Captained the Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals in 2010, 2-times Stanley Cup Champion with the LA Kings, Olympic Goal medal in 2010, Runner-up for the Selke in 2009-2010 (lost to Datsyuk by 3 votes).... we all hope that Horvat can at least be as close to that.... minus the drug problem and subsequent decline, lol.

He's not a big guy... but I do love his compete level. When he loses the puck, he quickly tries his darnest to get it back. If he gets pinned along the board while battling for the puck, I noticed that he does his best to at least incidentally be in the way or tie up the stick of the opposition who is trying to gain possession.

I don't think he has the or physicality of Ohlund. Perhaps a healthy Salo or Lumme?

I like what I am seeing from Gaunce. He's not noticeable in the sense that he's not creating a lot of errors, making bad plays or anything.... something very good for a 4th liner. Over 50% for faceoffs and does seem to create or get an offensive chance at least once or twice per game. All in all, pretty good development going on with the kid. I just hope WD will be able to trust him and groom him to be one of the "go to" guys for the PK and defensive zone starts. While he's not a guy with an edge, I do hope to see him paste people in the boards a bit more, since he is still a big guy. Hopefully he'll get himself onto the scoresheet more, but that will come once he's more fully adjusted to the NHL.

When I go to a sporting event (mostly Whitecaps games), most of the budget goes to the tickets, thus only enough money for maybe a drink or popcorn. I always wondered why they just don't have tickets really cheap and then entice patrons to buy more food and drinks? As much as I wanted to watch the Lions this year, I'm not really keen on spending $100 on tickets and then 2 beers plus popcorn and maybe a couple of hotdogs.... the total being close to $200. Not good value for the money. Or maybe make the food and drinks really inexpensive. When watching NPB, tickets are about 20-30 bucks.... but you can bring your own food/drinks. IIRC, a cup of beer is also like 4 bucks. Saw lots of people ordering beer. Better to sell 25 beers at @ $4 than just 10 beers at $10, since there will be a greater chance for retaining customers and getting a better environment.

I noticed that he likes to roan a lot in his own zone when defending. That will probably drive the coaches nuts. That being said, he's very big and mobile, so that helps mitigate things.... and opposition probably doesn't really expect things like that. He's unorthodox to say the least.

It's nothing yet. Just wait until Matthew Tkatchuk go scores like 30 goals, with Juolevi still developing. There will be lots of "OMGZ! CoULD haV dr4ted tK4tChuk!!!"

Dmitry is a bit too light for the NHL. I believe he is just currently 5'11 and 170lbs. Hopefully he'll spend an extra 2 years in the AHL and gain another 15-20 pounds.

But with that mentality, they'll never send the kid in. Against good team -> not fair for Tryamkim go up against a top tier team Against average team -> the Canucks will be battling them for playoff spot, so too important to risk sending in Tryamkin Against poor team -> the team really need to capitalize on an easy two-pointer, can't risk using Tryamkin

Odd... we've been told by the Mayor and his Chi-com cronies that real estate prices wasn't driven by foreign buyers. That the foreign tax won't do anything. And to consider otherwise would be akin to racism, lol. -
The 3 top wingmans for the Sedins were Burrows, Samuelsson and Carter. Each of them compliment the Sedins by bringing someone the twins don't do. Burrows.... create off the rush, crashes the net, do the spadework to retrieve the puck. Samuelsson.... shoots from anywhere and everywhere, the right-hand shot Carter.... around the net, willing to shoot, right-hand shot Eriksson needs to stop emulating what the Sedins do, and just simplify his game. Henrik and Daniel doesn't need anyone player to cycle the puck in the corner with, they don't need someone to try to set them up.... they need a trigger man and someone to patrol the blue paint.
-
Can't they just dress him up as the 7th defenseman or 13th forward and just put him in spot duty like the PK? Or just have him on the 4th line for a game.... a Tryamkin - Gaunce - Virtanen crash & bang line... where Brendan Gaunce is the "little guy" at 6'2 220lbs, lol.

