  1. It stings, but it's also a good sign that he might want to try and win a championship in the NHL one day. Clearly the Sedins had a big impact on him as a player.
  2. Wow hope he recovers fast. It would be a shame if he couldnt go to team Canada try outs at least
  3. He was firing shots today. A few clappers on the pp. Short side post off the break and a sharp angle shot that trickled through the goalie and went just wide. Decent game for the kid against a good team
  4. Will we get our weekly Pettersson highlights today? Game starts at 10am Would love to see him score off the cycle with good stick work and a hard shot.
  5. Are we seeing peak Pouliot right now or is there another gear for this guy? The way he has been playing is showing me he has top 4 upside. All it will take is a little more consistency and confidence. After that a few of his clappers might go in and hopefully minimal mistakes in his own end. One of the problems with having Tanev is he makes it look so easy to be a really good defender in your own zone. If Pouliot can get close to that I woukd be very happy. Expect this guy to move forward with our team long term
  6. Will Goldy get a look vs NYI? I would like to see him in a game like that personally. Has anyone been watching him regularly outside of highlights? Would like to see a shift by shift if possible on him
  7. I recall Pettersson's SEAL adjusted scoring was top in the draft class. Depending on how well the metric works it could be a good indicator of future success in prospects. At least with Pettersson it seems to be on point. Thanks for the info
  8. NHLe is kind of useless then in this case if it isnt helping predict what a prospects contribution will be once they make the NHL. I dont really want to know what Pettersson would be scoring in the NHL this year because he wont be in the NHL this year. Now if we can forecast what his progress should be next year based on this year then I wanna know. For example if we could say the first year after a prospect comes to the NHL from SHL they score 50% of their SHL production, but by year 3 they reach 100%. Then I have something to hang my hat on.
  9. Ideally I would like to see Goldobin play with Vanek and Gagner or Granlund. Vanek is untradable to me at this point hes a top 6 scorer and literally our powerplay coach.
  10. I would have to say that the NHLe for the SHL is a little closer to 0.70 at the moment. At least with 19-20 year old players that would seem to be a better number. The older they get the lower the translation, the younger the higher it is. Rasmus Dahlin for example would only project as a 22 point D man with the 0.58 NHLe. Nylander would have projected as a 15 point guy in his draft year, and 45 point guy in his D+1. William Karlsson projected as a 26 point player at age 20 in the SHL and now looks like he could score 50 points this year. Elias Lindholm in his u19 (Draft) SHL season had 30/48, you would need a 0.75 NHLe to get to his NHL numbers with Carolina. In fact Lindholm and Nylander have performed at almost identical rates in the NHL as the SHL. Their individual NHLe is 90% or better. William Karlsson has a SHL point production of 0.63 which would be 50 points in the NHL. He's on pace for 78 points this year and his PDO is only 99.4. Kevin Fiala is another example, currently scoring at a 0.62 point per game clip in the NHL, and in the SHL he scored at 0.68 It's getting to the point where I might even say u19 SHL players have a 1:1 NHLe Since Pettersson just turned 19 he is in theory going to be able to produce at a similar rate in the NHL to the SHL this season. Forsberg did it, Backstrom, Sedins, Naslund, and many more top players.
  11. Jonah is looking like BPA at pick 55 last year. Can't argue with getting the BPA at your pick position. Heponiemi is the only guy who I would have considered over Lind at this point. His season is top 10 all time in the WHL. 2.59 points per game is insane for a u19 player
  12. The question is really where can he go from here in the SHL? Is there room to improve offensively or is the rest about defense and the little details.
  13. Gadj has good details to his game, Canada doesn't have a ton of high quality LW's either. He clearly helps the powerplay, so there should be a spot for him. Coaches want players who they know what they'll get out of on a nightly basis, it makes their job easier. Gadjovich is someone you can slot in on any line to work down low, create some space, and screen the goalie. Name another prospective player who does that and scored 40+ goals last year. It's not easy
  14. Personally when I watch Pettersson play the only things he needs to do to transition to North American hockey are move the puck quicker or move his feet more, and get stronger in board battles. The Pittsburgh game is a perfect example of how Baertschi has become a good NHL player, after being a bit small and needing strength. He uses his body and core strength to protect the puck and move it quickly. He never holds the puck for too long, and always knows what he is trying to do with it. This allows him to avoid the big hits, and be effective along the boards despite being at a physical disadvantage is board battles. He didn't have that ability at the start of his career. In the same way Pettersson has the hockey sense that will allow him to move the puck quickly, but in order to get the puck he needs speed, core strength, and then the elusive skating ability we see Brock use to create time and space for him self. Boeser is one of the best players we have had in a long time that can go from North South to East West effectively because people have to respect his ability to shoot from anywhere. The way he loads up, and freezes D men before cutting to the middle is so dynamic and unpredictable. Ideally Pettersson would learn how to do that as well.
  15. Might be time to leave before things get too out of hand.
  16. Its funnt that Pettersson is the new bench mark of good prospect in Europe and Boeser was for the NCAA. I expect Dahlen will also score around .5 to .6 points per game in the SHL once he moves there and we wilp be all hom hum about it haha. Over 1 point per game in a pro league and over 2 points per game in a junior league are the standard somehow. Yet there are so few guys who score that much.
  17. For a 6th round pick he looks like he has bottom 6 NHL potential. If he can be an NHL player someday it would be a big win. Most of our 6th and 7th rounders have been uninspiring lately. Palmu is the other exception
  18. Vaxjo wins in OT on a delayed penalty call, Pettersson was not on the ice.
  19. Just thinking. What if Pettersson actually grows a little and puts on strength like an average prospect. He could end up like Brandon Sutter size, 6'3 190-195. Imagine Brandon Sutter with elite puck skills, and play making ability. That would be alright.
  20. Dahlen Pettersson Lind could be a good line some day.
  21. Only game we lost on the road was the one where our PK was bad. Guddy helps keep shots to the outside for the most part. He's going to be a polarizing player in this market regardless. Too much information is available for there to be a consensus opinion on him. We need new stats for players like him though, like net clears, rebound controls or clears, stick checks on scoring chances, amount of time the puck is in the high danger zone. Defensive stats, right now it's all offense, and transition. Strange note, he has 1 career shoot out attempt. Odd choice no?
  22. Really hope he makes the WJC this year. Would be great having 2-3 players on team Canada.
  23. Stellar numbers to start the year. He has always had hot streaks. Will be interesting to see his consistency this season and how many games he plays well or struggles with in a row. Have a good feeling about him though
