  1. I put the failures on this organization from ownership down, I think they're way too involved, everyone has their part to play in this teams failures but I don't put it on any one person in particular, Gillis included
  2. GMs don't make picks by throwing a dart at a board, it's not all a crapshoot. If you're a professional GM with a massive scouting background you should hit on a much higher percentage than what most people on this board would. It's not up to fate, it's up to you and your scouts when making the pick, if the player doesn't have potential to grow and you take him then it's a bad pick, it's not a "meh, oh well. Next year we'll get 'em". That's why it takes years, typically, in the league to get the position where you're making those decisions, because it's anything but a guessing game.
  3. Then we feel the same way about him. That series will haunt me for the rest of my life
  4. Hasek was always flopping around too and he's arguably the best goalie of all time, his numbers are insane. I hate Thomas too but he still earned his dues
  5. It took Thomas a long time to figure it out and make it in the NHL but when he did he certainly wasn't garbage, he was damn good for a few years.
  6. I think the reason I'd rather see Tanev moved over Edler is because he would bring a much better return. If Edler brought back a solid pick or prospect or combination of the 2 I'd be all over it but to expedite a rebuild and put us in the best position possible in a few years than Tanev is the guy to move
  7. Maybe I should re think that then haha. Kidding of course.
  8. Not in the slightest, just read passed the part you highlighted haha. This back and forth, while entertaining as hell, shouldn't be in the thread. If you wanna keep debating than PM me, we shouldn't subject everyone on here to your lack of intelligent debate
  9. I think everyone knows what a no trade clause is, believe it or not they get waived way more often then not when asked. Most players don't want to play where they aren't wanted and then just use it as leverage to go to a situation they'd be happy with. Gillis was way worse than Benning, absolutely.
  10. I just use common sense. If he tried and failed at that prior to the deadline then it's just as much an indictment on him than not moving them at all.
  11. Well we weren't a good team that year so why wait till the deadline to get the wheels in motion? Good asset management is being ahead of the ball, not behind it
  12. He definitely has but all in all I'm not a fan of his. I don't think he should be lynched but I think he needs to figure out what direction the team is headed and go with it, and that direction needs to be rebuild haha. Not moving Hamhuis or Vrbata a couple years ago really hurt. I just don't like the asset management. I love Tanev but he needs to go and it needs to be for futures. Picks and prospects is what we need above all else
  13. He's definitely made a few deals I really like. Baertschi was a killer pick up and Granlund was too but he's sure made some super questionable moves as well. Sometimes I just scratch my head in disbelief. I really don't like all the mixed messages him and trevor have sent to the fanbase, they must think the heavy majority of us are dumb. But you gotta give him props for the good moves he's made, and he's definitely made more than a couple
  14. If they both reach their ceilings we would have a very happy fanbase if that went down
  15. I never said he was a stud, I said I wouldnt trade him and a second for Gudbranson. Major difference. Just because you have Guddys poster on your wall doesn't mean you have to be so sensitive.
  16. Kesler was never asked to waive it, he asked to be traded and then gave Benning his long list of teams he'd go to which included Anaheim and, well Anaheim
  17. Absolutely. I wouldn't be upset if it was Villardi he's just not my preference. I would love having Glass and Horvat as cornerstones down the middle
  18. I personally like Glass more, I just think there's more potential there offensively. But like you said, I don't pretend to be a scout
  19. That's very true, but had he been at his best as a player he would have certainly made even more money. Not everyone has that Toews mentality but it would be nice if they did haha
  20. Haha solid response. Wellwood had unreal hands, it's too bad he didn't ever truly dedicate himself to the sport
