  1. i think he can come back, and put up 40+ pts. if he is truly done i see him going to Europe and thats no problem, we can just sign someone else or let Raymond or Higgins have his spot
  2. If I was Mike Gillis and the season starts Jan 1st with a 48 game schedule, there are a few moves i would and wouldn't make 1. I would not trade Luongo, at least not yet. With a 48 game schedule it will be condensed with teams playing 3-4 times per week and a good goalie tandem is needed to stay on top of the league. If Gillis were to trade Luongo now his value would be low because of him being pulled in the playoffs, but if Luongo is able to regain form and have a good regular season again his value would most likely go up. Then If at the trade deadline there are teams that feel they need better goal-tending to either 1)make the playoffs or 2) have better goal-tending in the playoffs to succeed, they will be more inclined to give up the necessary pieces to obtain him. and if Luongo refuses to waive his NTC until the end of the playoffs then so be it. a good goalie tandem is vital in the playoffs, and who knows maybe Luongo can overtake Schneider for the starting job like Tim Thomas did in 2010-2011, he has the ability to do so. i believe in him, plus i dont want to give up on Lu.I would not be comfortable with Lack as our backup because he isnt really doing all that great in the AHL right now and needs to work on his consistency. 2. keep the AHL players in the AHL. Kassian, Tanev, Lack and the PROSPECTS in the minors(Ebbett and depth players get called up for depth) unless our team get injured and needs those guys up. bringing them up now to play bottom minutes is detrimental to their development.if Kassian is playing top 6 min in the AHL getting lots of confidence, then we bring him up for 4th line min in the NHL he loses that confidence and makes him far less effective. same goes with Tanev, except he would get far more playing time than Kassian. 3. Don't trade away depth players for picks or prospects. with a shortened season injures will be far more important to deal with, and could be the difference between making the playoffs or not. so just because you hate Raymond and dont feel hes good doesnt mean he should be traded for a 2nd rounder. If Higgins goes down injured we have Raymond and Hansen ready to fill in on that position. if Booth and Higgins gets injured we have Hansen, Raymond and Ebbett ready to fill in the depth chart. big No No in a shortened season. 4. Sign depth players for maximum 2 year to increase our depth. just some ideas, not signing all of them -Jim Vandermeer 1 year @ $800 000; he has expressed interest in the canucks and could be a good depth guy in-case of injuries -Kristian Huselius 1 year @ 2mill; high risk, high reward player. if he stays healthy he could be a very good top 6 player, if not he is off our books after a shortened season anyways. -Jason Arnott 1 years @ 2.2mill; both the Canucks and Arnott expressed interest in each-other and he could be a great 3rd line center, with leadership and gritt. -Gilbert Brule 2 years @ 900 000per, 2-way contract; another high risk high reward player. if he can get back the magic he once had maybe he could become a top tier talent like others in his draft class. if not he can be used as and Ebbett type player Final Roster outline FORWARDS Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Alexandre Burrows ($2.000m) Kristian Huselius ($2.000m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / David Booth ($4.250m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Mason Raymond ($2.275m) Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) / Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m) Aaron Volpatti ($0.600m) / Dale Weise ($0.615m) DEFENSEMEN Kevin Bieksa ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Alexander Edler ($3.250m) Keith Ballard ($4.200m) / Jim Vandermeer ($0.800m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) / GOALTENDERS Cory Schneider ($4.000m) Roberto Luongo ($5.333m) ------ CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $68,798,333; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,401,667 then after that season we have these contracts coming off the books, leaving us with a lot of money to resign Edler, Higgins, Lapierre, Malholtra and others that earned a spot on the roster. Mason Raymond ($2.275m) Manny Malhotra ($2.500m) Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) Chris Higgins ($1.900m) Kristian Huselius ($2.000m) Dale Weise ($0.615m) Aaron Volpatti ($0.600m) Andrew Ebbett ($0.600m) Andrew Alberts ($1.225m) Alexander Edler ($3.250m) Jim Vandermeer ($0.800m)
  3. FACT: The NHL and NHLPA are fighting over money we have not yet given them. this is my favorite. so true
  4. 2012-2013 season standings and reasons 1.New Yorkk Rangers(wins Atlantic Division) -with the addition of nash they now have the best top 6 in the league and an extremely dangerously offensive team. but they have a average bottom 6. and defense although good its still not as well rounded or as deep as other teams. they might be better than the canucks on paper but there division and conference has gotten better so i dont see them winning the presidents trophy. 2. Boston Bruins(wins North East Division) -the bullies of the NHL there the top tier team in there division. more physical and a lot more rounded than other teams. rask is a question mark if he can handle a full season. other than that they are good too go. 3. Washington Capitals(wins South East Division) -they started playing a lot better latter in the season and if there stars can stay healthy they have a god team. im still not sure about holtby. corey crawford had a great playoffs before he had a full season and now there looking for another goalie. but im going to have to go off the playoffs alone so i think there going to be alright. 