort and money to try anything with as he hasn't shown anything much in 5 years. As far as I am concerned, if you have been to 4-5 training camps and have yet to establish yourself as a NHL pro, then you aren't going to. There are hungrier, younger players coming along who want that job just as much as he does. Your shelf life as a prospect is short regardless of your perceived talent.
  16. Totally agree. JS had plenty of chances last season to make an impression and failed.
  17. I wouldn't count on him getting snatched up by another team. Every team has 2-4 Jordan Schroeders (IE. failed prospects) that they are clinging on to in hopes that they eventually find their game. The excuses provided in his favour are old and tired. He has been unlucky no doubt, but for the better part of 3 season in the AHL, he hasn't looked all that impressive and his NHL stints have been worse. He is just a low first rounder who hasn't panned out to much and from what I can see, won't be much better. He's fallen into the square peg round hole category with this organization.
  18. I want a few million dollars but just because I want it doesn't mean I will get it.
  19. Sigh. Too bad for the CFL. Any labour disruption is really going to set them back. Let's hope the pressure from TSN and other sponsors really resonates with the league and they get the players back on the field. C'mon CFL, treat your product better! The players are your product!
  20. If and when rich people/corporations get on board, then I can see the Bitcoin actually being viable. Until then, it will just be another fad. The system requires trust. There are lots of people with lots of money who aren't willing to trust another system to handle their income/savings. People like and trust the banks even if the banks are crooked as a snake. It will take years for Bitcoins to establish legitimacy and acceptance by the masses...by then, the shine may wear off. Just because it's a good idea, does not mean it will be accepted; especially when it is up against the forces it is.
  21. Yep. I can't wait for all the 'well he said he would ask guys to waive so here's my new Edler deal, he has to be gone JB said he would ask!' threads.
  22. He said only if necessary. Necessities to you or I can be much different than someone else.