I always wonder how so many people have Dragonites. There are like 4 gyms in my neighbourhood... all level 10 with like 8/10 of each gym being 2700+ Dragonites, the odd few being Lapras and Snorelax. My 1400CP guys doesn't stand any chance....

I still think JV should be with the Canucks... only if he's going to get at least 12+ minutes per night and allowed to make mistakes. He's going out there trying to make the safe plays and to be defensively reliable. Not bad.... but he's supposed to a crasher/banger, net front presence with a slick shot.... and so far, he's not really playing to his strength. The Canucks may say they're trying to groom prospects, but considering that WD has already shortened things to just 3 lines this early in the season, I doubt Virtanen will be getting any meaningful minutes. Vancouver lucked out with Bo Horvat and Baertschi.

Edler is the only defenseman on the Canucks with the ability to play at the level of true #1 (Hutton may be able to in a couple of years or so). We have all seen glimpses of it, so we do know it's there somewhere. But a bit of a dichotomy, he can only play at an elite level when it's not expected to be the top guy. Times when Edler excelled: 2007-09 - Salo was the main offensive guy, Ohlund/Mitchell as the main defensive guy 2010-11 - Salo/Ehrhoff the main offensive players, Hamhuis the main defensive guy From 2012 on - Edler the main offensive defenseman -> start to see major cracks in his game, even a quiet 49 points season too.

I guess David Ousted is the real leader of the team. He's pretty much the Roberto Luongo of the Whitecaps, lol. Emotional guy (always trying to pump up the fans for support), one of the best goalkeeper in the league, can outright steal games for you... but his abilities masks major deficiencies on the team.
-
Is Sbisa actually playing well... or just our expectations are so low that as long as he doesn't make any blatant mistakes, it's considered a good game? A couple of times last game (or maybe against Calgary), he had the puck in his own zone and tried to skate away from the forechecker, and he pretty much ran outta room on his own blueline once another forechecker came along. Not saying Tryamkin wouldn't have made the same mistake, but the drop in play will be minimal IMO.

Does the number include pre-sales? I heard that the pre-sale market has remained steady as the non-resident tax doesn't apply to pre-sales units. -
Just remember, Manneh was supposedly highly scouted a couple of years back. Nothing came out from that. Most likely if some EPL team wants to pursue Davies, they're not gonna be offering enough money to make it worthwhile. Unless they're gonna go all out and really gave the Whitecaps a couple of million for some teenager... it'll be better for Vancouver to market Alphonso as a homegrown, next up-and-coming star.
-
Are Juolevi's options for the upcoming season only with the Canucks or with the London Knights? Is he unable to play in the AHL because he was draft out of the CHL? Or can he sent to Utica as he is also a product of Jokerit development program? Any chance he may be sent to play for Jokerit instead of the OHL? IMO, probably better to play in the 2nd best league in the world and against men, rather than against teenagers.

$500,000,000 / 2900 = $172,413.79 -
His goal per minutes of play was like very high. His athleticism was still there and he's very experienced... not sure why the Whitecaps never played him more when he was here and why they didn't re-sign him (although he did retire). Perhaps a reason why the Whitecaps can't land some elite DP is maybe because they are unwilling to come to Vancouver? Thierry Henry never played in BC Place. Beckham rather get suspended than to make the trip North. Kaka didn't play against the Whitecaps in Vancouver either. The artificial turf might me turning star players away from the Caps.... so until Vancouver is able to get an outdoor stadium or some real retractable roof stadium.... maybe this is the best they're able to get.

It's weird saying this.... but I kinda miss Rivero and Earnshaw for the Whitecaps....

I dunno.... wasn't he the guy on the bench messing with the ball in the final minutes during the Amway Championship, forcing the ref to give him a yellow..... probably gave the ref extra incentive to not blow the whistle? Doesn't really scream leadership....