4.Pittsburgh Penguins - with crosby returning they now have the 2 best players in the world. they almost won the west last year without crosby but NYR upgraded there roster more and have a better top 6, defense and goaltending imo. they come 2nd points wise behind NYR but 4th due to divisional rankings 5. Buffalo Sabers -they got off to an extremely rocky start and never seemed to overcome the hole that they have dug at the beginning of the year. they added a lot of good pieces and filled needs. if miller can get back to the top of his game like he was doing at the end of last season they are a good well rounded team. 6. Phillidelphia Flyers -offense is great defense took a major hit regarding injuries and loosing some guys to FA. Mr.Universe(bryzgalov) is still a big mystery in net. i think he will have a better season but there team just doesnt look as good as last year and other teams have gotten better. 7. Ottawa Senators -they have decent depth good top 6 and average defense. i think karlsson will have a big drop off of points and there overall team will drop a bit. spezza will dominate alfredsson`s age will catch up to him 8.Carolina Hurricanes -they added a lot of pieces and have an explosive top 6 now. there defense is still sub par and depth is somewhat lacking. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. Florida Panthers -they lost a few good players(mainly garrison) but there young guns are coming up nicley i see them slot in a few positions but there team is still not good enough. if they get luo i woudld put them higher but with theo and clemmensen im not sure. theo gets injured and clemmensen is decent at best. 10. Winnipeg Jets -there still missing a few key pieces to make this a playoff team. i think another top 6 winger and top 4 d-man and they will maybe even win the division. they did improve however. 11. New Jersey Devils -they lost there captain and best player. i dont see them having a good enough team to even make the playoffs. i think brodeurs age will catch up on him and they will be left with no number 1 in net. 12. Tampa Bay Lightning -they addressed there defense issues and got a goalie. however i dont think lindback is good enough to be a number one and i think he will falter. there forward lines arent the deepest either, with the lack of depth this team just isnt ready yet. 13. Toronto Maple Leafs -goaltending needs to change if they want a playoff spot. there team lacks depth and structure. they dont have a number one center or a number one goalie. there defense is the only good part of the team imo. 14.Montreal Canadiens -with no improvements to this roster see them do slightly better than last year. they need to rebuild. 15. New York Islanders -this team just needs to let there young guns develop. there whole team just isnt good enough for the NHL at this point. in a few years when there young talent develops they will have a good team but for now there not good. and depietro sucks Playoff Predictions 1.NYR vs 8. Carolina: NYR in 5. Carolina has a good team but NYR have a better team. better in almost every way. if NYR stars dont under perform they will take this one easy. 2.Boston vs 7. Ottawa: Boston in 6 -Bostons grit and toughness will conquer ottawas skill just like they did to the canucks. 3.Washington vs 6.Phillidephia: Philly in 7 -both have questionable goal tending, good offense and decent defense. very even matchup but i think philly is a better coached team, considering oats hasnt coached in the NHL yet. 4. Pittsburgh vs 5. Buffalo: Pens in 6 -pittsburgh has a better offense, buffalo has the better defense. if fleury doesnt choke again pittsburgh will win round 2 1.NYR vs 6.Phillidephia: NYR in 6 -philly just cant match up to the rangers team. there tougher, deeper, better defense and philly has gotten worse while NYR have gotten a lot better. 2.Boston vs 4.Pittsburgh: Boston in 5 -Boston wins because they can bully crosby and malkin and shut them down. the pens lack of secondary scoring will leave them vulnerable, boston has a very deep team. bruins good hockey beats pits skill hockey. crosby tries any of his crap and there dead. crosby get injured again by marchand too. Eastern Conference Finals 1.NYR vs 2.Boston: NYR in 7 -both teams have very good contradiction to eachother. NYR forward top 6 is better. bostons defense top 4 is better. rask is worse than king henrik though so they loose. NYR get extremely beat up in this series though. STANLEY CUP FINALS Vancouver Canucks vs New York Rangers game 1:van wins 3-2 OT -lapierre gets the OT winner game 2: NYR wins 2-0 -cory gives up a bad one at the beginning and the canucks cant bounce back. they score an empty netter. game 3:NYR wins 3-1 -van gets out muscled and outplayed game 4. van wins 4-2 -we get 3 pp goals in a penalties ridden game game 5. van wins 2-1 -best game of the series. raymond scores to put us ahead game 6. Van wins 4-3 tripleOT -burrows gets the game winner. we win our first stanley cup, the city riots again it becomes a cup finals tradition that cant be changed. lol reason: cuz im a canucks fan what kind of person would i be if they didnt win. also we have a lot more depth than NYR. our defense is better. there goaltending is better but cory is good enough to win. there top 6 is a lot tougher but we have a more skilled team. sedins are better than nash and richards. our team is good we just needs a few pieces and im 100% sure we will win
  5. i read this somewhere before. i dont remember where though
  6. i like the troll one. can i use that as my sig?
