I have read my Chinese history, but just because the Chinese has that history doesn't give Canadians the right to criticize. How can you throw rocks when you live in a glass house. To this day, Canada is still sticking it to the Native Indians. I don't see anyone talking about that. All countries have a history that they are not proud of but that doesn't mean it is still like that. Also if you google Mao, then you would notice that he has long died and that his position has been studied in China about the things he did wrong and the things he did right so further generations don't make that same mistake. China has made a lot of progress but the problem is that people don't see it because most people are being conditioned to hate them. Also yes there are millions and millions of Chinese leaving China to go to other countries, but that has more to do with the fact that there are so many people in this country. Also you should google the amount of Chinese people who return to China after arriving in non Chinese welcoming countries like Canada and the US. Most of the time, they get to these countries for a couple of years, the novelty wears off and they are rushing to return. Thus the amount of empty Chinese owned properties in Canada.

Seattle Expansion Draft - Who do the Canucks protect?
smokes replied to lukchin's topic in Canucks Talk
Would Boeser and EP even need to take up a protected spot considering if this happened in two years since they would only be on their third and fourth year? -
How can you say that? Do you know how many Chinese people died just building that railroad? Also at the end of building the railroad, most of the workers did not even get paid. Do you even understand the amount of families that were shattered because of the head tax? Hundreds of thousands were destroyed. Then let's look at when the Canadian government threw many Chinese people in concentration camps with the Japanese and left them there for years. Everything they owned got confiscated and taken away. It's not to the same level to you because it did not impact you and your people. But with all due respect, please do not diminish the impact it had on our people. I have been in China for a few years now and I have travelled to the places people talk about, and from my own eyes, I can say it is not as bad as many people talk about. No one talks about the muslim communities that are well off because people only want to hear about the bad stuff. There is a thriving Canadian presence here as well which I happen to be a part of, with the amount of Canadians that have actually been to China and back to Canada, how many of those do you hear say many bad things about it once they've been there. The story that millions of citizens are going missing or being murdered by the government...seriously...MILLIONS?...That's a genocide right there, if that was seriously happening right now, the whole world, all news outlets, everything would be put on hold and everyone in the world would be talking about it. No matter how powerful a government is, it is damn near impossible to do that in such a scale without more storyies and pictures and all of that leaking out. Not in this day and age. If that is really happening, this whole Trump reality show...no one would care. The terrorist groups would be decrying this and posting stuff all over the internet if that story was true.

In Canada, it depends on your skin color and where you are on the social ladder. Look at the amount of missing women on Main and Hastings that still have not been found because people don't care. Many Natives are still fighting to keep the reserves that the government gave them in the first place. What bugs me is that when anything about China comes up everyone starts talking about it's human rights record. I don't hear about Canadians complain about the human rights abuses in the US. Things like there are more people locked up in the US than any other countries, that there are kids locked up in adult jails. If Canadians are going to talk about China's human rights record in this situation then it is only fair to drag the US's in with it.
-
Or the US tear gassing migrants, splitting up children and family and Canada pretending they don't see it.
-
Exactly, it is as ridiculous as a Canada criticizing other's records without considering what they did to the Native Indians or to the Chinese who came to build the railroad and instituting the head tax or putting anyone who looks like a Japanese in concentration camps in the past.

I have Goldy-Horvat-Virtanen in my NHL 19 line and they are killing it.

What sucks is that this would not even be a topic if there was any other American president but with this lunatic at the helm I fear that WW3 might actually happen. If Trump actually goes ahead with the threat of pulling out of the nuclear agreement with Russia then it feels like war is going to be inevitable. The thing though is that it almost seems like Trump is the one looking for a war. He's fighting with everyone, allies alike and causing major headaches for others for no apparent reason. This is like a bad episode of "Pinky and the Brain" except the Brain is Trump (they look alike) and his diabolical plan to rule the world is starting to unfold.

I think this is great, the Calder race is going to be a hard fought trophy this year. I see the race as between Tkachuk, Dahlin and Pettersson. All three are studs so it's going to be great competition. I'm just giddy that we have a horse in the race.

I am truly thankful that I am not a young person right now. I look on the streets and people are like walking zombies glued to thier phones. I see families in restaurants who don't talk to each other because instead they are more interested in what's going on in thier phones. I see social media is like crack to some people. Do we really need to share so much of ourselves to the world? Whatever happened to privacy? People consistantly get their lives ruined because they say something stupid on the internet yet other people continue to say stupid stuff on the internet even though they know that could happen to them. I hear children calling their parents by their first names and it being tolerated, my mom would have taken me out of this world if that ever happened to me and I thank god I had that discipline as a child. Oh man, I could go all night. I'd say life is good cause I stay away from the major social media wormholes and focus on what's real.

If he gets to Vancouver, I'm sure he can find a way to get baked.

Maybe it's a minor injury that they want to make sure doesn't become a nagging injury.

I don't understand why he hasn't been called up yet.

The Canucks need new specialists

One Edler is a calming influence and two he makes those plays that other Canucks D don't that you might not see because it's too subtle and three having a fellow countryman barking out stuff in Swedish that other players don't understand helps a lot.
-
EP is now facing the toughest other teams have to offer with a depleted line up, I think any player would have trouble under those circumstances let alone a 20 year old. Give him time, he'll fight through it.
-
Gaudette only because I have pretty much written off Gaunce.
-
EP reminds me a lot of Yzerman in how he could do everything.
-
Hischier 4 + Patrck 5 + Heiskanen 2 = 11 goals < Pettersson 12 goals
-
In his rookie year to boot,
-
Good goal, hopefully can get him going again. Did anyone else noticed that he basically runs the power plays. The goal that he got you can see him communicating and controlling the rest of the PP. I think we're going to see another run of points from him.

Pettersson misses Boeser.

I don't often hear someone being compared to someone younger.

(Discussion) Sign Duchene 7yrs/49m, yay or nay?

I'd rather keep some money on the table to resign our own players and not get into a Maple Leaf situation with Nylander.
