  1. Please don't. They aren't fans and are best ignored. I should have worded that post better then
  2. Did Marky teach Demmer to head the puck? I don't imagine Demko played soccer as a kid in San Diego
  3. FWIW I don't think anybody "wants" any of our top players to be traded. But management is saying that in order to fix holes in the line up, somebody has to move. So who do they pick? Whoever it is, people are going to be upset.
  4. SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT
  5. Miller, OEL and Schenn are not your core. They are veteran support for your core. The bare bones core is Petey (23), Hughes (22), and Demko (26). These are the players who you build around. This is the thing about hanging on to Miller come hell or high water that I don't get because good as he is, he can never be more than a support player. I don't suppose it's against the model to pay him more than the young core players because this contract coming up will be the biggest in his career in terms of AAV and he is clearly a very good player. And it is still a good thing to have a few veterans on the team to lend leadership and to set an example of how to train, practice etc the right way. So Miller is valuable, yet if there is more value to be had from the return from trading a support player than the value that he brings to the group on his own, then you know what needs to be done. I'm not saying trade Miller. I'm saying that we need to keep what he is to this team in perspective.
  6. In general, there's only 1 way to get high end talent, draft it. Apart from that, I think that you can do better by trading picks than by drafting with them. The reason being that in hockey, players are drafted at 17 or 18 and aren't usually ready to play for 3 or 4 years or even more (if at all). You can give up picks for players or prospects who will actually play. I think that's why in most cases, Benning freely traded 2nd's but kept his 1st's
  7. I agree. I've said this before, I think that they're going to move somebody who people will be upset about. They have to. I'm not sure who it will be and it may be 2 players who some people think are core but holes in the line up have to be filled. Good teams nowadays have 3 lines who can score. They badly need a 3C at the right price. The D needs reworking. I'm liking Dermot so far. Step 1
  8. There is this for sure. But I would like to add, I think that what happens is whether they think they can make a move or 2 in the summer and become competitive in a hurry or will it take longer....2, 3, 4 years? If it's going to take longer, then Miller may be aged out before they are truly competitive. Miller 29 (just had his birthday) is only 2 years older than Horvat (b'day early April). Of course the bare bones core is young Petey (23), Hughes (22), Demko (26)
  9. Ha ha, lay off the whisky Jan, Alf should not be your role model
  10. I think that Green's reasoning was to give the top offensive players a rest on the PK and give them lots of offensive zone starts. This strategy didn't work very well this year
  11. Sometimes when you chuck spaghetti against the wall it sticks
  12. Allvin was a pro scout, so is Granato
  13. This bodes well for pro-scouting for the new regime which was a weakness of the old regime. It's going to take good pro-scouting to take the team to the next level. Dermott seems to be the right sort of player to pair up with Rathbone and who comes in at the right price. Should Allvin have used the cap flexibility that he gained from moving Hamonic? Absolutely, if the opportunity is there.
