[PGT] Pittsburgh Penguins at Vancouver Canucks | Dec. 04, 2021

There we go maybe a mix of both a high draft elite player, great coach that worked well with the team and top players wanting to sit on a beach during the week and sip margaritas. -
What exactly is it the Horvat brings to the table? For the amount of money he is charging and is going to want next contract? He can win face-offs. He doesn’t forecheck hard, he throws hits like my son does in PeeWee. He scores sometimes. He's streaky even in his best years. He plays a good two way game. D zone faceoffs. He doesn’t kill penalties. I think he is somewhat overrated. Maybe he needs to be moved to the PK permanently. Because he is good defensively.

Yes legit elite #1 Centre. And a top 4 shutdown D that can eat tough minutes. Let oel and hughes play offensively. Maybe one more top 4 D on top of that. might be tough to do considering the money kids demand nowadays if they score a couple goals in the first few years of their careers. Hope the cap goes up. Or we get some good picks.

Ya thats one of the issues. But still either way it had to happen, it didn’t and they just prolonged the pain. Since 2013 this team has not had a purpose or true plan. Retooling on the fly was scoffed at and ridiculed at the time. And look at where the team is now. I loved the Sedins and the era. Classy guys and great people. The team needs leaders starting from the top down. Pres-GM-HC-Assistnts. And now in the dressing room. Management and Coaches need to be “retooled” whatever the term means, and then they can take stock from there and fix whats going on on the ice. Maybe tweaks or minor changes, but track record shows we need true legit elite players to win cups. -

I don’t think you are understanding what i am saying. Pittsburg was a bottom feeder for years and got top draft picks and when those players were in their primes they won cups, you can say the same about Chicago, Tampa, Carolina. Also bring into the equation, sunbelt teams that attract quality players in a less stress environment. Or teams with history and players want to play there to win (Detroit) https://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/2016/1/3/10705226/from-picks-to-rings-high-draft-picks-on-stanley-cup-winners Lets go back and look at the teams. 2021 - Tampa Bay (High draft picks) 2020 - Tampa Bay (High draft picks) 2019 - St Louis 2018 - Washington (High draft picks) 2017 - Pittsburg (High draft picks) 2016 - Pittsburg (High draft picks) 2015 - Chicago (High draft picks) 2014 - LA 2013 - Chicago (High draft picks) 2012 - LA 2011 - Boston 2010 - Chicago (High draft picks) 2009 - Pittsburg (High draft picks) 2008 - Detroit 2007 - Anaheim 2006 - Carolina (High draft picks) 2005 - Lockout 2004 - Tampa Bay (High draft picks) 2003 - NJD (Management/coaching/ Brodeur) 2002 - Detroit (Dynasty good management/coaching) 2001 - Colorado (Quebec high draft picks) 12 of the last 20 cup winners were awful teams who drafted top 6 in the draft to go on to build cup winners. In 2011 Vancouver made a cup run on a team based on the #2 and #3 draft picks. They had many good years but ultimately didn’t win the cup and were beat out by Chicago many times and other eventual cup winners (LA, Boston). The fan base is tired of middle of the pack. The more average seasons we have the more average players we get in the draft. -

There was a window between 2009 and 2013. They chased it and failed. The writing was on the wall that the team built was declining rapidly, and management instead of rebuilding decided to “retool”… if they had rebuilt who knows maybe the Sedins would have had another shot at a deep playoff run before they retired. We will never know now. Either way the team and the managment works for the fans who pay the salaries, no one owed the sedins anything. They made big bucks during their tenure and have the keys to the city now. -

If benning would have bit the bullet 8 years ago and rebuilt. Maybe we would have some top 5 picks in our stable and would have a better team right now. Greed and incompetence has thwarted a true rebuild of this team and we are looking at the consequences of that right now on the ice… -

So basically you neglected to post when the teams won the cups and with how many top picks they had… And how miserable of teams they were for years before they won. In fact teams that won multiple cups (other than Detroit and their drafting wizardry) won those cups with top 3 picks in the lineup in those players primes. In fact it was so successful that the NHL had to put in the “Edmonton” draft lottery rules due to Toronto and Edmonton intentionally tanking for top players. Now look at those two teams. They are tearing it up and one or both may win a cup -

Thing is though. We shouldn’t turn it around. You can’t win in this league with $&!# management and coaching. You also can’t win without drafting top 3 players. Look at the last 20 cup winners. How many of those teams tanked hard for top players? -

We should have seen the writing on the wall when Malholtra left for the laffs. No one cares about the Canucks right now. And no one is loyal… what are the reasons? Is Benning just straight up that terrible at management? Green at coaching? The water stinks and there is something in it. -

Holy crap. Quit worshiping the millionaires. They get paid millions. Im sure they are fine. -
After having reflected on this issue. I should say I have no clue why Pettersson or McDavid among other choose to be public about their donations. So I am wrong in assuming and giving judgment (which isn’t mine to give) I was always taught that donating should be anonymous so as to not for be for any personal gain. But having said that as others have mentioned. The organization may have wanted the person to publicly release the info for publicity.

&^@# sign me up for a photo shoot I donated $500 sorry it's classless and I don’t like it. I prefer players on the team I cheer for to be classy. If you don’t like my opinion, doesn’t bother me at all. I agree donations and generosity is one of the best things in life, but it should be done from a place of generosity and not a tit for tat. Look what I did I’m a great person.
