  1. I'd rather glass or Mittlestadt and whoever they're targeting in the 55th range for sure
  2. I'd like those moves too but I think you're shooting for the moon on both trades, both seem unrealistic.
  3. Yeah I hear you, I think he'll be solid too. I'm a big fan of his game. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just wouldn't. Gabe would definitely look good in our colours
  4. I could see that for sure. I just know I'd personally be disappointed. I want as many prospects as we can stuff in our cupboard as possible
  5. Oh you're absolutely right but as players I don't think there's any debate between the 2 who's better. I'd be shocked if he goes 2
  6. I heard that too, I don't know if jumping up 5-9 spots is worth losing the 55th overall pick too but who knows what will happen. We need to hoard picks not move them
  7. Anything can happen but I highly doubt he jumps into the second spot
  8. I'd be stoked with Vilardi too but not more than Mittlestadt/Glass plus another solid prospect. I just don't think we're deep enough to do that yet
  9. I don't think the Devils or Flyers would do either deal proposed here
  10. I was too young in 92 and 93 to really enjoy them and the Hawks have definitely gotten better over the years but that loss in 2015 was a heartbreaker haha. I'm with you though, hoping for the same thing
  11. I totally agree. Being a lifelong Canucks, Blue Jays and Seahawks fan have crushed a lot of my hopefulness haha. I don't mean to sound bitter or anything of that's the way I come across
  12. Ok, so 3 years after his draft year it doesn't and hasn't looked like he was the BPA at that spot. You're right, it's too early to definitely determine whether he is or isn't. But would you bet on him being that guy? From what we've seen so far? I hope he turns out to be the guy, I'd be the first to say I was wrong, and do it with a smile on my face.
  13. I hope you're right man, I want nothing more than him to be a solid player for us
  14. He refined the detailed parts of his game but didn't show the offence you'd like from a guy drafted that high, that's the reality of it. I'm not wearing blinders haha. You mentioned defending trolls not several hundred pages back but on this page. He didn't have a good tournament, even without the one dumb penalty he didn't look at all how we would have hoped. If you think he did then our eye for evaluation means beyond nothing to me seeing as it's way off. I'm not saying Jake is garbage, I'm saying until he shows he's a competent NHL player, like guys drafted behind him, then it's fair to expect criticisms on him. And at this point he doesn't need to be as good as the guys drafted behind him, just an effective 3rd liner and people will be happy at this point. If he turns into a legit top 6 guy then I will GLADLY eat crow. But in a realists world he will have to show that he can do that
  15. Well if the team thought he was the BPA they dropped the ball big time.
  16. Jake wasn't a threat in that tournament, he was a disappointment and a lot of people ended up blaming him for the loss. People that are and aren't fans of this team. You're clearly wearing rose coloured glasses. When he gives people a reason to heap praise on him, they will. Until then people will be disappointed he's the guy we took with the pick. Stop calling people trolls because they don't have the same outlook as you, it's ridiculous. I want to cheer for Jake, I'm just waiting for him to give me a reason. You can be as optimistic as you like but I'll continue to be a realist. I'm not holding onto a hope and a prayer. I agree he has talent, until it translates it's meaningless. A lot of guys are talented that don't make any form of a splash in the league. He was a terror in the WJC hahah, you sir are funny.
  17. But Jake being out of shape is a knock against him. I'm sure he will come to camp hungry and want to show what he can do. I just hope he does. He can put all the bashing to rest. I hope for Jake is an effective NHLer, whether a top 6 role or physical bottom 6 guy
  18. From what I've seen there is no reason to believe he will be a top 6 player. Last year he picked up his fitness level and learned the finer points of the game but offensively didn't look good. Does that mean he won't turn into a top 6 player? Absolutely not but I'll have to see him do it before I buy in. It's not my fault I don't feel he's progressed well since being drafted, it's what I've seen. If you've seen a guy that legitimately looks like a top 6 forward I have to question your judgement. It's not opinion it's facts. That doesn't mean he won't light it up on camp, come ready in amazing shape and full of confidence. If he does then people will start to buy into him reaching that potential but until then it is absurd to assume he will be that player. Believe what you see, not what you hear.
  19. I'm not saying they hate the player, I'm using the word in terms of hating on someone. You don't hate everyone you talk badly about. I probably used the wrong word in that situation.
  20. You're right, it's really not complicated though.
  21. People hate on him because he hasn't done anything to deserve a lot of love, he's been a disappointment to this point so what do you expect. I'm saying people would rather be saying how good he's been but he hasn't given anyone a reason. I hope he becomes a top 6 forward but assuming he will is absurd at this point. All signs don't point to that. I like your optimism though, it's just that I'm a realist.
  22. How do you not understand what Forsberg is saying, they all aren't that equal in reality, they will all have varied success and failures in their careers and Bennings job is to pick the player that will be the best player available when we pick. It's a simple statement that a couple of you are not getting at all
