  1. Just wondering though, if let's say the Canucks were out of a playoff spot again next year, wouldn't Burrows fetch more at the trade deadline rather than the offseason?
  2. After seeing Luongo, Kesler, Bieksa, maybe Hamhuis, Burrows is probably the saddest for me to see. Say what you say about Burrows at his 4.5 million dollar cap hit being too high, he earned it, Henrik and Daniel won thier Art Rosses with Burrows on thier line. That in itself is a feat considering how many line mates the Sedins have had over the course of thier careers. Burrows is a good leader and as proof from the Edmonton game, still clutch. The one thing this years version of the Canucks have demonstrated is that having too many young guys in the line up at the same time makes for a non playoff team. If Burrows stays, Aquaman saves from having to pay an extra 1.5 million in salary since Burrows is only getting pais 3 mil in real money, Burrows plays a good winger option for Sutter, The kids get a mentor. Everybody's good.
  3. For today's game, the highlight of the night was when Stewart gets ready to challenge Tryamkin then sees him and turns with his tail between his legs. The way he plays, He hits like Jovanovski with the long and busy stick of a Willie Mitchell, with a little more work he'll have a shot of Salo. If the Canucks were ever going to get a Norris Trophy Winner, 5-8 years down the road, he might be the best chance.
  4. Gotta keep him. With the reported youngers having effort issues. Burrows give it all you got in every shift is definately needed in that locker room. More so than any other 4 million dollar man in free agency. The canucks have cap flexability and my guess is that not all the rookies will be staying in Vancouver next year. Burrows still has value in him, this guy has been through it all this year. How many different line mates have he had to pair with over the course of the season? What Burrows needs more than anything to get him going are solid linemates. Vrbata was right about lines needing chemistry. The problem with this year is that no line was really put together long enough for the players to learn about eachother and play off each other. Personally, I am dying...DYING...to see Burrows and Sutter together.
  5. What he said about Hammer is the reason Hamhuis should be resigned. He can helps rookies adjust and help make up for thier mistakes. Sbisa can't do that.
  6. I thought the game lacked heart today. Funny how the heart factor went down when Burrows went down.
  7. I think Burrows is changing his game as he realizes that he is losing his hands. He's sound defensively and always provides a spark. One thing with Burrows is that you can put him with anyone and you would still get 100%. His cap hit seems high but in the grand scheme of what Burrows has done for the Canucks organization throughout the years, the cap hit is worth it. I hope the Canucks keep Burrows and extend him for third or forth line money. After seeing Kesler, Bieksa, Higgins leave the Canucks and maybe Hammer in the summer, I like to see a few Canucks whose been there awhile.
  8. I'm confused. So for sure we are not making the playoffs. These are non meaning games meant yet Benning is looking at burning a year of this kid's contract? I read somewhere, I think it's the Province where they said that the Canucks were going to play him more than 9 games. If this is true and it turns out to be the case I'd think this reeks of bad asset management.
  9. Just watched a documentary called "Murder Rap: Inside the Biggie and Tupac Murders." I thought it was a very good movie, it dispelled rumours of what happened, went into police evidence, witness interviews. Everything that happened each night. And at the end you learn that someone still famous at the moment is the one who put the hit on Tupac. Brought a lot of memories back especially with thier music and if you were ever a fan of either rapper then I would highly recommend.
  10. Even if Higgins can resurrect his career,, I can't see it being with the Canucks.
  11. What about all those threads and posts about the Sedin's past accomplishments? Usually when we refer to things that happened in past, we use the past tense. It's called English.
  12. You remember Burrows for all the bad, I remember him scoring important goals.
  13. 5 million is less than half of what the highest paid players get. This is a different NHL where money is thrown like confetti. Look at the David Clarkson contract? Burrows got what he deserved because he was a value to the Canucks for so many years. He played many years where his play exceeded how much is cap hit was. More years than the Canucks ever overpaid him IMO. There is something to be said about loyalty. Yes Hockey is a business, but then again so is the company you work for. How would you like it if you get paid more than a new employee then the boss wants to get rid of you so that a new employee can take your spot with a lower salary? Let the kids take over, I get it but 5M is not a big cap hit compared to many overpaid players in the NHL and loyalty should mean something. If not then to be honest it's not worth watching anymore.
  14. How come Horvat breaks out of a slump, everyone has him as the next Canuck captain, Meanwhile Burrows breaks the slump and he's still getting ragged on?
  15. I'm starting to see why Kesler wanted out of Vancouver. Get out before the fans turn on you.
  16. Just watched Star Wars, great movie but was a little depressing seeing how much Han Solo and Princess Lea aged. The new breed of characters are interesting so 9/10. Great movie but wasn't epic.
  17. True, a lot of Canadians would probably appreciate getting paid in USD over CAD as well so I can see that.
  18. If he does not make the NHL club, he would be better off on a KHL team than Utica, the KHL is a beeter league
  19. Higgins is another story, I would not mind higgins being moved because he has been ineffective. At least with Burrows, you know he is on the ice. When there are highlights to the games, Burrows at least will show up once in a while if not with points then with something else. Higgins is invisible,
  20. I don't know how Burrows ended up being the whipping boy on this forum but he doesn't deserve it. He got us the 2-1 shootout and when he is not producung, he is not necessarily hurting us either. I personally hope that Burrows retires a Canuck. When you think about important goals, he has always among the ones who scores when it matters most. Burrows was never projected to be a top six player he was just there because he worked well with the Sedins and in today's NHL his cap hit is not too bad for a third or fourth line player. He has a higher salary that many yes but did anyone remember the low ball contracts he played out when he was younger and with the Sedins? I tend to think that he deserved the contract even based on service to the company. I personally don't think Burrows will be traded because you don't want to get too young too fast as with what's going on in Vancouver right now. Burrows is still effective on the defensive end and an invaluable mentor as a career long Canuck and he was mentored by Linden when he was first breaking into the league. Linden has his favorites, the Sedins, Edler, Burrows is definately one of them. So, Yes, I as a Canucks fan, really need him.
  21. Miller i good and all but I atlii wish he played that Outdoor game,
  22. After watching Canucks hockey for so many years. I would say that the Canucks play better in front of Luongo than with Miller. Sure the stats are there but Hockey is as much a people sport as it is an anilytical sport. The Canucks always seem more calm with Luongo in net. I truly belive that letting Lui go was one of the biggest mistakes the Canucks have ever made. As for Mitchell and Hamhuis, In thier prime I would take Hammer in a heartbeat but currently, Mitchell is the better player.
  23. So he holds a bunch of records in Vancouver and a bunch of records in Florida. He has played about 8 years in each city. Which city would most likely retire his jersey? So is Markstrome the only asset we have left from the Luongo trade?
