  1. Actually, it was Brian Burke who lowballed him.... and Kesler publicly sided with Brian Burke. If there's one golden rule with hockey players, you never interfere with other player's contract negotiations.
  2. If the Mexican club defaults in the transfer payments, there's the possibility that Camillo's rights will be returned to the Whitecaps.
  3. I wanna see top echelon vs top echelon. Not a simple numbers game.
  4. My only gripe is that Canada won against a depleted Swedish squad. No Henrik Sedin, no Henrik Zetterberg, no Nicklas Backstrom and no Patrick Berglund.... no centres and no gold.
  5. The great snowstorm that didn't happen....
  6. Still not as bad as the Cody Hodgson thread. He went from a young prospect with leadership qualities to being compared to Yzerman/Linden/etc after his great performance at the WJC, then to pariah after suffering his back injury and subsequent blasting from AV. That divided the CDC with those thinking AV is an idiot and those who believes that Hodgson is a bust will never amount to anything, then propelled to the top of the mountain once he started playing at a Calder level, how he made the Canucks the deepest at centre. After being traded, CoHo became a target for all angst that should be directed to the Canucks organization. Suddenly all those stories about he's a trouble behind the scene came up, even though he has constantly taken the high road and never negative ever arise before. Bo Horvat still has a long way to go, lol.
  7. If they are able to outplay Schroeder. Schroeder has proved equally, if not more than Horvat or Gaunce at the same age, plus now that he's developed within the system and with more experience in the NHL level. While it's easy to just focus on the new shiny toys, it doesn't mean it's automatically better than what you already got previously. Might be easier to just have Horvat or Gaunce as wingers, since it'll be a easier transition to the NHL or with 4th line duties, a la Kesler's rookie year.
  8. I don't understand why he can't just be the 3rd line centre flanked with bigger/grittier players? Having a line consisting of Jensen-Schroeder-Kassian sounds decent IMO. Jensen being a 2-way sniper, Schroeder being defensively reliable playmaker, with a huge power forward on RW. Each of them being quick and fast skaters too. Similar to what the WCE were.
  9. Most powerforwards develop around the age of 23 or younger. Only Bertuzzi and Johan Franzen were late bloomers.
  10. I agree with Bodybuilding.com. Usually it's like 30-50% less than the prices at GNC or Popeye's. Plus there are way more choices and selections. Not saying the local places are bad, once in a while they do have some special deals where it might be worthwhile. Did recently just got like 10 meal replacement/protein bars for like $10 bucks after discount.
  11. Worst case scenario, you can claim it as a capital loss, lol.
  12. I would also agree to go with Optimum Nutrition, it's pretty much the most popular brand out there. Getting it online would be the cheapest way. There's also Muscle Milk which you can also use as a meal replacement if you need. Most protein drinks have like no additional nutritional value with it, but Muscle Milk has quite a bit.
  13. Wasn't there some 12 minute PP like a few seasons ago? It was like the Caps vs some other team. As for this "statement" game, I'd rather if the Canucks targeted their skilled players instead, a tick for tack. Nolan runs Henrik, you have Weise take a run at Doughty. Brown bumps into Lack, you have Kassian to drive the net without stopping. I think Ray Ferraro mentioning that skilled guys always worry when their own goons and "energy" guys take a run at the opposition's top forward, since it used to mean that they'll be targeted the rest of the night. Usually they'll ask their teammate to tone things down a bit afterwards.
  14. I'm not a big fan of fiat money either, but at least the central banks that prints the money out (theoretically) have gold and stuff stored in a vault somewhere.
  15. It's not like he'll be living in a shack in one of those shanty towns. Regardless of where in the world you are, the rich and upper-class parts are always in pristine condition. The ultra-modern, and luxurious chic parts of Mexico is pretty much the same (if not better) than Vancouver.
  16. The problem with bitcoin is that it isn't tangible. Sure you can "carry" it around in your e-wallets or whatever, but unlike stuff like silver, gold or real estate, there isn't really any intrinsic value attached to it. Precious metals/stones has been valuable since the dawn of time and land is land.... but bitcoins... ummm...
  17. My mistake... they Clowe just turned 24 before breaking out and Malone was 23-turning 24 when he broke out. But when they take become NHL regulars, Clowe had 34 points in 58 games, and Malone had 44 points in 77 games. To put some additional perspective, both of those players were 6th and 4th rounders respectively. Kassian went 13th overall.
  18. Almost all powerforward figures it out by at 22-23. Those who don't usually don't amount to anything more than guys like Steve Bernier, Taylor Pyatt, etc. As I've been repeating, the mantra "PF needs time" is more of an excuse than anything factual. Guys who figured it out from age 18-23: Dustin Brown, Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Rick Nash, Jerome Iginla, Evander Kane, Milan Lucic, Jamie Been, James Neal, Ryan Malone, Nathan Horton, Scott Hartnell, Chris Stewart, Ryane Clowe, Shane Doan, etc. Guys who figured it out age 24+: Johan Franzen, Todd Bertuzzi, David Backes, Olli Jokenin..... pretty much slim pickings.... I'm not writing him off completely, but unless Kassian start making strides in the 2nd half (assuming he's not hampered by injuries) or by next season, chances are he'll never be that top-6 forward the Canucks need.
  19. With the exception of Bertuzzi and Franzen (drafted at age 24).... name some other power forwards that suddenly puts it together after age 25? The whole "power fowards" needs time to develop is simply not true. Almost all start being productive at Kassian's age now. All powerforwards already have NHL size, thus most are able to adapt after a few seasons in the NHL. Those unable to adjust simply become "role players", "enforcers" or simply not in the NHL.
  20. Any solutions to tendonitis? I think I might have injured my left elbow like 4 months back. Initially though it was probably just sore muscle around the area but even after a month not working out my arm, it's still painful when I exert a bit of force on it. Just scrubbing my back with a bathing cloth irks it a bit. Would just resting it for another month plus more omega-3, supplements, aspirins be sufficient?
  21. Guys like Milan Lucic was already scoring at around a 0.5PPG pace, on his way to his 30 goal season, etc. Most importantly, he's being very noticeable and making things happen even if he wasn't scoring. Dustin Brown at age 23 was named captain of the LA Kings, scoring 50-60+ points per season and once again, being a very noticeable player on the ice. Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry at age 23 were already instrumental in helping Anaheim to win the Stanley Cup, with Getzlaf being one of the top Powerforward centres in the NHL and Perry scoring 30+ goals. Ryane Clowe started breaking out around Zack's age too. The whole Todd Bertuzzi and Johan Franzen argument/reasoning seems more like an anomaly rather than the norm. Heck, even Steve Bernier was putting up slight better number than Kassian... and even though he's considered somewhat of a bust, at least he can be a role player, something Kassian can't even seem to do well.
  22. That's why I'm switching to running and hitting the slopes for the next few months. Once of those people fail at their New Year Resolutions, then back to the gym, lol.
  23. Actually, Hodgson was great as a defensive player in junior (PK for WJC) and the AHL. Just seems unable to translate that to the NHL so far.
