When you look at the protest it is obvious that the ones that we hear about are but a tiny sample of the problems that everyday people now to go through. For every story we hear about there are millions we don't and that's what bothers me about this. The outrage is selective, especially when there is media concerned. If the story can sell clicks then they will do everything they can to shove it down your throats. If you going to expose one group then expose all groups. Getting kicked in the butt by your coach, how many boss from hell stories have we heard in our normal lives that social justice fails to fight for?
-
To me it seems like there is a double standard. If you are somewhat famous, known, or working for the entertainment industry then the social justice mob will stand behind you. If you are and average joe, people could care less. The day when the average person can call out people and have the mob back them up then I might be more inclined to be less suspicious of the motives.

Knowing the type of player Avery was and the things he has said himself in interviews, you can kinda get a sense of the kind of person he is. It's ok for him to refer to women as sloppy seconds but can't take a kick in the butt from a coach? I find that highly unlikely. There isn't really a time limit on when people can talk about thier lives but why are we so selective on what to judge. As I have said on another topic. As an example, I have stated that I have been called racist names when I was working in Metrotown by a manager in a fastfood restaurant. Why is no one running up to help me call that guy out?
-
Because Avery could have said something a long time ago just like Sopel did but he did not. He waited until everyone was talking about Peters and Babcock before he jumped in. He is not doing this to raise awareness nor talk about how it really affected him. He is doing it because he needs to be relevant.

THIS HOCKEY WITCH HUNT HAS TO STOP!

Not sure what he would have thought about my music, I was rocking Nirvana and Metallica hard in those days. I'd put on Will Smith every now and then cause you know..."Parents Just Don't Understand." sometimes. -
THIS HOCKEY WITCH HUNT HAS TO STOP!

About 20 years ago, I was working at the Metrotown food court and the manager at a fast food restaurant called me a racist name. I want him found and fired from whatever job he is doing now. It's only fair. He hurt my feelings and I still have nightmares about it. -

After Crawford kicked Avery's butt, Brodeur return the favor and hook him up with the head coaching gig -
So we traded Burrows for Dahlen who now turned out to be Karlsson. Knowing what we got for Burrows now. Would you rather have kept him him?

I grew up in a different world than a lot of the younger people have so I think things a little different. A lot of young people grew up in the era where it's wrong to hit your kids and to let them grow up how they see fit. I respect that but for me, I got my but whopped by my parents if I did anything wrong. Nowadays, that's called abuse. Thank god I grew up in my days cause if I grew up nowadays, I would probably not be as well off knowing my own personality of when I was young. I look back now and I think I probably needed that kick in the butt or I would have skipped doing a lot of stuff that benefits me now. On top of that, I developed tougher skin to deal with the real world when I grew up. Sometimes psychological pressure is needed to achieve more. Maybe I am too old but to me, what a lot of what people call abuse, or wrong, I categorize it as "stuff happens" deal with it. Crawford, Sopel and Avery came up around my time. It wasn't so politically correct as it is now. Watch Sopel on the ice or Avery on the ice and tell me then a kick in the butt or the things Sopel said Crawford did can come close to what they did to other players on the ice. The way Avery played and offended others on and off the ice and to get offended off a Crawford kick? or Sopel and the way he played? I'm sorry you can disagree with me all you want but I hate people who can give it but can't take it.

Question: As I watched the Ring of Honor celebrations and remembering all the highlights as if they were yesterday then realizing that most of those highlights happened almost a decade ago. Does that mean I'm getting old?

If Benning can get Domi for Virtanen, then he's gotta be GM of the year.
-
If we are going to do that, can we ask Tryamkin what happened with Willie?

Proposal: Hire the Sedins for Player Development
smokes replied to smokes's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Well for one, they were a lot more successful than Manny was. Can help with the powerplay. Show what to do in terms of fitness etc. How to stay effective from game 60-82. Henrik hasn't got injured much, there's gotta be something he can teach. -
Such a classy guy. Heard he's an assistant AHL coach. Would love to see him back on the Canucks or Utica on that capacity.
-
Bo Horvat grew up out of learning from the Sedins and look how much that helped him. Boeser only played a little bit, Petey never has and Quinn even less. Would love to have the Sedins be in practice with the players and give little pointers here and there. Especially in the fitness area. Think it would do a lot of good for the young players.

If there is not sports then what do you expect people who don't know each other talk about in a bar?
-
Things that crosses the line nowadays is far from crossing the line ten years ago. If people are going to judge and jury this then do so with people now and not ten years ago. Can you imagine if everyone who got impacted by someone else negatively from ten years ago till now coming out and telling their stories so everyone can judge? The internet would crash.
-
This is over ten years ago and things that were accepted back then is different than what is accepted now. Back in my day a kick in the butt from a coach or a lashing from coach, teacher or a boss wasn't such a big deal. We dealt with it and moved on. It's different nowadays where when people get their feelings hurt, they need to go see a psychiatrist.
