Yes, who would have thought that they would start to play better 10 games after trading away their Captain -

All the players on the teams at the bottom of the standings are trying their hardest. Canuck management is trying to tank when they play 6/19 AHL players but at the end of the day, the Canucks are going to finish where they should in the standings. Petey is a special player who can clearly carry a team on his back. There aren't a lot of players who can do that. As frustrating as the Canucks have been this year, they are not an equal of the Arizona Coyotes. They have been totally under performing for a long time and that is why Boudreau was let go. Tocchet has torn the team down and is in the process of building them back up. It is all about next year at this point and built up, these guys have got something -

Which means your renewal will surely be for more. Is that how shy Swedes celebrate? -
In Rutherford's first interview as President, he said that the most important part of his job was to "manage up". In other words to sell the owner on his vision, strategy and key moves. This, right away, separated him from practically every other manager in the Aquilini era. Next point, we have a couple of things going on with the top management that needs to be remembered: Management has been climbing the learning curve with this organization. They have been trying to formulate a strategy at the same time as they evaluate the management group and the roster. Rutherford hired a GM in Allvin who had never been a GM before and he also said in his first interview that his role was to be an advisor to Allvin and that Allvin was the one who was going to be making the deals. They have also learned to appreciate who the core players really are and who is out for themselves over the over all group. I think that the core, in the opinion of management has become Petey and Hughes and that they're building around these 2 players now. In the revised strategy, we're seeing Allvin go after draft picks, young highly rated prospects and roster players no older than 26. I really hope that they're including Demko as core but I haven't heard it said outright. But players like Boeser and others are clearly on the list to help clear cap space. Beauvillier, the most recent add, is a good skater and can play multiple roles. They're happy with Kuzmenko as a player for the future and have re-signed him to a good contract (short and not too much). We're going to see players moved out and signed as opportunity allows moving forward. This clearly depends on the salary cap determined by the league and how willing other teams are to make deals which will open up cap space To me, it is becoming more clear what the plan is unlike the previous regime which seemed to always be reacting to the latest whim of ownership.

Agree, I think all they do at the TDL is move Schenn. Bigger game on the Canucks roster has more than one year remaining on their contracts. They've already moved one elephant and the rest are for the offseason. Honestly, if Allvin can move Myers and Boeser this year, that would be some awesome work.

[Proposal] Potential Schenn trades
Crabcakes replied to Coconuts's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
11 days until the TDL. As we get closer, Schenn's price likely goes up. We may very well see a 2nd (52 - 64 OA) coming back on Schenn on his own. I take that ahead of giving up a very high 2nd (39) in order to pick 20 -32 OA. Your plan gives us 1 less pick in the first 3 rounds and we're swapping the 39th pick for 20-32, which is moving up only 7-19 spots The alternatives are: Stand pat. Keep Schenn. Pick 7, 15, 39, 71..... Trade Schenn for a 2nd. Pick 7, 15, 39, 52-64, 71..... Trade Schenn and a 2nd for a late 1st. Pick 7, 15, 20-32, 71..... -
Pittsburgh signed him as a free agent in 2020 on a 1 year, cheap contract ($700k) after Calgary did not re-sign. Pittsburgh did not re-sign and he was picked up by Buffalo for 1 year and Nashville for 1 year and has been playing between the AHL and NHL. I think JR & PA know his worth. Busteroo!

The response was verbal from Miller and Schenn. Nobody was near Petey and by the time players arrived Konecny was on the bench. The video pretty much sums it up. Sore looser cry baby. Has done that before. As if 1 empty net goal is all you're allowed to score, any more is running up the score. Well, no, as long as the goalie is pulled there's a faint hope to come back and the opposition is foolish to stop trying. Wah wah wah.... -

Yotes have tied the game up with the Kings late in the 3rd 5-5 -
This is right. But Allvin will take 2 years to accomplish this. Bear went thru arbitration last year. His QO was $2.4 (which was on a contract he signed with the Oilers) and he signed a 1 year contract for $2.2 with Carolina after arbitration and hardly played. He was traded to Van with $400k retained, hence his $1.8M cap hit. I think you are right that Bear is going to want $2.5M. Allvin needs to be disciplined. He can get serviceable bottom pair players for $1M. Dermott (1.5) and Stillman (1.35) are at the high end. I would expect both Bear and Dermott to not be qualified. Stillman has one more year on his present contract.
