I think that Poolman is a decent player but his record of games played per season has been pretty consistent. He misses about half the games. Below is his record as a pro. 2017-18 he played 41 games, split between the Jets and Moose 2017-18 Winnipeg Jets NHL 24 1 1 2 0 2 2 0 0 0 0 2017-18 Manitoba Moose AHL 17 1 9 10 4 -2 -- -- -- -- -- 2018-19 Manitoba Moose AHL 43 5 20 25 10 4 -- -- -- -- -- 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets NHL 57 4 12 16 24 -1 4 0 0 0 2 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets NHL 39 0 1 1 2 -2 8 1 1 2 0 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks NHL 40 1 2 3 12 2 -- -- -- -- -- 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks NHL 3 0 1 1 0 1 -

Allvin is a smart guy and smart guys don't deal in absolutes. He wouldn't say he'd never trade any player, nor would he say he's going to move on from anybody by trade or buyout or whatever. If you listen to the presser, you'll hear him repeat this time and again. You never know what the future holds. My take, JT Miller is a point a game player who is well liked and respected by players on the team. I find him to be articulate and thoughtful and I believe Rutherford when he considers that the core of the team is Petey, Hughes, Miller and Demko. I really think that JT Miller will be the Canucks next Captain. -

You can probably find something from last years media availability on line somewhere. After the way the team performed the 2nd half of last year, I doubt that players would have been complaining about Bruce. I think that Bruce coaches in a way that suits a mature team where players hold each other accountable. Tocchet is holding them accountable. This is more what a younger team needs. -

I think that's true. I remember JR saying that having a "feel good" players coach would help the Canucks at that time and obviously it did. Over time, he saw that the Canucks were in a worse situation than he thought and that they really needed a coach who brought a well structured approach. We have seen that this also is true. -

I don't think they're buying out OEL. It's a really crappy buy out to make and it's not just the cash, it's dealing with north of $2M of dead cap for 4 additional years. If OEL can train in the summer, show up to camp fit, and we can see the player we saw 2 years ago, I think we can deal with the over payment for 4 more years. That's the 2nd best scenario. Obviously, the best situation is to trade him (even with a certain amount retained) -

I was surprised, to be honest, that the Canucks performed as well after the Horvat trade as before. Trade your top goal scorer at the time and not miss a beat. Makes you wonder. -

I would suggest that ownership submarined Rutherford by hiring a coach before the person who is responsible for the management of the club. And then he gave that coach control over his second year. I'm not making excuses for Rutherford's poor behavior but I can certainly see the crappy position he was put in. -

Head games? You don't know that. Tocchet hasn't said what his non-negotiables are and I'm not a hockey coach. The important part is that the non-negotiables have to be applied evenly to every player. We can all understand that much. Each player must be approached in an effective way for that player so that they understand. I'm sure that Gonchar speaks Russian well so the language issue doesn't cut it. I would suggest that for his entire life, Kuzmenko hasn't been asked to play defense or perhaps, he has been allowed to get away with not being responsible. He will come around eventually. -

I'm surprised by all the people on here who don't understand that a leader must be consistent with everybody. Look, Tocchet said early on that he has certain rules that are non-negotiable. If you don't follow these rules, you ride the pine. This is exactly what happened to Kuzmenko and if Tocchet didn't enforce his non-negotiables with Kuz, he would loose all credibility with the team. It's leadership 101. I'm glad that they hired a coach that understands this and brings a little backbone to the club. This is exactly what they need. It's not a country club. -
The Calgary Flames Excellent Season

Some players take a long time to get over a trade particularly the first time they're traded like JH. I don't know his family situation but if he now has a wife and kids, they may not have moved before and it takes time to acclimate to a new city. I would expect him to rebound next year. The Flames have some older players but I think that the bulk of their line up is young enough for them to rebound next year. Just as long as they rebound less than the Canucks right? -
That's right. They aren't exactly flush with draft picks or players who they might deal either. The cupboards are bare. Sound familiar? They're like the Canucks circa 2014 They've had 3 low 1st round picks in the last 10 years. 2022 Pickering (21 OA) 2019 Poulin (21 OA) 2014 Kapanen (22 OA)

Try this: the team with the worst record picks first second worst picks second and so on if a team legitimately tanks, it hurts every player on the team so they do so at their peril simpler is better

Maybe he is good then. Often, when a player has committed to college before the draft, they fall in the draft -

I'm sure that Toronto fans are reacting no differently than any other teams fans who think they've landed the answer in NCAA free agency -
