  1. I don't think they move both Miller and Boeser. Boeser is a better comparable with Miller and his numbers are better at the same age. Having said that, Boeser doesn't play centre or skate as well. Brock is still developing and may end up having the better career but that is speculation. I think that your estimate of Millers contract is on the high side but again, we don't really know what his next contract will look like. Miller wears forearm pads. I think that EP should give them a try. Boeser too.
  2. This is what I mean. There are compelling arguments either way. Nice job Coconuts. If they back up the Brinks truck to Millers door, they're going to have an issue in 4 years when the real core is in their prime. On the other hand, guys like Miller don't come along very often. They're going to have to be very careful which ever way they go. There's a chance the buyer offers good young players who never reach their potential. Either way, there's a risk involved.
  3. I think they move Poolman before Hamonic if they can. Myers, Hamonic, Schenn, Juulson/Burrows on the right side if they can't do anything. Replace Hamonic if they can.
  4. No problem. I can take criticism. It's just that my thoughts on this have changed. I used to be all aboard with trading Miller for example. Now not so much. As I said earlier, I just don't know. I get what they need to do but there are good arguments both ways with so many players. The closer I look and the more time that goes by, the less sure I am of anything. Even Pearson has had some good games
  5. You're quoting me from more than a month ago and I was spit balling just like you are here. My opinion on March 12? I have no idea what they might do. Which forward might they move to fix the defense? I like them all. Rutherford has said that as long as they are competitive, meaning have a realistic shot at the playoffs, and they still do, he's not going to make trades. I don't expect anything to happen at the TDL. There is great value for the entire teams development to be winning games at this point of the season. The team is showing great character every time they come from behind to take the lead like last night v the Caps. We have 2 players who will be UFA's this year. Motte and Halak. Halak has said that he won't waive his NTC so I guess he walks. Probably right into retirement imo. Motte they need to sign or trade him. There are no other options. As for who do they move for cap relief and to fix the D? Pick em.
  6. That 4th line may not be skilled but they sure create chaos
  7. What now for Bains? Does he join Abby soon or next season? Anybody know?
  8. That's impressive. Even better than the Leafs..... But seriously, what really counts is how they play when the chips are down. I think as long as they keep winning and have a shot at the playoffs, that important players won't be dealt TDL or no
  9. I don't think they do anything until the offseason. I think that they will let this team compete hard for the playoffs because it will benefit each and every player They can't let Motte go for nothing so if they can't sign him, he'll be gone. This is the one exception Halak apparently has said that he won't waive his NTC, they'd trade him if the could but he's not playing along. Perhaps he plans to retire I suspect that they'll do a re-jiggy-jiggy in the offseason. Who I do not know because there are good arguments not to move anybody except for Dickinson and Poolman. Having said all that, it is clear that the D is wanting and they need to add some decent players. They have 6 good top 6 forwards (if you agree with Pearson as one of those) and 2 who look like they're on the way to being good As for the D, the only one who I particularly like is Hughes. I also like Schenn but he's a temporary piece at 32. I don't think we're getting good value from OEL and Myers. Hamonic is 31 and is alright when he's actually playing Bottom line, it makes sense to move a top forward for a top RHD but who?
  10. Miller says that he is fed up to the teeth with all the trade chatter about him. I wonder whether this is motivation for the career season that he is having. He is at 67 points in 57 games ......1.18 ppg The only other year that he was over a point per game was 2019/20....72 points in 69 games ....1.04 ppg
  11. No. Is the team a true contender in 2 years if they bolster the back end by taking away from the forward group?
  12. Listening to parts of a Serevelli interview on 650 today and my take away is that there's a good chance that next to nothing is done at the trade deadline. Maybe Motte gets moved because they won't want to lose him to free agency. He's the only UFA with any value. The heavy lifting will be done in the off season. And even then, Serevelli suggests that the Canucks are in a high leverage situation with their big assets because they win if they keep them and given that, there's no pressure to move them and they don't have to unless they get a great offer.
  13. These are the questions that Allvin is answering right now. As Friedman said between periods last night, he's talking to all of the agents and getting an idea of what player expectations are for contract renewals. This is all going to factor in to what gets done between now and July. All things equal, of course they should keep the 4th line. They are the 1 line that plays the way they want the team to look in the future.
  14. Benning gave him $2.8M based on 25 points in his rookie year and 19 points to follow it up but he was -21 and -22 in those years respectively. This is an evaluation issue. Benning got it wrong and wasn't going to be able to lower his salary himself. Sometimes paying a kid too much is doing him a disservice. He got his salary lowered and is a reasonable bottom pair player earning less than $1M. He's lucky because he can pay in the league at that rate. Def not 2.8
  15. JR said that as long as they are playing meaningful games, ie still in the playoff hunt, they won't be making deals. I think that this takes them right up to the TDL but maybe later. JR also said that player trades will be made by the GM. He's not going to be making the call. Having said that, I think that Allvin is cut from the same cloth. We also heard from Friedman tonight on 32 thoughts who said that management has been going thru the roster to determine value of all the players from other GM's, the likely contract situations from respective Agents and will be making decisions based on this information and on how they see the team in the longer term. In other words, what has been passed off as trade rumours by the media is not that at all. It is due diligence So in the near future we may or may not see deals made. We will certainly see deals made in the offseason. The more time that goes by, the better read they are going to have on various players. For example, Hunt looked like a bag of pucks and is starting to look like a hockey player and Pearson was meh for most of the year and recently is starting to look like he's worth his salary. So, we will see.....
  16. What ever happened to Gunnarson? The guy was a horse, one of the strongest guys in the draft. Can he skate? Those were the days when the group looked good. As time went on they couldn't take the team to the next level. I did like Benning but he couldn't do much more than draft
