My opinion cops in Calgary shouldn't worry about a kid playing pond hockey and tasing him maybe don't power trip maybe do your job and arrest drug dealers and gang members what is wrong with them its like no one has any conflict reduction training. Descalation wasn't hard to do being first person on scene at fight at bars usually it was easy to end that situation.

but they do, @canuktravella they have a huge latitude to do things like this, and even if they do step over the line you are the one who's gong to end up hurt or worse. The end point of almost all these things is some court case 5 or 6 years down the line where an officer maybe gets reprimanded. You're still dead.
Just step down, don't give them the chance by arguing.

police simply escalate situations by being present, so I’m not surprised this is how it happened. @Jimmy McGill police are essentially the mayor’s private army. But they shouldn’t act like this, nor should they have a monopoly on acting like this.
I’m also not surprised that this feels like this is getting more coverage than the unjust deaths of Ejaz Choudry, Eishia Hudson, D’Andre Campbell, Abdirahman Abdi or the police brutality towards Chief Allan Adam or Dafonte Miller.
