  1. It has always felt like Boucher is just a good summer of skating work away from an NHL job. Would love to see him actually make it.
  2. Can we call him the Orca? Vasily "The Orca" Podkolzin Then we can have the Ox, the Alien, and the Orca. Could be an animated show.
  3. Stoked for him, just found out I know a couple people who know him. Always nice to see a friend of a friend doing well anywhere, let alone the NHL. Would be stoked if he came to play at home someday.
  4. Reminds me of the Jasek pick. Even if your just getting an above average AHL it's a good pick. Upside is there if he can put it all together.
  5. The cool thing about Podkolzin as a prospect is he already plays a pro style game. The way he competes, and works hard in all areas on the ice makes him an easy fit for the NHL when he gets here. The exciting part is that because those things are pretty well ingrained already he can work on his skill and skating. If those parts develop well in the next 2 years he could be a reeeeal handful. I think he will bring a lot of excitement to the rink with his style of play too. I am imagining his first game, and trying to go end to end through guys like Bure did.
  6. I saw that Pod had a roughly 80% controlled entries in the VHL and his team controlled about 80% of scoring chances while he was on the ice. THAT IS INSANE. Optimistically speaking I think him and Petey are going to be like Datsyuk and Zetterberg to some extent.
  7. Is it just me or does Dorofeyev play a lot like Petey? Not sure how he dropped in Bob's rankings. Easily a first rounder for me.
  8. The headline from the article is taken out of context. 2 separate quotes, put together to make it seem like 1. Not a transparent or accurate representation in my opinion. First quote: "There are a lot of defenseman that we like" That is talking about the top 25 or so players Benning mentioned are available this year. Second quote: "If that guy is there at 10 we'll take him" He's talking about Bowen Byram. From what I recall they were discussing that they have 1 d man in the top 10 and if he is there they will take him.
  9. He grew late so, his size and strength is pretty new. That's a pretty easy skill to develop
  10. I saw someone compare Newhook to Brayden Point, watched some highlights of both, and now I want us to pick him. Even trading down a couple spots. Boldy is really good though. People need to understand his skillset is exactly what would fit with Petey.
  11. Ashmazing haha. I mean they must have known for some time now about this mass. We had a robot on mars. Would be a pretty large omission otherwise lol. Hopefully we get some more details, but who's to say.
  12. I think we are going to see Peyton Krebs be the pick. If not him then Trevor Zegras
  13. William Lockwood from the Forest of Nottingham. Enemy of the Sheriff, and a party to Quintin Hughes also known as The Rover of the Woods.
  14. The one thing that I see from Hughes right now is that he is trying to do a little too much. I think that will settle down with a few more games this season, but it's one way that young players who move up to the NHL have to adjust to. He's already done it with the World Champs team this year, so he can adjust. Right now he's pushing the limits though trying to figure out how aggressive he can be at this level. Trent Cull said it recently in an interview about MacEwen. Instead of trying to make 20 amazing plays every game, make 5 solid plays and you will get noticed in the right way. Pettersson is pretty good at this right now. When there is a play to be made he makes it, but he also knows when to simplify his game. I will be looking for that from Hughes as the season moves along here.
  15. Here's the link for the game that was posted above as a picture.
  16. This is the one pick last year that seemed like a real JB pick based on the video. He said "I think he's gonna play, if not we could use him in Utica." I wish they had gone BPA instead here with someone like Kirill Maksimov, or Jakub Galvas.
  17. I think it's been said, but someone who compares to Pettersson in the NHL right now as a young player is Sebastian Aho. They both play a similar skill game, with Aho being a little more direct. Neither are real burners on the ice, but are above average in skating. Both have elite hands, and a good variety of shots in their arsenal. Aho had 49 points in his rookie year, after a big year in Liiga and a solid World Championship with Finland. Pettersson could follow suit.
  18. Thoughts on his game today for Sweden vs Finland
  19. It looks like he's ready for the AHL in my opinion. Had a good year in Finland learning the pro game, and getting good opportunity. Now he can come back to NA and help the Comets dominate. Be nice to see him and Gadjovich reunited on a line.
  20. Elias Pettersson is like the better version of Clayton Keller. What an incredible season he's had. SO fun to watch The one play from today where he stepped around his guy from the corner boards and set up a teammate in the slot for a chance was just magic. He must have had 7 or 8 shot assists and half of them into the high danger area of the ice. Not to mention 2 goals and two shots from in tight too. I'm actually excited for the WC this year. Horvat Pettersson Hopefully Juolevi Hopefully
  21. I think there is a distinct possibility that Juolevi is only scratching the surface of his ability. He seems able to produce at a moderate to highend rate while still having his coaches and most of CDC say he looks disinterested at times and isn't in great shape. If he is able to really focus and train hard I think we could see his game jump up to an Ekman Larsson like level. I'm actually really excited to see him try and reach his ceiling under Green. He's going to get pushed hard, and will likely need some adjustment time similar to Hutton this year. For Juolevi, in the end we will either get a true high skill pro D man who is a #2, or a guy who is an above average puck mover, but lacks consistency as a 4. He has that extra gear for big stages, and if he can bring that out consistently we could see some serious progress.
  22. I just want him to win something. He came 2nd twice this year already in the WJC and CHL.
