[Signing] Canucks sign Kirill Kudryavtsev

I dunno about "huge NHL potential" but 0.75 ppg as a 19 year old D is pretty encouraging Edit: In the OHL -

Having a 7th rounder who has played well enough post draft to sign, is a win. -

Make no mistake, there'll be plenty more development to come. It's a step up from College to the AHL and a further step to the NHL. Some guys make the leap like Stecher and Tanev but they are the exception. Most don't. College players tend to be on the smaller side, the good news is that Livingston is not small but it will be a big adjustment in terms of the speed and size of NHL players. I'm not saying don't go after him. Please do. Just temper expectations -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign Guillaume Brisebois

Apparently, he's the longest serving "Canuck" Boeser also signed in 2015 but Brisebois signed first -

It's all about splitting the cap hit. Not the actual salary -

One of his big criticisms is that he's built like a string bean. Always has bean [s]. I think that he's one of those guys who can't gain weight. -

Joker. That's a better d-corps than they iced against the Leafs on Saturday. Plus, it's a worst case scenario as I said. Allvin is surely going to add to the D-corps Don't you like the NO Myers and NO OEL part? -

How does this look for a worst case scenario? Hughes 7.8 Bear 2.0 Brisebois 0.775 Hronek 4.4 Wolanin 1.2 Burroughs 1.0 That's a cap friendly D-corps (I know that 3 remain to be signed). Does it make it possible to do this?: Trade Myers with 50% retained 3.0 for 1 year Buyout OEL (you know the story there) I don't actually think this will happen but honestly, it's a better group than they've had all year. They'll have to improve it as time goes on but it's a start. In reality, I think that Allvin will do more. -
Hughes is arguably better in terms of generating offense (assists) and Hronek is more of a 2-way D but both are good drivers of offense. On paper it's better to have them on separate pairs. But they still need players to partner with either of them. Can Bear be a partner to Hughes? In a pinch I suppose. One of the benefits of trading for Hronek is obviously, the freedom to move on from Myers but they'll probably have to retain so won't be truly free of the $6M salary until it expires

[PGT] Toronto Maple Leafs at Vancouver Canucks | Mar. 04, 2023

These are the real Leafs. When you turn up the physicality, they wilt like a spent worm. Only the first was physical but that was enough. I love beating the Leaves. Don't care about the tank for 1 game only. Tank is on for next game. -

You've got Boeser nailed except for the shot. He's had his wrist slashed one too many times. Between that and the cracked vertebrae when Clusterflux knocked him into an open door to the bench in his rookie year, he just ain't what he was, nor will he ever be. This doesn't mean he can't be a 30 goal man if he's lucky. -
Do the Canucks understand the value of cap space?
Crabcakes replied to dougieL's topic in Canucks Talk
Cap space allows them to sign good players like Hronek, Miller, Kuzmenko, Bear, Mikheyev etc The thing with the Canucks is that they have holes in the line up and when they get cap space, they use it. This is the position that they're in in the re-tool cycle. You hear Allvin talking about wanting a faster, younger team and we know there are players on the roster who fit that description and players who don't. So we're looking to move on from the likes of Boeser, Myers, OEL, Pearson, Poolman etc The argument against using the cap space right away is that if you have space, then you can take advantage of opportunities as they arise in free agency and when other teams find themselves up against it and having to move cap at low cost. The thing is, when you jettison cap, you jettison inefficient cap if you can and when you sign free agents, you inevitably over pay for good players. We only hear about the sick bargains from Drance Allvin is slowly reshaping the team and if you look at the players that he has added, you can begin to see his vision Hronek, Kuzmenko, Bear, Mikheyev, Beauvillier, Aman, Kravstov, Raty
