  1. Dupuis is one of the top notaries in New West (if not the top) and he does a lot of real estate deals. New West has plenty of notaries because that's where the land titles office is. He knows what he is doing and has been in business in NW for more than 20 years
  2. I'd like to see Hughes with a different partner. I don't see Tanev as offensively minded as the partner of Hughes needs to be. My suggestion on D would be: Edler Tanev Hughes Myers I think that Myers is better offensively than I expected. Hughes skating could help him out and conversely, my impression is that Myers has the mind to complement Hughes when he goes on offensive runs. Benn is fine. Miller, I really like. I think he has what it takes to play with Petey. I felt he was the best forward v Edmonton. Ferland, I will give a pass because he has lost 10 lbs and needs time to recover.
  3. Biega's last season no doubt. Good luck Alex. He's a Harvard boy. Brains there, he'll do well in the PA
  4. You see it all the time when a star player comes back from injury. The other players take their foot off the gas and let up and teams look worse. It takes a game or 2 to get it back together
  5. Rust, rust, rust.....if I see another pass behind a guy that halts a zone entry or breakout I'm going to SCREAM!!! Lots of new players in key positions, not enough playing time together, and the talent level is up on paper....so they're good right? But they still have to work hard. That was their identity last year. Where did the hard work go? The good news is that we saw some urgency and emotion in the 3rd period last night. I think the wake up call has been received.
  6. They added some talent this year. You could predict a let down in the intensity level because they think that they are good now. I think that the 3rd period showed that they get that they still have to work hard. The number of missed passes is so frustrating. They'll be fine when the rust is off AND when they start playing hard again
  7. No, I just don't bye your argument. I really don't believe that NHL coaches are making decisions because they are afraid their players might get hurt. Players can get injured falling off a horse. What do you say about their team building exercise in Banff?
  8. Sure it is fair criticism. All regular season games count the same. Shouldn't the Canucks be ready for game 1? The power play has to be better and the rust has to be off for game 1.
  9. Right, my statement was not worded in the best way. Obviously, Boeser and Fantenberg were in concussion protocol, but here is the line up from the last preseason game vs Arizona on Sept 26 followed by the line up from the season opener Oct 2. Clearly the line up was not set by the end of the pre-season. There were 6 missing players not including Boeser: Horvat, Pearson, Miller, Sutter, Benn and Stecher. There are pro's to Greens approach, like giving certain players as much of a chance as possible but the trade off is that the team will be a little rough for the first few games. I would rather see the team ready to go for game 1 and having played 2 games without players like Graovac, MacEwen, Briesbois and Chatfield who didn't have a snowballs chance of making the team. Baer, Gaudette and Goldy maybe because they had a realistic chance.
  10. The whole team is going to take a few games to come up to speed. Boseser and Ferland didn't have much play in the pre-season and the final line up didn't play a lot together. I criticize Green for not setting the line up earlier (2 full games would have been fine). They will get over it.
  11. My impression was that Green felt that he needed 2 match up lines against McDavid and Draisaitl on separate lines. And it worked for most of the game. In general, they did out play the Oilers for all but maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes you come out on the wrong end of the score when you are the better team. Green's quote about not keeping Gaudette with the Canucks so he can sit in the press box is self evident isn't it? Gaudette has to play, they all know that. If he's not going to play with the big club, he'll be sent down. Inserting Gaudette into the line up and Loui out, makes the team faster. I felt the Oilers were the faster team on Wednesday. So, they keep Sutter in for his PK work and have a faster, more offensively skilled 3rd line. And they're going to give Jake a try on PK2 (I assume) as he has taken a turn on the PK in practice. Looking forward to Saturday nite. Go Canucks!!
  12. This is pretty funny. It sounds like the boys had a good time. Horse back riding is always a winner. I was at a similar place in Manning Park as a kid and it left an impression. I remember they sized up each rider and asked about experience before pairing them up with a suitable horse so that everybody has fun. I remember mine wasn't sure and tested me out a little. When I stayed on his back I guess he thought that I was ok because he settled down and we had nice ride after that.
  13. This, in my opinion, is on how Green (and Benning) are running the pre-season. On the one hand, they may be selecting the best players by keeping players with a chance around and playing in pre-season games longer. But on the other hand, the team doesn't gel, because the final line up isn't playing together very much. We're just going to have to put up with some rough play over the first few games. The Oilers looked more polished to me I still think Baertschi belongs in the top 9
  14. Did I hear that they were trying to have 2 PP units of equal quality? They may give it a few games (10?) and if the results are so so, load up on the 1st unit.
  15. HItchcocks D structure helped the Oilers for a few weeks when he started and I totally agree, Tippett has the Oilers playing a good system in their own end and in the neutral zone. Zone entries are difficult and once set up in the zone, down low and in between the dots is tough. McDavid was handled for most of the game but all he needs is one opportunity. Same goes for Petey. Teams are going to throw a lot of challenges for our skilled guys and as they're just going to have to solve them. Sometimes it takes a little time.
  16. In: Gaudette, Motte, Baertschi Out: Schaller, Virtanen, Eriksson Fixed.......I get it, Motte out for 2 weeks
  17. It's not as bad as that. 33-22 shots. Hughes with 23 mins. Myers comes as advertised. Miller too. Ferland looked like he was sick for a good chunk of the pre-season. And....Tippett teams are as annoying as he!! to play against. It's clear that a few players were pretty quiet Virtanen, Schaller, Leivo......I can think of a couple of players who would up the speed like Gaudette and Motte (out for 2 weeks)
