I don't know if it can make that much impact but I do believe that 75% of all bitcoins are mined in China. While China like to portray itself as being progressive in terms of renewable energy... they're still building coal power plants like they're going out of style. So coal power plants fueling cryptomining... not very eco-friendly.

Anyone actually mining bitcoins or other cryptocurrencies? I was thinking of building myself a day-trading PC... then I started thinking... might has well make it mine crypto at the same time. Also I have a heater running 24/7 as I live on the ground floor of a "Vancouver special".... maybe I should just use the heat generated from mining to heat up the room instead, lol. Make a little money back.

I'm still wondering how they're still trying to get RoaringKitty on market manipulation when he has been laying everything out on Reddit for like over a year. -

Warrants are just the right to purchase a share at a specified price. Most SPACs has their warrants with the right to purchase commons for $11.50 once it reach a certain threshold (X number of days after merger, etc). Should it comes time where you're allowed to redeem the warrants and the price of a share is just $10... your warrants are worthless as why would you want to buy a share at a pre-set price of $11.50 when it's available on the market at $10. On the other hand, if suddenly the common stocks are now sold for $91.50... your warrant has a value of approximately $80 (intrinsic value and other caveats may influence prices). Depending on how much you paid for warrants, it could easily be a great windfall or a very risky bet. For SPAC, the safer option are commons as they generally have a minimal value of $10 (should the SPAC fail, they will return the money). Warrants has no such protection thus you will lose everything. I personally am only investing in SPAC via warrants. I probably got at least 30+ different ones happening. A few homeruns like CCIV and QS, a few with very good returns like BFT and WPF, a few laggards like TREB and AMCI. All in all, SPAC is a really hot market right now... probably going to be a bubble... just no one is really sure if this is the beginning, the middle or the end of a bubble. -
I can completely understand if he doesn't become a physical top-6.... but he still has the tools to be a decent bottom-6 player a la Raffi Torres or even a speedier Steve Bernier. High draft picks that eventually evolved their game to be more crash/bang and buzzing around the net. Not sure why Virtanen can't do the same.

The thing is that LE is never "bad", he's just not worth $6 million. If he was getting paid $3 million or less, the complaints would be minimal.... be what Sutter or Beagle receives in terms of criticism. I never had an issue with LE being in the lineup, since he's already getting paid and not going anywhere, his presence never hurt the team. Considering there aren't really better alternatives on the Canucks, I don't mind him being a regular as a defensive stalwart. I always believe he should be with Pettersson... since they mesh together pretty good and that it feels up someone like Boeser to play with Horvat to bolster the 2nd line.

It would allow players to heal more, allow teams to use more depth or younger players, etc. A main issue would be the fans and corporate sponsors. Imagine if Vancouver suddenly becomes like when star players of the MLS visits Vancouver.... they just don't or opt out of dressing to play. OV, #87, Stamkos suddenly take their days off when there's a Western Canadian road trip, etc. Would piss off many fans who purchased tickets to watch their favourite players.

Being a man among boys. He has NHL size, speed and shot.... unfortunately he doesn't know how to put it all together consistently to be a regular NHLer.

There's a difference between globalization and globalism. The first is just the interconnection of the world's economy, resources, production, etc. No one has been against that since the late 90's when all those folks protesting APEC, G20, etc. For globalism, from how I interpret (others may have differing points of view) is the merging of politics/policies beyond national borders. Sometimes it can work okay like NAFTA. Sometimes it's a double-edge sword like the EU. Sometimes it's a death debt-trap like what China does. The big issue is that terms get tossed around and use improperly that it's hard to have real discussion without one party being attacked as either a slacked-jaw yokel believing in isolationism or some rich champagne socialist being holier-than-thou.

He hasn't been as dynamic as he was during his rookie season.... but then again, teams know how good he is and they're targeting him. Plus, he used to be more aggressive and such... but it can potentially take a toll on your body. In any case... if the team was 7-1 the last stretch of games... the narrative would change.

