  1. The Devils had better be shopping Hall because he'll walk in free agency otherwise.
  2. Absolutely, this is a learning curve year. Just to remind people, the Canucks blew an even bigger lead v St Louis Washington earlier this season. Consistent play, holding on to leads, how to win when they don't have their good stuff and other things are part of a learning process. This is normal. Please, nobody start jumping off any bridges.
  3. If they can sign Markstrom to a good contract with a reasonable term and cap hit, it's only going to make him an attractive trade piece. He'll only be 30 so a term as much as 5 years will be fine. I don't think that Markstrom's contract will affect Bennings decision either on who to keep unless Demko demands too much. The plan has got to be to trade one of the goalies rather than let one go for nothing.
  4. This is a big year for the goaltenders. Marky is showing that his strong play since mid-season last year is for real. Demko has also shown that he is going to be very good as well. Benning is going to have to make a tough decision and he has shown that final decisions don't get done until the last minute. Like he says, this is a good problem for him to have. What are the pressure points to make the decision? Resigning Marky at the end of the season? Demko has a year to go after that at $1.05M, so not really. So 2 years from now he will have to pay Demko as well. That is more likely decision time. Of course there is the expansion draft in 2 years and he's not going to want to lose a quality player for nothing.
  5. He gets painted as a bit of a Canucks suck but I have to give him credit for not piling on for the past 4 years like the rest of the jackals in the Van media. Besides, I don't think his views are off base generally
  6. That's right, Turris' contract is as simple as it gets. No clauses, no bonuses.
  7. Not sure what the Canucks do with Turris. 5 more years at $6M and the 30 year olds production is already tailing off. Is he just a poor fit in Nashville or is it worse? What does he become, the 3C? What of Gaudette or Sutter? Do they really want another white elephant? Fabbro is pretty highly regarded I think. He played college and wore an A with the Canadian Juniors last year. This is his first full year in the NHL. I doubt Nash would be willing to give him up. The right hander would be a nice piece for the Canucks but at what cost?
  8. If they make the playoffs, they won't have a 1st round pick. If they just miss, they're looking at a pick in the 11-15 range.
  9. Horvat makes up for missing that wide open net. He'll feel better now. I do
