  1. I want to hear Bennings thoughts on this guy. I wonder what they saw that made him more desirable than a smaller puck mover.
  2. Didn't he play at the WJC this year? I think I watched a few Swedish games, and didn't notice him. It's more of a bunt than a home run swing. that's really my only issue
  3. No bones about it this was a homerun swing pick. I like that.
  4. 2 rolls of the dice are better than 1. Just don't pick safe players. It's not worth it that late.
  5. Can't argue with players who have elite skating, smarts, and compete. Puck skills are developed more thoroughly in the NCAA than any other league in my opinion. His decision making will be on full display as HArvard plays a very structured game.
  6. still has time to grow. I like the pick. Let him marinate in the NCAA
  7. People need to stop reading the crappy draft publications. that give players rankings out of 5 or 10 and put a random ceiling on them. It's free for a reason, a lot of the time sites like the hockey writers can't even get names or stats right. Yes pettersson is a riskier pick than Glass or Vilardi, but if he fills out in size to 6'2 185 to 190. He won't bust, he is too skilled for that. Pettersson has better hands and a better shot than Glass already and he's a lot lighter.
  8. Good value pick again! Looking like we could have 4 NHLers already. hard to argue with a draft eligable mem cup winner. I expect he will play Goalie for Team Canada soon too in the WJC. Still 2 years of eligibility.
  9. Clearly can play with skill which is what you want on the wings
  10. Intangibles are off the charts. He competes really hard. No doubt there.
  11. The knock on him is his passing. Kind of like Virtanen without the elite skating. I still think it's a terrific pick though. Very high ceiling, and can still make it as a grinder
  12. Canucks wanted a forward, glad they went with Lind, very projectable skill set and frame.
  13. Good pick, projects as a middle 6 player who can put up 40 points a season. That's good value in my opinion.
  14. Nikita is now making JB second guess drafting Russian players which sucks.
  15. As soon as Benning dodged the Pettersson question in the interview I knew he was the guy. GM's don't talk glowingly about the players they are planning to pick beforehand. The same thing happened last year too with Juolevi. Benning said he'll be a second pairing guy, and that Sergachev would be a top pair guy lol. I'm happy with the pick. People don't get to see players from Europe that much, but remember this guy had the most productive SEAL adjusted scoring season of all draft eligible players. He did that playing at 165 using his mind. HIS MIND!
  16. I would rather pick 7 and 21 than 5 and 33. I would even throw in an extra prospect or something if New York needs it.
  17. I think if Glass is there we take him. If not probably go with Pettersson or Makar. At least one of those 3 will be available though. The real question is, can we move back to the Rangers pick at 7 and pick up an asset? I hope they covet Vilardi or one of the D that could be available.
  18. For me its not if he will figure it out. I believe Jake will be an NHL player for long time. The question is will he figure it out before he needs waivers? Its interesting how some money and some freedom can have such a negative impact on certain people. I dont think Jake is at that point, just at a cross roads where he needs to choose what he wants to prioritize over the next 2 years. I really hope he doesnt go down the same path as Kassian. He seems to smart to do that. The Canucks put a bet on Virtanen. Now we find out if Jake is ready to bet on himself.
  19. Its going to be interesting. I think Dallas is waiting to see what D will be available from Vegas before moving the 3rd pick. Seeing as a lot of D are probably gping to be moved after the expansion draft I doubt we will get good value for Tanev. I would be more inclined to move him next year at the trade deadline when fewer defensive players are available. I do think there is a deal with Vegas to move down to 7 or 15 if they really covet a player who is available at 5.