Gonna live the highlife now. From now on no more McD's... I'm upgrading to Wendy's dollar value menu. -
Unfortunately, it's the culture of hockey (national identity) that promotes sacrificing everything to win. I remember when Kesler broke his finger during the 2007 playoffs, he was partially begging for the trainers to cut it off as healing the finger would takes months whereas a removed finger would be significantly shorter. Had he somehow went through with it, he would have regretted it later in life. Also, how often have fans casually referred to a player as being a "soft", especially if they're European or whatever.... maybe the European system doesn't want players to be destroyed physically after the game? How often is it "Canadian/American pride" when a player throws his body to block a puck, to take a hit to make a play, to tough it out? Not saying European players doesn't do the same too, but it has almost become a cultural identity for Canadians.

I did sell just enough to recoup my initial investments today. Just wish I didn't sell 12000 units when it was $1.60.... -

I'm just hoping it will get a DA... then lots of FOMO will occur, similar to what happened with NKLA. -
I mean when it's blatantly obvious that what people are sprouting are actually harming others... like actually asking for violence, putting others at risks... sure, by all means be a bit more strict on them. When companies can use vague terminologies to justify their actions, that's very dangerous. But sometimes things can just roll downhill if you let it. Using myself as an example, I "preferred" Trump, but some may construe that as I'm a MAGA hat wearing Trump supporter, which may be viewed by some as akin to Fascism... and thus "Bash a Fasc"... but as physical violence is illegal, do the next best thing. Get TD to cancel my bank accounts, have Canaccord to turn away my business, get Mastercard to cancel my credit cards, maybe tell UBC to boot me out, get Dominion Lending to deny my mortgage application, FB to close my social media account, etc... annoying at first, but once the ball start rolling, it'll get to a point where I'll be forced to cash my cheques at MoneyTree, pay everything by cash and using prepaid cellphone plans. Not ideal. That what some people are wishing/promoting. Nothing is technically illegal, but when there are corporations that are more powerful than nations and we all live in a world where government and corporations may collude at times.... sometimes being "cancelled" by a bunch of large corporations in a coordinated effort may just have the same effect as the government doing the same. The limits on powerful companies or whatever... that's a discussion for another day, but the "hounding attack dog" mentality is not good for society.

The idea that people are okay or supportive of "cancel culture" is frightening. I don't care what your opinions are, and I do believe that private companies can do whatever they want legally.... but this intolerance is scary. Currently one side is winning with their soapbox mantra and thus they think everything is perfectly fine. That whoever is getting the short end is getting what they deserve. If the shoe was on the other foot, they would be changing their tunes very quickly. Should the culture changes back to a very religious and conservative society.... I doubt it's any more acceptable people being fired, censored, banned, or whatever due to differing opinions. The biggest issue is the intolerance for differing opinions. I vehemently disagree with many posters on CDC for their opinions regarding politics, firearms, religion, culture, whatever... but I would never ever feel they need to be censored, harassed, or negatively impacted in any way shape or form. Maybe this is partially due to the results of the "participation awards" generation? Too many sore losers and poor winners... not enough, "Congrats, good game. See you again next time". I have no idea how this will unfold in 10-20 years time. Perhaps the accused "White Supremacists" Jared Taylor has the right idea. Just divide the country and let people voluntarily move to live with those they wish to affiliate more with. Maybe you can't get people to get along, but maybe at least make them stay away from each other.

Call me a cynic, but this how I imagine things will unfold.... The company will get lots of attention, then it will ultimately fail. Then racism, bigotry or whatever will be blamed as the causes by Kaepernick. Thus he still keeps his "SJW" creds... meanwhile he would have already cashed out his founder shares for a very generous profit. He won't "go woke, go broke", but the bagholders following the hype-train will. -
[Rumour] Predators interested in Adam Gaudette
Lancaster replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Actually, he doesn't have size or at least the weight part. I mean..... Pettersson, Hughes, and Hoglander are all heavier than Adam Gaudette. Not saying Adam can't fill out, but he really need to gain some weight. He should give Kyle Wellwood a call.