  7. iv always liked him but he needs a few more years to develop. plus i see him going to Europe for his career
  8. 2012-2013 season standings + reasoning west: 1. Vancouver Canucks(wins NW division and presidents trophy) -we are the deepest team in the west, if not the whole league and our goaltending and defense are great. we just need to stay healthy and we have another presidents trophy due to our weak division(tho the teams have improved) and many eastern teams getting better but western teams getting worse. 2. St. Louis Blues(wins central division) -a great coach and defensive system along with great goaltending and a roster with a lot of depth really makes the blues a great team. i think the teams in there division have gotten worse while the blues have largely stayed the same. 3. LA Kings(wins pacific division) -tho they did win the cup, you must not forget they barley made the playoffs. a full 82 game season can hurt this team, but they are the cup champs so they might surprise and dominate the regular season much like they did the post season. 4. Chicago Black-hawks -there teams as a whole is great but the goaltending is still weak and a big concern. if they fix there goaltending i can see them winning there division as of now. they dont 5. San Jose Sharks -there top 6 is great bottom 6 not so much. there depth will hurt them and goaltending is not great. i dont think they will have enough depth to do great this year but better than last year where they under performed. plus they filled some holes in the defense 6. Detroit Red-Wings -with the loss of lindstrom they will undoubtedly falter but there team is still good enough to make the playoffs plus they are getting old so they fall a bit in the standings. 7. Minnesota Wild -part of the reason they were so bad last year was most of there roster got injured so a heathy roster and the additions of both suter and parise will help them a lot and they will finally make the playoffs again. 8. Dallas Stars -they added a lot to there team with veteran players and depth guys. i can see them finally squeaking into the post season. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9. Nashville Predators -with the loss of suter and several other players i just dont see this team being good enough to get into the playoffs. they lost top 6 forwards and didnt add much to there team. rinne will steal a few games for them but i just see other teams getting better and this team getting worse. 10. Anaheim Ducks -they did improve there team mainly on defense but if there stars under perform again i dont see them being playoff bound. depth is still a major issue they need to address and if hiller is good enough to get them to the post season. 11. Edmonton Oilers -great youth on this team. they will compete in a few years but there defense is still not good. they need to fix there defense if they want to make the playoffs. forwards are great tho 12. Calgary Flames -iginla and kipper are getting older and cant carry that team forever. they added some good pieces but they also lost some good pieces. i think this will be the breaking point there going to start rebuilding and trade away some players for young guns and picks. 13. Phoenix Coyotes -they lost some guys who contributed heavily to there team and if doan leaves there even worse off. plus i think mike smith was a one hit wonder i dont think he will do aswell next year. 14. Colorado Avalanche -a young team inexperienced and tho they did improve i still think they need more. looking at there defense and i see a bunch of 5th-6th d-men playing in there top 4. plus varlamov is still a question mark.i think they drop and look for another top 5 draft pick 15. Cloumbus Blue Jackets -there defense looks good, goaltending and forwards not so much. they lost there top point producer and got a few guys that will even things out a bit but there still largely the same team as last year. maybe worse Playoff Predictions: Round #1 1. Vancouver canucks vs 8. Dallas stars: Vancouver in 4 -we are the better team in all aspects. better offense, defense, toughness, goaltending etc.. we win easy 2.St Louis blues vs 7. Minnesota wild :Minnesota in 7 -i think with the stars on Minnesota roster they can really put a dent in st louis's defensive system. st.louis has more depth but there top 6 id worse than the wilds. suter and parise will help a lot and backstrom will have to shine if they want to make it out of the first round. i say halak and backstrom are roughly the same level when healthy. 3.LA kings vs 6. detroit red-wings: LA in 6 LA is tougher, younger, and deeper than the wings. la has better goaltending and defense than the wings and i dont think the wings can handle a team like this. 4.Chicago Black-hawks vs 5. San Jose Sharks: Chicago in 7 these teams are very even. both have great top 6 but goaltending is again an issue. i think the hawks are a tougher team and tho SJ goaltending is slightly better than the hawks i still think with the hawks ability to score and if crawford plays aswell as he did against us they can move on. Round #2 1.Vancouver canucks vs 7. Minnesota wild: Vancouver in 6 -its nice to have a division rival to play in the playoffs, but ultimatley we are the better team. they had the star power against the blues but we have more star power. the sedins>suter and parise. kesler, booth>koivu, heatley. we are deeper, better defensivley, better goaltending, better toughness. we take this series and make the wild division rivals now. 3.LA kings vs 4.Chicago Blackhawks: LA in 5 -LA is a better version of the hawks. they are bigger, tougher, more well rounded and a lot better goaltending. LA can bully the hawks because they dont have any big enforcers that will mess anyone up. plus LA is a lot deeper team. quick will outplay crawford in every game. i can see the hawks maybe win one game but thats all. Western Conference finals 1.Vancouver canucks vs 3.LA Kings. Vancouver in 7 -yes we meet our nemesis in the playoffs again but we are the better team. our roster is deeper and our goaltending is on par with there's. toughness will not be such a big issue this year because we have gotten better and meaner. with kassian on a line with the sedins, brown wont try anything unless he wants a fight and with our team healthy we can win. so thats my predictions for the western conference.next will be the eastern conference and the finals
