  1. Edler is 33, Benn is 32, Tanev 29, Myers 29. Top 4 D take some planning to replace but bottom pair D can be fairly easily foundI think at this point they need to be thinking about a succession plan at least for Edler. Tanev has some hard miles so they might be thinking about a contingency for an early drop off in his play. Bottom pair players are relatively easy to replace Hughes will be the #1 that's pretty clear so they should be thinking about a future #3 or #4. Juolevi and Woo are undetermined but we're hopeful that they may develop into top 4. Tryamkin for me has the potential to be a #4 But seriously, Edler at 33 is looking very good and there's no telling when his play will actually begin to drop off. If Hughes grows into the #1 over the next year or 2 then Edler's minutes could be reduced and his longevity may increase.
  2. Tryamkin had all sorts of potential. I have to wonder if what he reportedly said regarding being disappointed at his ice time was true. Does he really feel entitled or was something lost in translation? He's definitely not coming to be a 7/8 D. I have to wonder if he is going to expect to be a 3/4 getting 20 mins at least because he's going to have to earn that. This was his potential but we just don't know how good he is going to be after 3 seasons in the KHL. Could he replace Edler? I don't think he's that good. Prove me wrong Nik.
  3. To be fair, the Tryamkin we remember from 2016-17 was 22 years old, now he is 25 (August birthday, my math is fine) and presumably he has developed in the more than 2 seasons since he left. We really don't know if he would make the team as it sits now. The team is way deeper at all positions than it was back then. The only way we find out is to have him come over on a trial basis. The Canucks are looking like a legit playoff contender with the roster as it is. Mind, the schedule has been light in terms of the quality of competition. Time will tell.
  4. Canucks shouldn't lose to a team like the Kings...... ......I'm talking to you Drew Doughty
  5. Show EP some old Bure highlights.......how effective a well placed elbow can be Actually, that wasn't a bad shot at Martinez
  6. Lol, my pole climbing days were behind me by 94.... I watched game 7 at home
  7. I missed the riot but I was downtown watching game 6 at the Century Plaza bar with friends. After the game people were spilling out onto the streets from everywhere as the city erupted in an outburst of joy. The series was tied and our Canucks had a very real chance to win the cup. Everybody was cheering as we walked down the streets and cars flying Canucks flags (which were new in 94) were cruising the streets. It was the most fun I had had to that point in this city. Nobody writes about what happened after game 6 but this is what brought so many people downtown for game 7 and they were disappointed. Of course, a few came looking for trouble in the anonymity of a crowd.
