But where is the line? What constitutes as a "danger"? People with the flu? People with a cold? Those who tested positive for HIV? Should be need to scan their health card before entering any premises in the future? Have some sort of Social Score system and restrict people accordingly? The guy definitely got the trouble he was searching for, but this is starting to seem like just the beginning of more escalation. Don't get me wrong, as a father of a former micro-preemie baby and as someone who regularly goes to (and hoping to move to) Japan.... I've been wearing masks and sanitizing everything way before the coronavirus was engineered in a Chinese lab.... but I'm frightened on how far people will take the "for the greater good" now, in 6 months time, in 5 years time. It's been a while, but I used to work for Genesis (Molson Indy, raves, etc) and Paladin, they specifically told me to not get too involved in such situation. No point putting your life/health at risk for a minimum wage job. Let the police handle the more problematic cases. Don't bother to carrying handcuffs or zip-ties unless you're willing to defend your actions in court and be potentially liable. IIRC, unless the employees are also using citizens arrest, they could be charged with unlawful detainment.

I'm not condoning what that guy did... but does seem a bit over-the-top. Imagine if they did the same to a shoplifter... would the perception change?
-
Unless those Canadian Tire employees are using citizen's arrest.... I don't think they should have using handcuffs.... and why do they even have handcuffs to begin with? I worked security before and never once I ever had handcuffs issued. They even specifically instruct employees to just observe, report, and call the police if needed. I never even seen shoplifters ever get "arrested" by store employees before. Most of the time, it's always.... "okay, we're calling the police...." But now employees are enforcing mask usage by force? Not saying that punk was doing anything right, but in any other circumstances people would be horrified that store employees are getting into confrontation with the public and handcuffs are used. Imagine if you were at a McDonalds and after a little scuffle, the cashier behind the counter suddenly pops out with restraints. If the exact same situation happened 2 years ago, everyone would be upset at the store... but now many people are "coronavirus... uh... sure, acceptable..." That is very frightening. Instead of letting the police do the actual policing, people are being vigilantes.

Sometimes I envy teams like the Yankees, the NFL or those top football clubs in Europe... where they just throw money around like Weinmar Republic.

At the beginning of this whole pandemic, there were lots of people saying how the change in people's behaviour is more damaging than the virus itself.... somewhat true. Lots of crazies on both sides of the issues.... I mean when there are Canadian Tire employees handcuffing a person who didn't want to wear a mask, or grocery stores kicking out a shopper who didn't wear a mask due to cancer and asthma... Seems like lots of opportunistic people using "for the greater good" as some carte blanche excuse to do whatever they wouldn't do in any normal circumstances.

[Speculation] Teams Calling on Schmidt and Motte

It would definitely be a "step-back" in terms of the bottom-6, since he's an actual effective player with maybe more upside too. But a 2nd rounder is a pretty return for assets that were essentially free. Whether it's a good move or bad move will be hard to really tell. Is the extra cap space better? Will the loss of Motte affect the locker room? Will the extra roster space push internal competition? Will the replacement players be as effective? Hard to predict the butterfly effect. -

It depends on what the return is. If the Canucks somehow is able to snag a 2nd rounder.... then that pick becomes a useful asset. Not just in terms of using the pick, but potentially packaging it to unload some bad contract. If you zoom out, this is just a longer-termed rental -> trade for picks play. In 17/18, the Canucks signed Thomas Vanek as a UFA, traded him for Jussi Jokinen and Tyler Motte.... now they can potentially trade Motte for a 2nd. Pretty much the Canucks getting a 2nd rounder for free. -
Should be reason enough for him to stay... GMJB will definitely pay him well, lol.

People sometimes forget, but Gaudette was an elite college player. Different division, but his college stats were better than Boeser's. AG really need to get bigger. He's the same height as Brock, but he's 40 pounds less. Not saying he needs to be as buff, but if Adam is able to tack on an extra 25lbs of muscle and reaches 6'1 195lbs.... he may be a force on the ice.

Something to point out.... Meghan has problem with her own family and now have a problem with Harry's family. Harry never had a problem with his own family until relatively recently. If everyone is having a problem with you, sometimes you may be the problem.

The NASDAQ did take a bit of a pounding lately. Plus every time there's a new stimulus package, you always wonder if the bubble will finally burst. That hyperinflation will finally hit the USD, will precious metals and natural resources finally skyrocket, investors thinking of cashing out of the markets, repeat of the sub-prime mortgage crisis, etc. -

I feel exactly the same. It's like everything I pick goes down nowadays. The days I wait on the sidelines, it goes a bit up. Then I re-enter and down it goes again... -
I enjoyed mostly Donny and the Moj. Lots of stories of Vancouver that was before my time.

What the heck are you on?

I think Kyle Wellwood and Victor Oreskovich are financial advisors. Lee Sweatt was a banker at Morgan Stanley or something.

Well.... the economic theories are way older than me. There are uploaded videos talking about the Depression and stuff related to it back during the 50's and thereafter.... about what economic regulations were or weren't in place and what was done or shouldn't have been done. Just your own political opinion will make you believe in one more than another.
-
The problem is that teachers may have their own political biases that may affect what they teach. I remember in elementary school learning about the Depression and stuff, my teacher emphasized how it was only due to government intervention that the world got out of it. That economies need mass government spending to sustain it. Not saying it's wrong, but anyone who has studied finance, economics, etc... will know that it's more complex than just running the printing press, that there are so many different theories and methods of how to jumpstart and economy, etc. Of course, not entirely blaming the teacher... as teacher are people too. They aren't always the most economically/financially literate people either and most likely my teacher was just using whatever the textbook provided. The best finance related stuff I ever learned in grade school was actually a math class in high school. The guy was actually a banker or financial planner for like 20-30 years previously and just switched to being a teacher as career change (less stressful for him). Teaching all that time value of money, interest, and all the stuff that's relevant to being an adult. Never learned anything useful in other business application courses or business education in high school. Of course, I still failed that math course (I suck at math, which is ironic because I work in finance now).... sometimes students and adults just don't care about finance until it's a mountain to overcome. I mean everyone knows how to be healthy, but there are tons of being just sit around all day eating chip and cookies.... then wonder why later in life they have type-2 diabetes or something. You can only lead a horse to water, you can't force it to drink the water.

Before Canadians start patting themselves on the back.... the US also tested more per capita than Canada. The US is approximately has 106% of the population tested (most likely lots of people being tested multiple times).... whereas Canada is currently at 63%. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:COVID-19_testing_by_country A million different reasons for stark differences in numbers though.

It is still flu season and the cold is still around. That being said, now is not the time to be a hero and to tough things out. Get the very ill one to the hospital or whatever for a quick test.

There are plenty of clips on youtube of pundits saying that leading up to the "Great Recession" was just a small blip, until it wasn't. Not saying there's a crash coming... but anyone can say anything.
