  1. You're totally right Alf but what I fear is that we're dealing with people who don't have that patience. Well, we're not really dealing with them but we're watching them make a hash of things
  2. Culture broken. Glue guys moved out. Markstrom, Tanev, Edler, Stecher etc In the vacuum left behind we have a re-set with players vying for influence over the group and a divided room looking for their identity. It's nothing sinister, it's a natural thing that must be worked out. In the mean time.... chaos People who aren't players can't do it. Sedins no, Green, no
  3. I think so too. But I think it takes a special kind of GM to work with Babcock. Then again, maybe that's a good thing
  4. So they're going to fire both Benning and Green and also hire a polarizing and domineering coach like Babcock? They might but they'll have a heck of a time hiring a GM to work with him. He's going to want at least 5 x 5 too. That's job security in itself. Who wants to be paying that out for 4 more years if it doesn't work out. The Babs rumour is just that. FA would have to be mental.
  5. Something is wrong in the room. The team isn't playing like a team. Some players just don't have the jump or desire that they should have. What is the cause of this? Lots of people around the team are being asked this question and nobody seems to know or maybe they just aren't saying. Pettersson put up points at about a 0.9 ppg rate in his first 3 years. This year it's 0.5 ppg and the points are coming at an inconsistent rate. That's a pretty drastic change so I ask you, which season is the outlier? I could go through the entire team and find similar results for most of the team. The exception is Miller (the eyeroll guy ) Garland and Hughes. We know that the core of this team is capable of more. Ask yourself, what happened after the bubble that may have caused a rift in the room? How many important members of that group are no longer with the team? That is my theory. It may not be the whole answer but I bet you that is has a lot to do with it.
  6. A retool is when you keep the core and replace a lot of the support players So what's the core of the Canucks? Pettersson, Hughes, Demko? Is that it? Horvat, Boeser? Hoglander, Podkolzin? There has to be another D right?
  7. Making the playoffs is a big milestone on the way to a cup. Ownership wants a cup. It takes a lot to do that.
  8. Yes but the Blues weren't rebuilding and the Canucks were. Well, they were re-tooling, then when that didn't work out, they did a full unconventional rebuild. They didn't have many assets to deal for picks or prospects (Hansen and Burrows) so there's that Anyhow, you do have a point. We could certainly have expected the slumping Blues to play better. As for the Canucks, you would have to think that they're going to start to play better..... one day.
  9. Ya, but how do you think the family is going to react when a few short months ago, they were sold on re-signing Green? The optics are not good for Jimmy.
  10. Teams contacting the Canucks about Boeser doesn't mean he's on the block. It means GM's are fishing.
  11. Not a fan of trades at this time. However, if they move a top line winger, or a top player period, it has to be for a bona fide top 4 RHD A smart move imo would be Myers + Pearson for a quality RHD who can play defense. It may be an over pay but to fill the biggest need the team has, it might be worth it.
  12. I had no idea Jimmy could be so animated..... is that photo shopped?
  13. Ya, a 1 game winning streak..... keep it up boys.....extend the streak!
  14. Corey Hirsch spoke out about the Canucks issues and suggested that it was caused by an unnamed player who was poisoning the room against the coach. This rumour died a quick death as it didn't really hold up to scrutiny imo. Has there been anything on this recently?
  15. They finished first in the Central in 2014 with 112 points, then lost in the first round to the Wild They then fired their GM and promoted Sakic who proceeded with a re-tool and missed the playoffs for 3 straight years. They've been a playoff team since 2017-18 and won the Presidents Trophy last year.
  16. That's pretty optimistic. Let's say they are a playoff team by the trade deadline. They would have to have had a turnaround like the St Louis Blues in 2019. If they had such a turnaround, then clearly they were a really good team despite this prolonged slump and to proceed with a rebuild would be a big mistake.
